The eagerly awaited first round draw for the Fantasy Football Scout Cup III, sponsored by Paddy Power, has been made. If you’ve qualified and want to find out who your opponent is, click here to view the full set of 256 fixtures. [If you’re struggling to find your name in the fixture list, you can do so easily by pressing Ctrl+F and typing your name in.]

The draw has thrown out plenty of juicy fixtures, such as greghammer95 Vs. The Sting, alang Vs. Dick Fran Dyke and Waldaz Vs. Jamsiep to name just a few.

Hall of famers Jonty and donnellyc both have been dealt tough draws against higher ranked opposition. Current champ Jonty takes on Lucky_2010, and former champ donnellyc is up against billywhizz.

Devilx has more of an uphill battle, as he comes up against the highest-ranked player in the competition, 37th placed bangkibong. The only other cup entrant in the top 100 is number 67 in the world zophar, who is up against FFS Cup II quarter-finalist fiacloir.

The happiest with the draw has to be DundalkKid, who has been drawn against the lowest ranked manager in the first round, cullieh.

Other than facing a low-ranked opponent, another potential reason to be happy with your fixture is when you’ve been given a head-start, and that’s exactly what emperikal has given me. Having taken a four-point hit so early into the international break, I can only hope he picks up an injury or two to force his hand into further point hits.

Looking at my colleagues fixtures, and four of five face higher-ranked opposition. I’m Not Marshal Foch is involved in a huge tie with Twisted Saltergater, Granville and Pure Olivia are the underdogs against Bob and acrascall respectively, and greek fan faces top 1000 manager chipsngravey. Mark is the only favourite going into his, rather ironic, tie against tippman.

All fixtures are to be played in GW8. Remember that the first prize of the season is up for grabs, as the highest point scorer for the week with earn themselves a free £25 bet courtesy of Paddy Power. Good luck to all, and I’ll bring you the results of round one a day or two after the final game of the gameweek has taken place.

    Okay so 2 options:
    1. Hart->Krul
    Murphy->Crainey

    2. O'Shea->Elmo/Coleman
    Hart->Foster

I can then do Malouda->Fab after Fab plays a game. Which option?

Dropping Malouda worries me. I have thought about replacing him with Essien because I still think you need Chelsea midfield presence and Essien is normally going to be involved somewhere along the line.

why do you think you need Chelsea midfield presence? are you saying you would scrap VdV/Nani to ensure it? an elaboration would be nice...

BTW, I like the Harper in goal tactic. Confuses the hell out of your h2h or Cup opponent. Might use the "Alex in defence tactic" next gw myself....

But with both Harper and Alex inj , you might want to make your 2 transfer at their expense?

There are more points available in midfield than both those areas. Carrying a player in defence is alot easier.

I agree TM. This gw i'd rather get rid of a fit midfielder to get in who i think might score well than worry about Alex.

PS: My Cup opponent has made 1 trsfr and i have a feeling that he might have replaced Alex.

I think Fab for Gerrard is a no brainer, & then it is tricky because the rest is well set up. I would do Krul in for Harper myself.

I need funds & a 2nd trade for Fabs to be possible. At the moment Fabs in for GW10 is the favourite for me. Which attacker to leave out is also an issue.

Is Harper to Krul not enough to afford you the move? With Fabs its so frustrating when buying him in 1 week too late after a 15/20 point haul.

Harper to Krul would make it possible. Thinking of taking a hit even with the FFS Cup. Think there could be another big injury around the corner so will wait.

Normally there's headless chickens buying up whoever had a good score the week before. This time no one other than Van der Vaart really had a stellar gameweek last time out so there don't appear to be many bandwagons to hitch a ride on this time around.

Looks like this break will be pretty sucky for people who are playing their wildcard and were hoping to make some money.

Dutch TV is suggesting that VdV will be playing in Nigel de Jong's place tomorrow night. He always was a certainty to play but playing him in a more defensive midfield role is a new one on me.

There are good reasons to buy VdV but I'm very wary of buying bandwagon players. You can count the successful players whose prices have shot up this season on the fingers of one hand and many of them (Drogba, Malouda) were predictable enough at the beginning of the season. Those that have a good week and then rise 0.2 rarely deliver in the subsequent weeks. After all, how many players score doubles and hat-tricks more than a handful of times during the season?

I wonder if he has now lost penalty duties in light of the recent miss? All the time Defoe is injured and he can play off a striker, he is likely to score big. Fixtures are not too kind for next month though.

I'd absolutely say that Pavly is on them now, but he is not on the pitch that often. Behind him it's very hard to say. Modric should be considered as well, does or used to take them for Croatia.

Just wondering how everyone has gone with their playing goalkeepers in the 1st 7 GWs? My scores are 6,7,4,7,2,7 & 1 for a total of 34. Hart owners will have that covered but can anyone beat Harts 41?

Absolutely. It's something I have often struggled with. When I can I like to go with 1 slightly more expensive, like Gomes last season, so I reduced the chance of myself picking the wrong one.

Agree with this, as most people seem to do. If there is a good keeper at about 5.5 I can see a point in having him though, especially if you like me feel you often pick the wrong one.

I'm quite liking Hart- you don't have to decide who to put in goal each week, so you get all his good scores (and his bad of course, but he generally does ok)

You get save points from time to time too, and I don't see Toure getting much extra in terms of attacking points. I could possibly forsee getting Boatebg or Kolorov at some point, and dropping Hart, but for now I think Hart justifies his price.

Dj Campbell is unlikely to get broken Tosey, I now have the funds to switch between Lampard and Fabregas if I go down that route.

Giving up on big strikers, Drogba and Carroll will do for the next few weeks.

I've already decided that I am taking one hit this week so if one does get injured then they are becoming Fabregas.

I'm spending the rest of the week watching the Kolorov situation, if hes fit I will swap Alex for him and bring in Lampard next week to go with Drogba and Malouda for Wolves or if I don't fancy that then Barton or Bale will turn into Cesc.

DJ had to come in regardless so seemed pointless waiting.

Looking at a MF of Adam, Nani, Malouda, Bale, Lampard or Adam, Nani, Malouda with two from Fabregas, Bale and Barton.

That is my strategy while Newcastle have decent fixtures meaning Carroll can play every week with Drogba.

Dont do it TM, Malouda is one of the few players about that are capable of big scores regulary.

Harder fixtures don't really apply, Chelsea are THE hard fixture for everyone else.

Thanks for the advice CP, I'll see what he does for France & how my other players are. Got a feeling rotation is likely for Malouda unless Carlo tells a different story. GW9 is the biggest issue.

GW9 = Chelsea home to Wolves meaning Malouda should score well. I am looking at getting Fabs & Nani in soon & Malouda is the scapegoat for this to happen.

I've got that combo too, I make it 37, but maybe we didn't make the same choices out of the two each week. Could have got 40 if I'd played Robbo instead of Foster last week, but otherwise I've managed to call it right each time.

Did some more analysis on my scoring:

    GK 34
    Defence : 96 from 24.
    Midfield : 139 from 29.
    Strikers : 112 from 17.
    Captain points : 58 from 90.

Picking a better captain would be a good way to improve.

I want to pick Tevez. Lone striker vs Blackpool surely thats a lot of points?!

But I did that last week and the git got a yellow card so once again captaining Drogba would have been the best idea!

This week I'm not sure again. VDV / Nani / Tevez / Caroll / Drogba / Malouda / Dempsey are my options.

Just got a feeling Chelsea can destroy Villa

Another useless stat. Had I been able to play all 14 players minus the 2nd keeper & picked which 3 I'd bench & staying in FPL formation I would have got another 42 points & would still be trailing 1st place. ðŸ™

    which one of:

    1) malouda and konchesky
    2) VDV and toure/other city defender

really not sure of liverpools defense now, but 10 mil for a oop chelsea striker is pretty juicy...

im getting rid of malouda this week but im keeping konchesky, that probably does nothing to help your situation but just thought id throw it in

i think konchesky is a 'keeper' for teh season, liverpool will tighten up and at £5m he could be a bargian

I know you are but Fabregas wasn't playing, had he been then more chances would have been created which leads to free kicks and pens.

Good players will score points against anyone, its only really the players from Bolton and Wolves etc that the fixtures need to come into play, Berbatov V Liverpool is a prime example, I doubt many would have gone near that.

                Im lost?

Fabregas and Lampard are key players for their teams, when they play then their teams play, both can score against anyone and I feel much safer with them then jumping on every potential flash in the pan in a lesser team like VDV.

"Ask Chelsea why not" meant they defended well on that day against arguably the best attack. When you said Fab wasn't playing, it had nothing to do with my statement about Chelsea losing to Man City with a clean sheet. Guessed you meant Lampard as I wasn't talking about Arsenal at all.

Arshavin price drop? I'm new to this game this season, having always played the Telegraph game, but given Arsenal's fixtures in the next 6, surely Arshavin is worth holding onto for the longer term?

I'm pretty rubbish, perhaps I should play you more often then to get my practice up to not embarrass myself vs Akers/Jamsiep too much.

Every time I've played against Barca I get Xavi scoring belting free-kicks against me, I don't have a clue how to take free kicks / do most things.

I scored an own goal inside 4 minutes against Akers.

I too do not know how to score freekicks. Not much better with corners either.

I changed my formation against you and think it made a difference.

I had my chances against Akers (not saying i would have won) but couldnt score. Much better now and managed to put 6 past a mate last night.

Only doing the 1 transfer? I guess you either did Gerrard to Fabs or Bale to VDV? 🙂
Altho u need a keeper and Yaya is a doubt.

From looking at our teams and guessing your formation i'd say i have a slight advantage. However, either of us could win and captain choice will have a big say.

He might just play 30 mins next week.

He might have been rushed back too quick and get hurt again.

Surely worth waiting till GW10, he wont go up in price unless he scores heavily in next 2 games, which is unlikely imo.

He said he was fully fit by Tuesday, with his next game being almost two weeks after that I can't see them giving their captain 30 minutes. If he's fit he plays.

I've got 2 free transfers and Graham Dorrans, I can't see any way I don't get him in.

He can't afford to protect him when they've lost the last 2 league games. He's fit, he will start and if they are comfortable then he may get subbed after an hour but by then he would have racked up 10+ points.
