Carlo Ancelotti has once again taken the step to name his lineup in advance for a Premier League game and the headline news is that Didier Drogba is not in the side.

According to the Chelsea boss Drogba was taken ill this week and was not able to train, ruling him out of the trip to Villa…

“Drogba had a fever this week and was not able to train, he started today but is not fit. He took antibiotics in the last days and needs to train next week and I’ll know if he is available for the game in the Champions League.”

This is obviously huge news for Fantasy Managers with Drogba owned by almost 50% of Fantasy Premier League game. Given the nature of his absence and his FPL price rise, it seems likely that many Fantasy Managers will look to bench the striker – it’s one of those occasions the where the strength of the bench is out to the test and this could well be a significant Gameweek in the Fantasy season as a result.

The loss of Drogba opens the way for Gael Kakuta to come into the side – that presents a very intriguing option given that the 19-year old is classed as a 5.4 midfielder in the FPL. We may see some opportunist Fantasy Managers gamble on his differential, although the trip to Villa is hardly an easy fixture to rely on such a short-term gamble.

Elsewhere in the Chelsea lineup we have it confirmed that John Terry is fit and available to take his place alongside Ivanovic; that allows Paulo Ferreira to come in at right-back. Frank Lampard is not available however with Ancelotti stating that he needs more time to recover from an adductor injury…

“[Lampard] is getting better but he needs to have some weeks again, maybe two weeks to be fit 100 percent, he had a problem on his adductor and we have to pay attention. He is working individually and needs two weeks again.”

Ancelotti’s lineup is confirmed as – Cech, Ferreira, Ivanovic, Terry, Cole; Ramires, Essien, Mikel; Kakuta, Malouda, Anelka.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

I've just looked at the heat maps for every home game we've had this season, and every time Malouda and Drogba have played together, Malouda's average position has been further up the pitch than Drogba. For example:

I'm not gonna replace Drogba so need to bring in a midfielder with best points potential.
Nani may not start so who else? (have Fabs, VdV, Arteta, Malouda & Albrighton) Wouldn't worry if Fabs was playing! Any suggestions?

Just looking on twitter, and it seems that quite a few people manage to find out what the Liverpool team is early... and every single person who posts a team comes up with the same one (the one that sparticas posted last night).

    Reina
    Johnson-Carragher-Skrtel-Konchesky
    Lucas-Poulsen
    Meireles-Gerrard-Cole
    Torres

          Yes you do.

Tevez. Away to a team which love to attack and have conceeded 2 goals in each of their home games so far to Blackburn and Fulham

If Man city do anything Tevez should be involved.

I worry that United could win 2 or 3 nil and Rooney or Berba could come away with the points not Nani.

at least you know if that team is wrong you can ignore everyone of those "sources" in the future. that pretty much has to be the side due to injuries and maxi beings pants. the only other possibility is gerrard drops deep with lucas and jovanovic comes in and shifts cole into the middle.

It's the logical team, aside from Meireles playing on the right... (Perhaps Gerrard is playing on the right?! That would make him happy...)

Gerrard's best position is undoubtedly playing off Torres, and Jovanovic is a pile of wank.

    El-Mohammadi, Jones, ALEX, (Faye, Dann)
    Nani(c), Malouda, Arshavin, Bale, (Albrighton)
    DROGBA, Caroll, Tevez

If anyone knew that he would wildcard soon or really wanted a crazy gamble I think Anelka is the man to look for rather than Kakuta. In CL for example where Drogba has been banned, Anelka has scored heavily. Same goes for other occasions over the last seasons when Drogba has been missing, although this is from my head and I have no actual source.

It's been a topsy-turvy week for transfer selections. I'm happy to take a bigh pijnt hit IF I feel I can profit from it short and long term. Earlier in the week, it was...

    Arshavin > Fabregas
    Konchesky > Williamson
    Bale > VDV
    Shawcross > Coleman

...which I felt could get me +12 points at least. However with Fabs ruled out and Konchesky back, I decided to go for no transfers. Now that Drogba is back out, I'm considering either...

Konchesky OR Shawcross > Coleman OR Williamson

    Any opinions?

I'm thinking of Faye --> Coleman. Might be worth a punt for you to get him in, especially considering how poorly Liverpool have been playing.

Since Fab is out Im holding fire on that change...and tempted to keep Torres for one more week...

Could do Samba-Mummy and still have 2 changes next week to get Fabs in and downgrade Torres..what we think?

    Was planning:

    This week
    Torres-Elmander

    next week
    Dempsey-Fabs
    1 free change

    now?
    Samba-Mummy

    Next week
    Torres and Dempsey-Elmander and Fabs

Thats no help, haha! Im wondering Samba to Mummy or Torres to tevez/Elmander this week.
Fabs has to come in and will for someone, maybe Bale if Dempsey ripping it up, but Dembele is back soon which alters Dempsey's appeal. PLus that change will be next week

    On Wild Card...

Would you play Dann/Jara this week; or transfer in a player such as Toure/Vidic even if it was only for 2 weeks?

The plus is more points probably; the downside is I won't have 2 free transfers for GW10 so any additional injuries could be a problem.

The thing about Chelsea is when Drogba doesn't play, they score a lot of goals, so thinking about putting the C on Malouda...Good idea???

No Lampard, Drogba or Kalou. I think you may be overestimating their team strength. It's Villa away.

Well he is playing Everton, could see him getting injured and getting you 1-2 points.
