Carlo Ancelotti has once again taken the step to name his lineup in advance for a Premier League game and the headline news is that Didier Drogba is not in the side.

According to the Chelsea boss Drogba was taken ill this week and was not able to train, ruling him out of the trip to Villa…

“Drogba had a fever this week and was not able to train, he started today but is not fit. He took antibiotics in the last days and needs to train next week and I’ll know if he is available for the game in the Champions League.”

This is obviously huge news for Fantasy Managers with Drogba owned by almost 50% of Fantasy Premier League game. Given the nature of his absence and his FPL price rise, it seems likely that many Fantasy Managers will look to bench the striker – it’s one of those occasions the where the strength of the bench is out to the test and this could well be a significant Gameweek in the Fantasy season as a result.

The loss of Drogba opens the way for Gael Kakuta to come into the side – that presents a very intriguing option given that the 19-year old is classed as a 5.4 midfielder in the FPL. We may see some opportunist Fantasy Managers gamble on his differential, although the trip to Villa is hardly an easy fixture to rely on such a short-term gamble.

Elsewhere in the Chelsea lineup we have it confirmed that John Terry is fit and available to take his place alongside Ivanovic; that allows Paulo Ferreira to come in at right-back. Frank Lampard is not available however with Ancelotti stating that he needs more time to recover from an adductor injury…

“[Lampard] is getting better but he needs to have some weeks again, maybe two weeks to be fit 100 percent, he had a problem on his adductor and we have to pay attention. He is working individually and needs two weeks again.”

Ancelotti’s lineup is confirmed as – Cech, Ferreira, Ivanovic, Terry, Cole; Ramires, Essien, Mikel; Kakuta, Malouda, Anelka.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

    Uniteds defence this week?

    O'shea Ferdy Vidic Evra?

Anyone see it being anything different?

I'm tempted to go for Evra this week, due to the unpredictability at RB. Good move?

He's cheaper, wont be rotated EVER, and scores more goals and bonus points than Evra.
Evra was the man last season when he was 6.5m and vidic was 8 but this season its different

    Foster
    Mummy / O’Shea / P.Jones
    Malouda / Arshavin / S Davies/ Petrov
    Drogba / Tevez (C) / Carroll

Bench: Jussi, Routledge, Konchesky, Alex (in that order)

Thinking of doing Nani to Arshavin? Or should I leave it, with Fabs out (and Arshavin on pens for instance)? Routledge will come in for injured Drogba.

    Nani transfer?
    Right captain?
Right bench (given Konchesky is fit)?

    Thanks.

So does a weakened Chelsea, both at the front and back, plus him being unlikely to play next week, make Malouda the more obvious one to drop for Nani than Gerrard?

    RM WC team:

    Foster, Krul

    A. Cole, Samba, Elmohamady, Alcaraz, Jara

Malouda, Nani, Arteta, Van Der Vaart, Albrighton

    Drogba, Tevez, Carroll

Fabregas' fitness situation is really annoying, and with Drogba out too, I'll probably have to play Albrighton. O well...

    I know this is blasphemy.

But this may not be a bad time for some people to sell Drogba. If you bought him in the last few weeks you won't really lose much and he's not going to rise in price for next few weeks you'd think.

Added to which, chelsea have tough fixtures coming up, this may be a good time to go for differentials.

Well, that's enough of my heresy for one day. Carry on lamenting O my fellow Drogba owners!

    krul ( foster )

    jones , konchesky , o shea , faye

    malouda , nani (c) , bale , etherington

    carrol , berbatov

    (drogs , etuhu , alex)

Is this team okay because I cant see anyone worth bringing in for a 4pt hit

balls, this leaves my mrs's team with all 3 subs - Etuhu, Sagna, Baptiste and now Drogba on the bench!

Already made a sub this week so gonna have to take a 4 point hit, so
I'm thinking Etuhu to either Barton, Albrighton or De Jong. I only have 4.7 in the bank.

    What do you reckon?

hello lads...with Drogba out this week I want to strengthen my midfield...as of now it is...malouda/nani/arshavin/bale/gera

I want to remove gera so who is my best option for 6.5? (this would be a free transfer). Etherington? A. Johnson? N'Zogbia? Adam? Someone else?

    Hi All,

A little help for an amateur please. I've read here that it would be smart to leave Drogba on the bench rather than transferring him out and then back in next week. Is this because there will be a change in price and you will lose money on that transfer? Isn't that a lot of value to be left sitting on the bench? Thanks.

      basically
peoples price rise depends on how many people bring him in and how he performs

so if next week more poeple bring him in and he price rises youd lose 0.1 or 0.2 depending on how much he rises

and considering chelseas games are likely to pick up the drogs shud b gettin more and more

Got ya. Screw it, I'm going to take the 0.1 or 0.2 hit and throw Chamakh attack or Berbatov in. Thanks man.

The Guardian predicts them from the squads. Don't know how accurate they are historically though!
