A game being billed as the most important Merseyside derby in years kicks off a double bill of Sunday afternoon fixtures. NESV-owned Liverpool travel up the road to city rivals Everton, with both sides looking for only their second win of the campaign.

Everton will already be confident of inflicting defeat on their arch-rivals for the first time in the league for over four years, but that confidence will be bolstered with the team news. Jamie Carragher fills in at right-back for the injured Glen Johnson, Steven Gerrard partners Lucas Leiva in defensive midfield and Phil Jagielka passes a late fitness test to play…

Everton XI: Howard, Neville, Jagielka, Distin, Baines, Coleman, Heitinga, Arteta, Osman, Cahill, Yakubu

Liverpool XI: Reina, Carragher, Skrtel, Kyrgiakos, Konchesky, Gerrard, Lucas, Meireles, Cole, Maxi, Torres

The final game of the day sees Manchester City visit Bloomfield Road, with most fantasy-managers praying for contrasting returns for a certain Argentinian. That game kicks off at 4pm.

The Dugout Discussion is open as usual and is awaiting your participation.

Gerrard bonus points? Slightly biased, but I thought he was one of the best players on the pitch... Could have had a hatful of assists, and was the only Liverpool player showing any sort of effort.

    Distin 3
    Cahill 2
    Gerrard 1

Do people actually think that Coleman deserves any BPs?! I sure as hell don't. There were plenty of Everton players much more deserving than him.

Coleman did very little in the 2nd half. He doesn't deserve BP's, but knowing the judges he may get some. I have him though, so it's all good.

Entering the day on a quite frankly stunning 14 points, I thought things were looking up when Arteta scored.

Then I noticed that Jagielka was on my bench, and not in my side as I had thought. Anyone know Phil Jones lives? If I kneecap him, Jags comes in to almost double my score.

Exactly the same, without Nani being captained I'd have been really doing awfully.

Joe cole was anonimous, hence his early substitution.

As long as Tevez and Adam get a few points between them and Jones doesn't score for Blackburn tomorrow night then I should be through in the cup

Anyone who was waiting for GW10 to do Gerrard ---> Fabs now thinking of doing it earlier?

I guess it's probably safer to wait and see if De Jong kills him first

What's extremely vexing is this new trick that managers have of putting my players (Yaya, Albrighton) in the squad to make me think they're going to play, then not even putting them in the subs!!

Is Kolo Toure injured? Popular consensus was that he was the only cert in City's defense.

I'd say no. ferrara at home to Blackburn and Fab away to Man City - leave it another week. Maybe save your transfer so you have 2.

Agreed. i have 2 free transfers this week. Think Ill hold off on Fabs for now (as hard as it is) and get him GW10.

De Jong may break both his legs at Man City anyway

Fab's price isn't going to rise and unlikely Gerrards will fall - so at the very least wait until the European games are done and dusted.
