Carlo Ancelotti has confirmed the return of Didier Drogba for the trip to West Ham this weekend.
Drogba missed the midweek win over Portsmouth with a back injury sustained in training. We obviously await full confirmation but this report does suggest we have some good news on the Chelsea man – much needed after the recent injury to Arsenal’s Cesc Fabregas.
Elsewhere the Chelsea boss has stated that Joe Cole will start against his former club and suggested that either Ballack or Mikel could be rested. Belletti could be drafted into the holding midfield role if it is Mikel to make way. In defence, Carvalho will also make a return, presumably at the expense of Alex. Ancelotti has hinted that he doesn’t want to “change a lot of things” so we can presume that Ivanovic will hold onto the right-back spot.
