First it was his knee, then perhaps his ankle, but now we’ve had the situation cleared up by Arsene Wenger who has officially confirmed the injury sufferd by Cesc Fabregas in this evening’s 1-1 draw with Sunderland as a hamstring problem.
As reported earlier, the Arsenal skipper was replaced by Thomas Rosicky after just 29 minutes of the Stadium of Light encounter having earlier handed the Gunners the lead.
Wenger is currently offering very little information on the extent of the injury but we can presume that Fabregas will go into next weekend’s home game with West Brom as a doubt, particularly with a trip to Partizan Belgrade in the Champions League to follow three days later.
Fabregas has suffered multiple hamstring problems in the past and presumably we can expect scans early next week which should offer more information on the scale of the injury and the likely absence.
