Preview Movie – Rate My Team – Part One

Following on from our Hall of Fame preview on Christmas Day, we’re now able to show you a glimpse of the full “Rate My Team” funcitionality that we’re looking to add to the Members Area for the January Wildcards.

Chris Atkinson, the creator of the Rate My Team model, again joins me for this movie, the first of two that we’ve produced to show you have Rate My Team works.

What is Rate My Team?
Rate My team is a statistical model built specifically to assess every player in the Premier League and return their expected values for Fantasy Premier League (FPL) points in a given Gameweek. The system is a complex and thorough one which, of course, plots the probabilities of a player’s time on the pitch, their expected number of goals, assists, bonus points, yellow and red cards, clean sheets, own goals, goals conceded and saves. The strength of the opponent they are facing in a given Gameweek is also crucial; so every team has a attacking, defensive rating, every player a probability of playing a given match with injuries, suspensions and international absence factored in.

You can find out more about Rate My Team here, or, of course, in the movie below.

How Can It Help Me?
If you’re a member you can use the Rate My Team tool in a number of ways. Firstly, you can use it as a projections tool to predict what specific players will score, on average, over the next X number of Gameweeks. As you’ll see in the movie, you have a players table that can filtered by position or FPL cost and which can be extended to show any number of Gameweeks. You can also sort on “Value” to find those players projected to offer the best points per million return.

However, this is just one part of the functionality. Rate My Team can also analyse your existing FPL lineup, recommend captains, vice captains your bench and bench order and allow you to model your future transfers. In the second “My Team” movie, we’ll show you this functionality in full.

Rather than post your team in the comments on the main site, our members can now enter their FPL code in Rate My Team and it will immediately offer you an appraisal of your squad. In a nutshell, it should prove rather useful for the January wildcard, when so many of us look to reconstruct our sides. Using Rate my Team you can transfer players in and out of your team and get an immediate appraisal of the impact of that transfer.

When will Rate My Team be available?
We’re looking to roll out the Rate My Team tool for our members on January 1.

I am going to have to get Bale in my team. Sunderland are a tough team though and I'd rather get Bale next GW. Is Bale going to be affordable though next GW ???

If you are OK with 9.9m and a guaranteed start vs Reading(you will know if he will be suspended, he is on 4 YC), he will be.

    Enrique, Skrtel, Hughes (Rangel, Figueroa)

I'm thinking Michu (sale price of 8.0) > Walcott, opinions?

Ankle was twice the size yesterday according to Laudrup and hopefully no ligament damage. He won't play this week imo. Not alot of time for the swelling to significantly reduce and the mobility to return in 3 days. And the incentive to rush him back to fitness when it could risk him in the long term is not great enough.

I started in gameweek 6 and average 53 points a week with some bad capt choices..Pro rata i have worked out i would have been on about 1020 pts had i started in gameweek 1...and with a bit more luck/nounce with capts choices between 1050/1070...

Don't think Gallas' place in that back 4 is particularly assured... think the other 3 will play most weeks and he'll be rotated...

Fellaini. I know his price will be protected after he returns and therefore i can wait to bring him in with no fear. But I have Theo and would be very worried about not having Fellaini for GWs 22 and 23 (SWA, sot). So the question is, get Fellaini and just have Theo and Gibbs + a Hammers defender for DGW or get Caz/Nolan in for Silva and just get Fellani back on wc?

      Bego ruddy
      Baines g.johnson nelsen (gorks, simspon)
      Michu bale silva sterling (puncheon)
      Rvp suarez berba
      0.2, 1 ft

A sterling to walcott, suarez to hernandez ( so tempted! Till wc of course)
B sterling to walcott, Baines to demel
      C silva to mata
      D other?

      Stupid question.
I got Yaya at 7.7 and planning to ship him out. Today his value is 8.1 so the resale value is 7.9
Tomorrow he's gonna drop to 8.0. So what's gonna be the resale value? 7.8 or 7.9?

      Thanks

Tevez and Suarez = > RVP and Berbatov for a 4pt hit. I can't afford it next week. Is that a good idea?

Rubbish. Who else offers that consistency? Worth every penny.

Everybody needs a bit of RVP action.

Overpriced, still a must have right now... but if Chelsea do go out and but Falcao in the transfer window... all that might change...

I forgot when, but i recall hearing that most of the people at the very top did not have rvp. Of course this could have changed.

He's so expensive because he is so consistent. He's only had three games this season where he hasn't scored or provided an assist, his only 'blip' was in GW 12 &13 when he got 2 points in consecutive weeks. He warrants the price tag imo, and his price will only go up, so sell him at your peril
