Community Submissions Area – Now Live

The new Community Submissions section is now live. You can get to this section to view any published articles and to submit an article, via the Community tab in the menu bar. You will also notice a new Articles tab in the previously named Comments widget in your sidebar. The most recently published community submissions will be listed here.

In case you missed our previous update on this, this new section allows any registered user to post us an article for review, which can then be published on the site in the new Community section. Some articles may also be promoted to the homepage listing and sit alongside our regular articles.

As we mentioned last week, in many ways, this is an extension of the Hot Topics feature in our HomeCrowd comments system. The community can now interact with us and fellow community members by posting comments, Hot Topics and now fully fledged articles.

It’s now over to you to help shape this community section. While we’ve suggested categories for article submissions in the form, you have the freedom to submit articles on any given area of Fantasy Football. Player scout reports, tactical analysis, statistical breakdowns (members or non-members related), features on a particular topic or dilemma and, of course, information on any free community tournaments you’re running will all be considered and possibly published in this section.

Our recent Drop the Flop article – as devised and written by Swanny14 – is an example of our willingness to take on, develop and promote new editorial ideas, so if you have any suggestions for future content, feel free to get involved.

We are particularly interested in hearing from fans of a Premier League club to provide expert analysis and match reports or, at this stage, perhaps a review of the season from their club’s perspective. Ultimately, our hopes are to have a community expert on board for each team in the top-flight in any given season – this could be your chance to be our eyes and ears on the latest goings-on at your club.

We’d like to think that there are several potential writers out there who will spring from the submissions section and evolve into contributors to help take the site forward in the coming years. We will re-launch the section prior to next season when the community welcomes some new faces but, this soft launch is an opportunity for our current community to get involved, prior to the World Cup and pre-season.

If any of you fancy yourself as experts on a particular World Cup nation, have a list of players to watch or simply want to review your Fantasy season or focus on initial squad targets for the next, then pen your article and post it to us via the submissions area.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

these were the full gerrard and yaya set piece stats.

    gerrard
115 points from set-pieces and the bonus they earnt him (would be 117+ but he missed a pen too)
13 goals 13 assists total, 0 goals 4 assists in open play.

    yaya
    74 points from set-pieces.
20 goals 8 assists total, 8 goals 8 assists in open play.
first half of the season 1 goal and 3 assists from open play (same record as ramires).
second half of season 7 goals and 5 assists from open play (with a game to go)

so gerrard has 41 more points than yaya from set-pieces yet is 41 points worse off overall still.

yeah. is also why i dont think his age is an issue, can still score pens and free kicks at 40. although i guess with champions league next season it is more doubtful how much of a 90 minute 38 game a season man he'll be

Is the reason Yaya has been better from open play in the second half of the year due to the injuries to silva and Aguero leading to him getting more minutes in an attacking role compared to the first half of the season do ye think?

Undoubtedly. With Silva out Yaya is relied upon to push further forward to help fill the void. When Aguero is out Yaya has penalties and a greater share of FK's. What bodes will for Yaya is that Silva and Aguero will always be injury prone.

Very true Ryan but you can't predict when or if a player will be injured (look at rvp in his break out year for arsenal when he stayed injury free, and sturridge this season

Sorry hit post button before I was finished typing (on phone).

So the way I see it with yaya is he IS worth investment when kun and or the attacking mids particularly silva are injured but not worth investment if not. I know he has been pretty consistent all season but it is clear his output from play pre Xmas when silva and kun were fit most of the time would not be good enough to tempt investment. There is too much luck investing in him for these reasons so I have only had him once this year when kun was defo ruled out.

Can anyone help me out here, used the Gargatron for the first time, my results are:

I need to make up 30 pts on my league leader. Only way to do this is to draft in an unusual candidate for captain and take a bold risk 🙂

Any ideas ? Looking at the fixtures, other than City and Liverpool, only Spurs seem to have an easier match...so wondering on Adebayor as captain ?

Or any other obscure (though sensible !) suggestions ?

I see Mata starting this weekend. It made sense that he would play no part against Hull at home, we just didn't have the foresight to see it. Vida leaving and Giggs possibly retiring with RVP back from injury and Giggs' own quotes about handing out appearances.

    oh well!

the reasoning for people saying that he would at least play is that RVP would start meaning that was one less needed sub..no one knew he would hand out debuts to Lawrence and Wilson which threw the wrench in.

the foresight comes from this doubt when it came to selecting captains..I should have realized that Mata was a bigger risk for captain vs a City player who had something to play for even though he was just back from injury (I had literally flipped a coin between Yaya and him and it came up Yaya, but I think the decision should have been easier than a coinflip)

He's getting older and more injury-prone and might still be recovering from the World Cup. And who knows what his price or United's early fixtures will be like. Too early to decide in my opinion, but I avoided him all this season and don't expect him to be in my GW1 squad for next season either.

He may be cheaper than Suarez, Aguero and Rooney, but will he offer better value than Sturridge, Adebayor, Giroud, Remy, Lukaku, Dzeko, Bony, Lambert, Wickham and Chelsea's new striker?

Mini-league leaders, how are you feeling? Confident, you can see it out. Worried your team is now a mess?

What are your tactics for the gameweek? Bringing in players to counteract your opponents? Picking the players you think will score the most regardless of your opponent?

Personally, I brought in Yaya ( I know, why not sooner ), so he can't punish me. I also brought in Dzeko, as I think he will be one of the top strikers this week and will have him covered if my rival gets him aswell.

Really don't know. A straight swap to Dzeko is the obvious play, but if he's fit it's horribly sideways.

Sideways, but it's the last week and covers your opponent if Dzeko scores big. I'm worrying about playing Boruc over Mannone as Boruc is my rivals only keeper, but I think Mannone will do better. But again it limits my opponent, if I play the same players.

Yeah you're right. Special rules for the last week; I want to treble up on Palace but am playing Mannone over Speroni, same reasons. I know I should get Dzeko.

I am just 3 points ahead. I really don't know what to do. Rival always make transfers 1 hour before transfers deadline.

      This is my team: http://www.dodaj.rs/f/38/ta/3IagZmM4/team.png

Rival got Dzeko, Cazorla, Silva, Ivan, Alonso and Gibbs - differential from me

I might do Jones -> Baines Mata -> Hazard and Aguero -> Sturirdge

But don't know yet for sure.. 😀

      I'm 15 points behind. The swings in points between us in the last 9 weeks have been -35, +29, +24, -7, -7, -35, -34, -38, + 24.

+ being he gained - meaning I caught up. So I expect to either win by 20 points or lose by 50. I suffered bad this DGW and not only lost out but now have poor prospects unless I take a hit. I can't do anything more than try and captain a hattrick hero. The rest will take care of itself.

In UFPL I can wrap up the UFFS H2H league by 'just' beating the average, not much to play for because in my ML the guy in second got 152 points (was 2nd in the GW) and is out of sight now. Oddly my GW Rank last week was the same as my overall points 🙂

        Thoughts on this scenario:

I'm ahead 19 points going into this week. He has already spent -8, taking my lead to 27.

        My team:

        Mannone
        Cahill Coleman Rosenior
        YaYa Eriksen Ramsey Mata Lallana
        Rooney Aguero Suarez

Who would you captain between YaYa and Suarez?

Would you spend points? Who would you pick up and who would you swap out?

Definitely. Especially knowing my nearest rival has spent -8. I would definitely take Roo out with the FT (no pint hanging onto him - Injury doubt, minutes doubt, mind in Rio, etc.), probably for Dzeko, Studge or Lukaku. Next on the line should be either Mata or Kun.
