Liverpool have confirmed all their fans and fantasy owners worst fears, their three most potent and dynamic players are all set for a spell on the sidelines.
On Torres and Gerrard Liverpool had to say:
“Steven has a hamstring strain and will be out for a fortnight, while Fernando has torn a cartilage in his right knee. The injury will require surgery and he is expected to be sidelined for six weeks.”
So it looks like Gerrard could be set to miss four or five of Liverpools next Premier League fixtures in a do or die period. After fighting hard to avoid the surgeon’s knife for his hernia problem, it seems that Torres has had to succumb thanks to this new injury and will spend a lengthy spell on the sidelines as well. It doesn’t stop there though, as Yossi Benayoun also picked up a spot of bother:
“Yossi Benayoun also suffered a fractured rib in the game and will be unavailable for between three and four weeks.”
The previously reported double gameweek for Liverpool is all of a sudden a whole lot less appealing. Though figures like Kuyt & N’Gog will have to step up to the plate in their absence and might just make good left-field differential choices. Recent signing Maxi Rodriguez (and new £7.5m FPL addition) may also get an early opportunity. Testing times.
