Spurs have lost Roman Pavlyuchenko for three weeks with the club confirming today that the striker suffered a partially torn ankle ligament in the defeat to Hull on Sunday.

The striker is set to miss matches against Stoke, Bolton and maybe Arsenal in the Premiership, and he’ll also miss out of Tottenham’s first UEFA Cup group match against Udinese.

Although a blow, the Russian has hardly set the world alight down at the troubled North London club and Darren Bent may actually benefit from a unchallenged run in the side. Frazier Campbell is another who could profit and that may well be another consideration for fantasy managers….

Bent had a pre-season that promised goals from the off. Sadly, it hasn’t turned out anything like that for the former Charlton man. Two goals in seven Premiership appearances thus far is a disappointing return but this new breathing space could well provide him with a new opportunity to shine.

Campbell meanwhile clearly has goals in him, and got close to opening his Spurs account against Wisla Kraków in the UEFA Cup. He could earn some starts having found himself lining up with Pavlyuchenko on Sunday. Currently he is a budget option across the games, coming in at just 5.3 in the Fantasy Premier League. At that price, he could well be worth a punt.

The issue of course, is Tottenham’s form. Games against Stoke and Bolton in the short term would normally offer decent potential for points from their attacking players. With the current level of confidence and form however, those fixtures only look easy for their opponents. After the Bolton game Spurs face Arsenal, Liverpool and City – if they go into those games without a win, it’s hard to see them having any joy. Despite the opportunity this injury presents to Bent and Campbell then, any interest in the pair would certainly be a gamble.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.
