We’ve decided to reinvigorate the Scout Picks for the forthcoming season. The new method of presenting our weekly player recommendations will not only offer a more varied viewpoint on the thinking behind the final selection, it will give you, the community, the opportunity to contribute and even go up against the Gameweek selections made by us.
What’s This About A Revolution?
Myself, Paul and Jonty will select our Scout Picks 1-11 for the Gameweek ahead.
No strict budget limitation will be applied but, that said, we will endeavour to be mindful of the Fantasy Premier League (FPL) prices. Scout Picks selectors are encouraged to consider the total value of their 1-11 when making their selections to ensure that budget and mid-price options are explored.
Scout Picks selections can use any one of the following formations – 3-5-2, 3-4-3, 4-4-2, 4-3-3.
No more than three players can be selected in the 1-11 from any Premier League team.
A nominated member of the Fantasy Football Scout team will be appointed “Assistant manager” for the Gameweek head. He will prepare a 1-11 selection to represent the community.
The community have the opportunity to nominate a “Champion” for the Gameweek ahead who will relieve the “Assistant Manager” of his duties.
How Do I Get Involved?
Would-be community “Champions” must put themselves forward in the Scout Picks Community Nomination Hot Topic which will be published mid-morning, normally on Mondays.
Nominees should list their provisional 1-11 Scout Picks selections when putting themselves forward. Nominations will normally close by Wednesday at 10am.
The rest of the community should use the Up Vote to show their support for an initial nomination and their provisional Scout Pick lineup in the Hot Topic.
Forty eight-hours later, a poll, listing those nominations with the most community support, will be published allowing the community to vote for their final choice of Gameweek Champion.
The successful community “Champion” must supply their final Scout Picks 1-11 to Jonty (jonty@fantasyfootballscout.co.uk) by 3pm on Friday.
Should we fail to get any nominations or, at any point, the community “Champion” fails to provide an initial or final Scout Pick selection, then the Community “Assistant Manager” will re-gain control of the selection to represent the community for the Gameweek in question.
How Will the Scout Picks Be Judged?
We will total up the FPL points for all four Scout Pick selections (Myself, Paul, Jonty and the Community) after the Gameweek concludes and we will keep a running tally as the season progresses.
Are There Are Any Other Rules?
Yes there are. Plus, we reserve the right to make up some more along the way once we get started.
For now, we’re stipulating the following:
- Community Champion Nominations must be registered users on Fantasy Football Scout and must post their provisional Scout Picks in the Hot Topic.
- Scout Picks cannot be posted as a nomination on behalf of another user.
- Nominations must be willing to supply a valid email address for contact throughout the selection process.
- Any nomination or Champion voted by the community who is later put under moderation, will not be considered for that Gameweek.
- We reserve the right to change and overrule the selection of the chosen Community Champion at anytime.
So Will There be Four Scout Picks Published?
While the Scout Picks article will list the four selections made by myself, Paul, Jonty and the Community, a final and official Scout Picks selection will be posted as normal on Friday.
This will be made up of a combination of the four Scout Picks selections and will be based on one of the valid formations and include a 1-11 and three subs – one defender, one midfielder and one forward.
Again, no strict budget limitation will be applied to this 1-14 selection but, that said, we will endevour to be mindful of the FPL prices for the current Gameweek.
We will be introducing this new system from Gameweek 2 onwards. For Gameweek 1, we’ve given the community every chance of getting off to a good start against myself, Paul and Jonty: the Community Scout Picks team will be selected by Tom Fenley, last season’s FPL winner.
Look out for the Gameweek 1 Scout Picks around 6.00pm on Friday. After that, you can start preparing your Picks for Gameweek 2 and see if you can get the vote to represent the community against us.
