The draw for the fifth round of the Fantasy Football Scout Cup II, sponsored by Paddy Power, took place yesterday and can be viewed by clicking here. As well as annoucing the sixteen ties taking place in gameweek 34 and picking out a few plum ties, I’ve also looked at each participants overall ranking to try and guage how high the level of competition is…
I’ll start with the lowest ranked manager left in the cup, williamkilcoyne. He is currently ranked 388,032nd in the world and last week defied the odds to defeat SammyC who was, at the time, 5th in the world and the highest ranked manager in the cup. This week he has to produce another cupset as he is involved in another David and Goliath tie, this time against the second highest ranked manager in the cup, and arguably tournament favourite, NBJ.
The second lowest ranked manager in the cup is 130,719th placed Civan, and he is up against top 500 opponent Louie.
The remaining twenty-eight managers in the competition are all ranked in the top 50,000, which gives some indication of how high the standard in the cup is. In fact, twenty-three of the thirty-two managers in the fifth round are in the top 10,000. Furthermore, fifteen of the thirty-two are in the top 5,000 and eight of those are in the top 1000.
The top ranked manager MrsVorheesLilBoy, who is sitting 3rd overall, is up against 6,592nd in the world, Fabio1102.
The last remaining Scout Contributor I’m Not Marshal Foch, who is ranked 5,220th in the world, has a tough tie against 648th in the world IMWORTHIT. Granville’s conqueror and top 10,000 manager Squerly4568 faces off against top 5,000 opponent pompeyfan.
As always, the manager who achieves the top score in the round will win a free £25 bet courtesy of Paddy Power. Last weeks top-scorer GLAD ALL OVER (2,461st in the world) is up against Evs (592nd in the world).
Involved in a big tie last week against dbronaldo, 15,867th ranked Morrissey1986 has tough competition again this week against top 500 in the world Little Lukin.
Good luck to all thirty-two fantasy managers looking to reach the last sixteen, the draw for which will hopefully be live on the podcast next week.
