Good morning Fantasy Football world, let’s keep you all abreast of what’s going on. As tweeted in the early hours by our roving reporter Greek Fan, Man City look to have a few added doubts in their squad as we look ahead to the six midweek fixtures…

First and foremost Craig Bellamy was sent off for two yellow cards in City’s three a piece draw with Bolton yesterday so will be definite no show for the visit to Spurs on Wednesday. To my eyes his second yellow card looked mighty harsh and he perhaps should have had a free kick rather than be punished, but as the dismissal was for two yellow cards there is no appeal process so Bellamy will be out. Look to the British transfer record breaking Robinho to come back into the starting 11 on left hand side in the Welshman’s absence.

Heading into the world of injuries Mark Hughes has shed some light on where Shaun Wright-Phillips stands after having to leave the pitch after only 19 minutes of gametime:

“Shaun got a bang on his leg which caused him to go over on his ankle which locked up and is pretty sore,”

This is something that at this stage makes him seem questionable as to whether he will start with City’s next game coming in quick succession. Hopefully before the transfer deadline closes on tuesday evening Mark Hughes can enlighten us with some more details as to whether the little man will be available.

With Wright-Phillips having been in a recent spell of good form a few managers may be left sweating on this – Stephen Ireland came off the bench to replace Wright-Phillips yesterday and seems the likely replacement in midweek were he not to make it back to fitness in time.

And finally, Mark Hughes also spilled the beans as to why Nigel De Jong was missing from action yesterday allowing Vincent Kompany to cover his role as defensive midfielder:

“Nigel has swine flu. We are trying to keep a lid on it. He will not be at the training ground on Monday but might still be an option for the game in midweek.”

So it appears another of the City squad has been caught up in the swine flu pandemic, after the previously tweeted Bellamy & Weiss succumbed to it’s effects last week. It’s something that will need to watched carefully if we are scouting City players (I’m personally eyeing up Tevez, shame I didn’t jump in early) just in case this continues to spread throughout the squad.

If De Jong doesn’t make it back in time Kompany seems the most likely to cover again, but Stephen Ireland can replace him if Hughes wants to go with a more attacking formation and let Gareth Barry do most of the holding.
