Scout Notes – Gameweek 32 – Sunday

Wes Morgan grabs the only goal of the match as Leicester take a step nearer to the title with a fourth successive 1-0 win. Elsewhere, Anthony Martial leaps onto our double Gameweek radars by firing United to victory over Everton at Old Trafford.

Morgan wins it for Foxes

Leicester City stretched out their lead at the top to seven points by way of their fourth consecutive 1-0 win.

Wes Morgan did the damage for the hosts with his first goal of the campaign, latching onto Christian Fuchs’ cross. The latter now boasts four assists and has amassed the second-most bonus points (21) of any defender on the Fantasy market.

Although the Foxes lack a double Gameweek, they have now recorded shut-outs in seven of their previous eight home ties and remain at the King Power Stadium for two of the next three Gameweeks, encouraging investors in their defence to hold tight.

In the wake of his blank against Saints, Jamie Vardy has now failed to net in six successive starts, which will prompt a portion of his 54% ownership reinvest their funds in Romelu Lukaku before Everton’s back-to-back double Gameweeks.

As for Riyad Mahrez, his explosive potential (11 double-figure hauls) should deter many owners from maxing out on double Gameweek players.

Saints struggle on the road again

Southampton were stifled by the Foxes’ regimented defence and were only able to muster two shots on target throughout the encounter.

Ronald Koeman’s side have failed to score in three of their last five away matches and now hit the road in three of the next five Gameweeks, which includes trips to Everton and Spurs, in addition to a home encounter with Man City. Their lack of a double Gameweek and poor defensive record of late (nine goals conceded and zero clean sheets in six) render their squad a relative non-factor during the final stages of the season.

Martials notches United’s winner

Manchester United remain in the hunt for a Champions League berth as they carved out a third 1-0 victory in four outings.

Anthony Martial proved to be the difference between the two sides, bagging his third goal (Timothy Fosu-Mensah assist) in seven starts. Given that Wayne Rooney’s imminent return makes Marcus Rashford a rotation risk, the 7.6-priced Martial represents the choice route into the Red Devils’ attack for their mouth-watering double Gameweek (AVL & CRY).

Man United’s tenth home clean sheet of the campaign underlined the merits of targeting their defence during the double. On that note, both Daley Blind (fatigue) and Marco Rojo (jet-lag) were subbed off at Old Trafford, highlighting the fact that Chris Smalling and David De Gea are the safest options for Gameweek 33 wildcarders.

Out-of-sorts Toffees fail to impress

Everton suffered their third straight defeat and have now tasted victory just once since Gameweek 26.

Romelu Lukaku had an afternoon to forget against Louis van Gaal’s charges, mustering a solitary off-target attempt. Nonetheless, the Belgian marksman is sure to be one of the most popular pick-ups ahead of the Toffees’ aforementioned successive doubles in Gameweek 33 (wat &cry) and Gameweek 34 (SOU & liv) – indeed, he already ranks top for “transfers in” (62,000) at the time of writing.

For those eyeing up the Toffees midfielders, Aaron Lennon (5.6) was intriguingly handed a central support role behind Lukaku as Gerard Deulofeu started on the right wing. Lennon then switched back to the flank after the young Spaniard was withdrawn just after the hour mark.

Roberto Martinez switched things up at the back, benching Ramiro Funes Mori to facilitate John Stones’ reinstatement in a four-man defence. In terms of tapping into Everton’s backline potential, goalkeeper Joel Robles (4.3) is the standout pick by virtue of his budget price tag, while skipper Phil Jagielka (5.1) – who fired two attempts from inside the box yesterday – seems the safest route into the defence.

Barkley isn't even on my radar. No doubt he'll come back and haunt us now.

Think I'm going to get him, but I'm really not keen. Didn't look threatening at all yesterday, and appeared to play quite deep.

Is Darlow nailed until the end of the season? I.e. no chance of Krul or Elliot returning? Not keen on a Newcastle defender but I need the value somewhere.

    A) Smalling, Ozil, Steven taylor (or other non liv /ars player with gwk 35)
    B) Rojo, KDB, Gabriel

Would have Sanchez and Koscielny with either option

    DANN, Sakho, Clichy
    Sanchez, KDB, Coutinho, Firmino/Payet
    Aguero, LUKAKU, WICKHAM

    Cech, Gabriel, Simpson, Lanzini
    Bank 0.0m

    GW34: Dann -> Darmian
    GW35: Wickham -> Defoe

Anyone considering a city defender for the next few? They seem to be overlooked. Otamendi is obviously overpriced but are clichy and mangala genuine options?

    GW33 WC team:

    Robles
    Delaney Fuchs Bellerin
    Sanchez Payet Mahrez Coutinho
    Aguero Lukaku Kane

    Bench: Mignolet Reid Rojo Lanzini

GW34: Kane to Martial and possibly Mahrez to Ozil for a hit

    Thoughts welcome?!

Firmino or Coutinho? Or both with Payet, Lanzini and Özil

I'm going Couts with özil, Sanchez KDB and Lanzini - not sure if TWO Pool and TWO WHU is not too much?

Price aside, Smalling is the standout pick amongst defenders due to being assured of starts and clean sheet potential.

He hit 4 goals last season in effectively only a half season's worth of minutes - does anyone think he'll step up to the plate in the last 6 games to notch one or two to really justify his high price? You could say he IS slightly overpriced as a non scoring non assisting defender, but isn't 4.0PPG for a 6.5m player very acceptable? Disclaimer, I have not once owned him this season, but will almost certainly get him on WC now.

    Darlow - Robles
    Sakho - Bellerin - Clyne - Janmaat - Gabriel
    Coutinho - Payet - Lanzini - Sanchez - KDB
    Martial - Lukaku - Aguero

£0.2m ITB. 2 Liverpool + 2 Newcastle defs, I know I know... The forwards make up for it.

    GW33: WC
    GW34: 15 DGWers BB + save FT
    GW35: Martial > Defoe, 11 SGWers
GW36-37: Use 3 FTs to get 11 DGWers

    Sound good?

Not posted on here in months, but have managed to get up to 875 in the world. What's the thinking about WC this week or next week? I see a lot are doing it this week, but I'm tempted to use 2 FT and go with 2 Palace (Dann and Hennessey) and 2 Everton players (Lukaku and Coleman), then WC next week.

    Cheers.

Can anyone help me finish my WC?

I need 3 midfielders with a value of no more than 18m, one of which must play in 35 and another to be transferred out after GW34. For the sake of this exercise Mahrez is 6.6 and Payet 8.3

    Rest of team is
    Robles, Darlow
    Bellerin, Gabriel, Smalling, Sakho, Simpson
    Sanchez, Coutinho
    Kane, Aguero, Lukaku

The best suggestion will win a Toberlone in the shape of the Eiffel Tower (restrictions apply to prize eligibility)

Anyone else got 3 Everton players in their WC teams and are now wondering why they have an Everton defender in their plans?

If Firmino is fully fit, are people going to go with him over Cout?

Cout has always been my fantasy football bane, owned him many times and never seemed to get any points.

Would rather have Firmino if he's available.

Depends which week your planning to use the TC chip, if in 34 you need to wildcard this week if in 37 then wildcard in 34 or 36

I'm looking at Siggy to Barkley. Sigs has done me proud since I owned him and even though the Toffees haven't exactly been on fire, Barkley has 2 games to do something while Siggy has Chelsea.

Any help would be great... I want to put Lukaku in and take Vardy out for the next couple of games weeks. Not sure if this will leave me weak in other positions.

    Current Team:

    Cech - Hennessey
    Bellerin - Fuchs - Dier - Sagna - Wollscheid
    Payet - Alli - Ozil - Lingard - Mahrez
    Aguero - Kane - Vardy

    1 FT - £0.2 in the Bank

Could do: Lukaku for Vardy & Ozil for Coutinho

Take a hit this week and then next week put in a Liverpool or Man Utd defender. What do you guys think????

I think it's a solid move for now. Made the lukaku one myself this morning and would probably hold. I think you'll want Arsenal over Liverpool for DGW 34. My plan is to upgrade Ozil to Sanchez for that week.

Yeah that's what I've been looking at doing but I'm not sure I could do it without cutting another descent player. Also another option for me is KDB for Ozil

    Here is the time I am fairly content with: 4DGW 33, 15DGW 34 (BB), 11 SGW 35 (2FT)

    Robles // Darlow
Delaney // Coleman // Sakho // Bellerin // Clichy or Mangala
Coutinho // Paget // Sanchez // De Bruyne // Iwobi
    Martial // Lukaku // Aguero

    0.0 ITB

I know there's no United defence currently but can't have everything.

My trouble is my bench is currently Martial, Bellerin and Iwobi...

    Current WC team

    Robles Darlow
    Sakho Bellerin Gabriel Delaney Simpson
    Sanchez KDB Payet Coutinho Mahrez
    Kane Lukaku Aguero

Question is do I ditch Mahrez for Lanzini and then do a cheeky Robles-DDG next week?

Leaves me with having to take out one of Delaney, Payet, Lukaku, Lanzini in 35 though with only .1 in the bank any suggestions of who I could replace for whom. My head is battered with all this WC planning.

Completely stumped on my team. WC'd in 32 but went Bell, Gabriel and Ozil. No, of course, I'm bricking it as I don't have Sanchez and my rivals do (and will almost certainly TC him in 34)

    1) Ozil to Sanchez and C in 34 (BB) cost -4
    2) reshape the 'arsenal3' and go with Bellerin > Sanchez, costing -8
    3) fill the chuck out and stick to the original plan - Sanchez won't score much more than Ozil in the DGW
    2)
