Now the hustle and bustle of pre-deadline nerves is over we can all sit down to another enjoyable gameweek of footballing action as the points roll in, starting with…. oh.

Abort, Abort, Abort.

Saturday kicks off with Wigan playing host to Wolves, perhaps the most interesting fact from this game being… nope, I’ve got nothing.

However, we take what we’re given, and if you can draw yourself away from the Ryder Cup for long enough, then you will see that Jordi Gomez is granted a rare start for Wigan behind the recovered Franco Di Santo. Mick McCarthy meanwhile has given us no great surprises, the line-ups in full are…

Wigan XI: Al Habs; Boyce, Gohouri, Alcaraz, Figueroua; McCarthy, Thomas; N’Zogbia, Gomez, Rodallega; Di Santo.

Wolves XI: Hahnemann; Foley, Craddock, Berra, Ward; Edwards, Henry, Mancienne, Jarvis; Fletcher, Doyle.

After this however we have six 3 o’clock kick offs that may excite the palette just a little bit more as – amongst others – West Brom play host to Bolton, Manchester United travel up to Sunderland and Redknapp invites Houllier down to London for a big day out in the Capital.

    arteta is phenomenally good. Spraying passes al over the place, zidane like control, bonii guaranteed again once its a draw or a win.

      Members Area stats are very promising too. But he has to start assisting and scoring more. If Everton had a 20 goal striker instead of f*cking Yakubu, Arteta would be essential.

      I really would love to get Arteta in, but it's Everton's total lack of fit/good strikers that worries me- he can't rack up the assists, which are a big part of his appeal fantasy-wise, if there's nobody on the end of his passes/crosses to put the ball in the net.

      If Everton hit any kind of form over the next 2 or 3 weeks though, I'm seriously considering getting him in as a "poor man's Fabregas" and spending the cash I'd save compared to his more expensive compatriot elsewhere.

    I may have to get VDV in my team soon. I don't think I ever seen a more selfish player in my life.

    Bale has hardly touched the ball. Every time Spurs get into a decent position, one of Jenas or VDV shoots from 35 yards, or Pavlyuchenko will find some way to lose the ball.
