It’s that time of the week again where we see who has progressed into the next round of The Fantasy Football Scout Cup, sponsored by Paddy Power. This time we are down to the final 8… our quarter-finalists. Read on to find out made it and who bowed out in the sixth round…

The first fixture of the round saw pataka take on Barkerov, with Manchester United fan Barkerov prevailing 56-46. You may wonder why I’ve mentioned Barkerov’s real life allegiance, but I found it quite ironic that pataka’s failing United players (Rooney and Evra) assited Barkerov in winning his tie, as he instead opted for Liverpool and Chelsea stars.

The top two scores in the entire round came in the second tie as Breakballartist beat Aldershot Rejects 69-60 in a high-scoring fixture. Congratulations to Breakballartist who is not only now eligible to claim a free £25 bet courtesy of sponsors Paddy Power, but finds himself sitting 23rd in the world. Also a word of condolence to the loser Aldershot Rejects who managed a very credible score without a single Chelsea player in his starting eleven (once A Cole was subbed out). He too is doing very well overall, with a current rank of 612th.

The biggest winning margin came in the tie that saw donnellyc smash deppy35 58-37, in part thanks to a 4 point hit bringing in and captaining Drogba. In victory donnellyc overtook deppy35 in the overall standings. Leeds_Champion also booked himself a quarter-final spot after his tie ended firecamel 51-59 Leeds_Champion. Not many differentials in this tie, but Carlton Cole’s goal and assist saw Leeds_Champion through.

Fixture five was the most closely contested between Sam (Team Sam) and LaDiDa, with Sam (Team Sam) coming out on top 46-41. The no-shows of Ashley Cole and Steven Gerrard allowed Stephen Hunt (5 points) and James McFadden (6 points) to come on and perform admirably for Sam (Team Sam), with Ryan Shawcross his only unused sub.

Next up saw the two lowest ranked managers left in the competition, Pure Olivia and Shava, face each other. The result saw higher ranked Pure Olivia run out a comfortable 60-45 winner. Elsewhere, the tie between Frankel and Poshleftme ended 57-48 in favour of Poshleftme, with Lampard proving to be the difference.

The eighth and final tie between Brick and George was the lowest scoring tie in the round, with George‘s 44 just enough to see off Brick’s 36. With many other fantasy managers leaving Man United defenders on the bench this week, Brick played Evra ahead of Saha, a decision that ultimately cost him a place in the quarter-finals. Gutted.

Well done the remaining participants, who now face a nervy wait to see who their opponent in the quarters is. With odds of one in eight of winning a £25 bet, the competition is really hotting up.
