Carlo Ancelotti has once again taken the step to name his lineup in advance for a Premier League game and the headline news is that Didier Drogba is not in the side.

According to the Chelsea boss Drogba was taken ill this week and was not able to train, ruling him out of the trip to Villa…

“Drogba had a fever this week and was not able to train, he started today but is not fit. He took antibiotics in the last days and needs to train next week and I’ll know if he is available for the game in the Champions League.”

This is obviously huge news for Fantasy Managers with Drogba owned by almost 50% of Fantasy Premier League game. Given the nature of his absence and his FPL price rise, it seems likely that many Fantasy Managers will look to bench the striker – it’s one of those occasions the where the strength of the bench is out to the test and this could well be a significant Gameweek in the Fantasy season as a result.

The loss of Drogba opens the way for Gael Kakuta to come into the side – that presents a very intriguing option given that the 19-year old is classed as a 5.4 midfielder in the FPL. We may see some opportunist Fantasy Managers gamble on his differential, although the trip to Villa is hardly an easy fixture to rely on such a short-term gamble.

Elsewhere in the Chelsea lineup we have it confirmed that John Terry is fit and available to take his place alongside Ivanovic; that allows Paulo Ferreira to come in at right-back. Frank Lampard is not available however with Ancelotti stating that he needs more time to recover from an adductor injury…

“[Lampard] is getting better but he needs to have some weeks again, maybe two weeks to be fit 100 percent, he had a problem on his adductor and we have to pay attention. He is working individually and needs two weeks again.”

Ancelotti’s lineup is confirmed as – Cech, Ferreira, Ivanovic, Terry, Cole; Ramires, Essien, Mikel; Kakuta, Malouda, Anelka.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

normally i'd agree but chelsea's bench is pretty disgusting for their standards lately. If all goes tits up you'd like to think drogba would be available off the bench as for all their youthfull merits sturridge and maceachran aren't going to rescue a game. as it was illness not an injury there is no risk in giving drogba some minutes

With Drogba and Fabregas being out, my plans for the GW and WC have had to change.

This is now my new team:

    Jaask (Foster)
    Mummy Toure Salcido O'Shea (Jara)
    Malouda VDV Nani Adam Nasri
    Carroll(Drogba Odemwingie)

This leaves 4.5m in the bank to do Nasri to Fabs next GW.

    Any thoughts?

im 90 % doin it yeah- jsut tryin to work out oif he starts or not. Class is permanent, i agree.

Thing is right, so many people are gonna have hits taken this week, but few will go for Rooney, cos drogba will stay on the bench- its the kind of risk that gets you into the top few thousand man, and if it doesnt work, the all round damage shouldnt be too badd cos fabs and drogs are injured anyways.

Defence is fine imo, I have Boateng instead of Samba and O'Shea instead of Cole and Simpson instead of Alcaraz, who is a doubt for the weekend btw: http://www.wiganlatics.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10429~2185203,00.html

I have Adam instead of Barton at the minute for an identical midfield, and have decided to keep Malouda for this week at least, see how he does, and then maybe downgrade to Arteta.

I may go balls to the wall and take Drogba OUT and Rooney IN, I will be paying .4 more to get Drogba back in, but so be it, sometimes the value game gets boring. Good team

Thanks Johhny, glad to hear it. Yeah i heard he was a doubt but he's on my bench this week anyway so i think i'll still keep him, not many better options for that price anyway apart from the defenders we already have and i cant bring in Simpson/Williamson because i already have 3 newcastle players.

Rooney move is a risk but its one that could pay off. I can either see him exploding and scoring a hat trick or else a poor 2 points! I'm going to keep Drogba but only because i have a goodenough squad to cove for him this week. the Arteta move looks good, in a couple of weeks Everton's fixture become much easier. Think i will be losing Malouda too for Fabregas(if i can afford him)!

RBj il think you will find you have got your info wrong regarding Pienaar. What Hunter said was spot on. He was an excellent young talent at AJAX back in early 2000's. Lots of the top clubs were after him and he was held as highly as VDV and sneidjer if not Higher.
He played a massive role in getting AJAX within minutes of the final... It certainly wasnt VDV's team. He actually didnt play the time Hunter was on about due to longterm injury when they reached the semi final with Ibra, Pienaar and sneidjer etc.

    Here is semi final.

I'm talking about TODAY. The here and now. If you got out from your cell a bit more perhaps you'd have more of an understanding of that concept.
Hes shit, shit world cup, no consistency, no impact for everton, his little tricks are nothing without power and pace.

i never said it was VDV's team, just that there were amazing players on that team aswell.

I was waiting on your imminent rebuttal, massive FAIL.

shit, and too small, and no consistency. thats why everton want him gone. Theres no argument here, let's agree to disagree.

                And City aswell.

Remember everyone was buying him in spring last year after the night game where they destroyed City.

He has been excellent for them. Nobody really rates him THAT highly to begin with.

But he has had a very decent career.

look, he's overrated. i had him in my team last year FFS, but he's nowt special, and all was doin gwas speculating on how coleman will have more of a chance if he's let go and if Everton think as i do. Which they do. So that's that.

Fair enough and I hope Coleman starts cos it would be excellent for Ireland and fantasy teams.

I see Felainni is out for 6 weeks: http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11671_6446060,00.html

Just spitballing here, but if he is out, would it be possible for Neville to shift to a defensive midfield position opening up RB for competition between Coleman and Hibbert once Coleman has to move back to RB when Pienaar returns? Would make Coleman a medium term option anyway with risk of rotation, but so many defenders are, and at 4.4, worth the risk?

I was thinking the same today. Would be nice if Coleman has more of a chance to play.

Heitinga is surely out the door anyway soon with his most recent comments, and he is just back from injury, hasn't walked straight back into the team, could be one to watch, question is whether to try and get on that perticular bandwagon now on WC and risk it, or wait and see, Everton's fixtures not amazing in next 2 but nice afterwards, I just don't want to have to make the move in 3 weeks when everyone else is (if he looks like staying in team)

I hope Drogba's price doesn't drop now, as I have got him and it would be an advantage to the 50% (and rising) managers that haven't got him, if they want to bring him in.

Villa gone from 5/1 into 3.9 to one. 2500 quid just got wagered on villa in the last 15 minutes. Seems theres a bit of a run on- they usually end in failure, but ive got 20 quid that hopes otherwise!
