Just a few days after the Fantasy League begun pre-registration for their games, the Telegraph have gone one better and opened their full game for the new season, including full team selection.
Registration and squad selection inThe Telegraph’s squad game is yet to be opened but the popular basic “TFF” is all systems go. Rules remain intact from last years game so there’s still that ridiculous 5 points for scoring and saving in an FA Cup penalty shoot-out and yes you still need that tiresome weekly password to make transfers. One new addition is the “Super 20” mini-game which is effectively a mini-league that teams are drawn into with 19 other random teams for the season. These teams then compete in head-to-head fixtures with points for a win, draw etc. It’s effectively identical to the Fantasy League’s new “Round Robin” mini-league announced earlier in the week.
Teams are £6 each or £15 for 3 teams and entry before July 22 and you’ll get free entry for your team in the Champions League tournament that takes place later in the season, registration for which is normally £4.
A quick glance at the player list meanwhile reveals that Matt Taylor has been classified (correctly) as a midfielder but then so has Birmingham’s McSheffrey, making him a rather obvious choice for a cheap midfielder at 3.8 million. Indeed, the Telegraph have, once again, made it rather easy to pick a very solid team. Certainly if you look at “expert” Alan Hansen’s team for the new season you wonder how he could possibly select such an eleven within budget. Certainly you’ll be lucky to replicate your Telegraph side in any other game out there. There’s also a table of popular selections so you can even get direct information on who other register teams are selecting. So those who haven’t yet sussed the potential of Derby’s Giles Barnes at just 3.0 million, can have it slapped in their face via this table. Very handy or frustrating depending on your outlook.
I’ll take a closer look at the Telegraph player list over the weekend, in the meantime dive in if it’s your thing. The Telegraph is a popular game which will benefit from opening its doors early, however, personally the FA Cup scoring, penalty shoot-out points and the weekly hunt for the transfer password just kill my interest in this game.
