Next up in our summer series of team-by-team analysis of the 2016/17 campaign are Manchester City.

We start by checking out the team performance levels over the previous campaign to look for any trends of improvement before assessing the Citizens’ standout individuals ahead of the 2017/18 season.

The arrival of Pep Guardiola helped the Etihad side up their points total from 66 to 78 last term, yet they finished some 15 points off the summit for the second successive campaign, claiming third position in the Spaniard’s first year in charge.

City also improved their goal tally, from 71 to 80, which was again the third best on offer, six behind Spurs at the summit.

    Ok here's what I've settled with, please evaluate.

    Foster
    Trippier - Dawson - Cedric - Ake
    Coutinho - Pedro - Pogba - Zaha
    Kane - Lukaku

    Elliot / Gayle - Oriol - Hunie

      Very close to my team too
      Foster / Eliot looks like a great and value rotator.
      Trippier = value on Spuds defence
      Dawson = WBA defence and fixtures
      Cedric = Southampton fixtures
      Ake isn't for me, but it's not crazy

      Pogba is flexiglas, fixtures and more fwd positioning
      Zaha looks sharp already this season & better managed
      Have gone with Alli rather than Coutinho but they're similar. Risk Coutinho will play further back if Salah, Mane and Firmino are all on fire
      Pedro or Fabregas?

      Kane and Lukau are safe early on. Gayle looks like the best value 3rd option unless Hernandez is cheap for the Hammers

    MD : Tadic/Alli/Zaha/Coutinho/Fletcher
    FW : Lacazette/Rashford/Lukaku

    I am still considering putting Firmino up front instead of Rasford and then maybe putting in Pedro to have a Chelsea player in my team but I think having Coutinho+Rashford is more than Firmino+Pedro

      Good bones.
      What's your proposed formation?
      I wouldn't go Kaku and Rashford.
      I like your Firminio - Chelsea player option instead of Couts and Rash.
      Willian, Pedro and Fab all have positives.
      If Pool sign a striker that might change but otherwise Firm could prove great value.
      JROD is another upfront 3rd striker option that gives you another 1.5 elsewhere maybe to upgrade Zaha? Also go Carroll over Fletcher.
      Playmaker over deep sitting mid.

    What's up with the zaha love at 7.0m?

    Am I missing something? I had him in for a period last season and he achieved very little, even at 5.5 - 6.0
