Community Watch – Matchweek 5

Welcome to another update of the Community Watch tournament. The fourth round of matches was played in GW 10,after which all  teams have  lost at least once and only Matagascar are winless.

Matchweek 4 Review

Full results can be found here.

Matchweek 4 brought about a dramatic turn of fortunes with eight of the bottom 10 teams winning their respective games.

Unbeaten until Matchweek 3, Mozambique, Belgium, Reussia and Fashanu Zealand were among the losing teams, leaving no team unconquered four Gameweeks into  the tournament.

Grabbangladesh recorded the biggest score of the week as they convincingly beat table toppers Mozambique 466 – 393.  Mozampique remain top of the table even after this loss.

Bolivia Giroud’s two point win over Kenyaya was the tightest of many close results.

Salahmon Islands secured the biggest win margin of the match week, beating Reussia by 80 points.

All these results had a major impact on the league table, with teams now closely placed to each other.

    Some anti-Salahmon island propaganda going on here 😡

    Surely our Captain rjcv177 deserves to be in the team of the week with his haul of 76 points?

    I had that dream again last night...

    I'm on the team raft, moored off the west coast of Matagascar. It's been a long and arduous journey and Boris allocated rowing shifts according to last week's performance, so I did the first 12000km. Bumped into the David Attenborough character on the way - I think he was looking for Jacques Cousteau - and Sune wasted an afternoon trying to find Nemo before he realised he was in the wrong film.

    I've had a few motivational words with my squad and they're all updating their CVs, but I'm nearly out of options: I ate my chips on the journey and spent my FT on a rage transfer to bring in a bit of fight ... I hope Evra gets here in time for the match.

    At least I can look forward to a comfortable weekend on the bench checking twitter for leaks from Prue Leith on the GW11 Manager of the Week. There's no way Boris picks me on my form, and as for the captaincy ... well he wouldn't would he?

    There he is now, back from a night out with the Lemurs. With a strange look on his face, and back pocket wedged full of cash from local sponsor he announces that the team is: Lord (C), Greenwindmill, Sune, rjcv177, Unitied Nations, Swanmoretime and Knuckles.

    Thank goodness there is no chance of any of that that happening.

    From the bench to captaining the team. My CW career as a player has been on a good upward trajectory. Now just have to wait it out until tomorrow to see the margin of our win.

        Despite 27 points from Elliot and Ward combined, Afghanistanislas' lead has been reduced to only ~7 points, with one more game to play today (hits incl.).

        In this game, Reussia have:

        -2 Gomez
        -1 Firmino
        +1 Salah

        Reussia will then have 3 extra players going into Sundays games, though I fear the deficit may be much more than 7 points.

        May the best Liverpool man win (Salah).

          And there we have it! Salah outscores his rivals Gomez, Firmino and Gomez by 9 points to give his beloved Reussia a 2 point advantage to go with their 3 player advantage going into what is sure to be a Super Sunday, no matter the outcome. Good luck Afghans

              Sure! Might find that autosubs come into play, but these are the starting XI diffs.

              Reussia:

              Otamendi +4
              Jones +2
              Eriksen +2
              Kane +2

              Davies +1
              Richarlison +1
              Lacazette +1

              Afghanistanislas:

              Jesus +4
              Alonso +2
              Sane +2
              Lukaku +2
              Aguero +1
              Luiz +1

                Alli not included in Spurs squad only adds to the stalemate in Afghanistan.

                Reussia's captain Siva gets Mee's 8-pointer off the bench for a total of 16 points.

                The home side's Jonnyrev7 transfers his captaincy to Salah (15) and invites Simpson (1) onto the pitch for a total of 16 points.

                Let the unstoppable force hit the immovable object!

                    By my calculations:

                    Reussia +13 points (-2 players)
                    Afghanistanistas: -13 points (+2 players)

                    This match:
                    Reussia: Otamendi (+4), Lacazette (+1)
                    Afghanistanislas: Jesus (+4), Sane (+2), Aguero (+1)

                        After a crazy match of tos-and-fros aplenty, it is the home team that has the points advantage going into the final two games of the week.

                        If my calculations are correct, Otamendi and Lacazette score 8 points for Reussia. However, Jesus, Sane and Aguero counter with a gigantic 32 points for Afghanistanislas.

                        This is a significant swing at this crucial stage of the weekend, as the Stanislasses take the lead by 11 points, with an even number of players still to feature.

                        However, news of Luiz' "tactical" absence brings T. Carroll off the bench for Jigger and Pony, placing his team another point ahead of the visitors (12), but with a player deficit.

                        Can the following differentials work out in Reussia's favour as the mount a final challenge to claim victory in Afghanistan?

                        Reussia: Jones (+2), Morata (+2), DDG (+1), Azpi (+1), Richarlison (+1)

                        Afghanistanislas: Alonso (+2), Lukaku (+2), Cahill (+1), Matic (+1)

                          What a finale! If all else remains, Reus-sia will score 18 more than Afghanistanislas to take the lead by 6 points.

                          What can the Chelsea defence or Lukaku do about that!??? Or perhaps a Jones second yellow and Christensen stealing Morata's bap will push you a point into the lead! Exciting stuff!

                          Less than 10 minutes to go! Richarlison's baps likely to be reduced to, so all to play for!

                          Reussia:

                          DDG = 4
                          Jones = 1
                          Jones = 1
                          Azpi = 12
                          Morata = 8
                          Morata = 8
                          Richarlison = 8
                          TOTAL = 42

                          Afghanistanislas:

                          Alonso = 6
                          Alonso = 6
                          Cahill = 6
                          Lukaku = 2

                          So there we have it. The above scores remain the same, besides Richarlison losing 1 bonus point.

                          Embarrassment shall ensue if my calculations are incorrect, but I'd like to commiserate Afghanistanislas on a battle well fought, with just 5 points to split the teams at the death. Fine margins, indeed, but ultimately 3 points lost.

                          You dreamt big, and despite falling at the final hurdle, we believe you have the character needed to avoid relegation. They say a measure of champions is their ability to take home 3 points after a poor performance, and we truly proved ourselves contenders today. Keep your spirits up, Stans, and we'll see you in Russia when the margins won't be so narrow! 😉

        Absolutely. This is more like Palace-Chelsea than Watford-City. My quick tot up has the Matas up by 11 and, while the big guns don't come out until tomorrow, I think you have a cheeky edge. I make the differentials:

        Salahs: Jesusx2; Lacazettex1; Sterlingx1; Eriksenx2; Hazardx1; Walkerx1; Vertonghenx1; Kolax1; Valenciax1.

        Matas: Kanex1; Kunx1; Moratax2; Silvax4; Sanex2; Richarlisonx1; Allix1; Jonesx1; Alonsox3; Kiki-Ferminax2; DDGx1.

        And I'm in the toilet as usual.

          I was looking a the differentials spreadsheet and thought we had fielded a extra player, seemed to have all the big strikers covered. Think you’ve been a bit unlucky with Jesus/Laca benchings.

          Right now we will take any win we can get though!

              Going to be very close- morata baps and Alonso cleanies could make it ' matatime'

        I'm pretty set on Bavies > Jones but are Brady or Cedric worth taking hits for to sell?

        Choices are Cedric > Ward/Mee / Brady > Gross/Shaqiri/CM.
