Another week, another notch on the ticker passes by. That means that it’s time to consult the updated version in our sidebar and locate those potentially profitable streaks, with the fixture computer appearing to smile on some of the Premier League’s “lesser lights” right now…

The Highs…

West Brom
Roberto Di Matteo’s side have been somewhat of a revelation, peaking of late with results at the Emirates and Old Trafford; they’ve also managed to keep an unbeaten home record. All of this without the performances last year’s player of the season Graham Dorrans can provide. With three reasonable home fixtures in the next six (FUL, MCY, STK) and three away trips which should spawn a few goals (blp, whm, wig), investment in their attacking players looks a very decent option. Indeed, City at home and Everton away are their toughest looking games in the next eight Gamweeks. The unassuming Chris Brunt has been picking up points consistently at only 5.4, James Morrison is even cheaper at 4.5 and Peter Odemwingie shouts out at only 5.2 up front. The latest on him is that he’s still struggling for the Fulham clash this weekend, so keep your ear to the ground on eyes on our team news and tweets for the latest before considering that move further.

West Ham
Slowly, slowly catchy monkey. Bottom of the table they may very well be, but West Ham are an improving side and have the fixtures to come in the next few weeks to go on building. Their next five Gameweeks hand them home ties against all three of this season’s promoted sides, as well as a trip to Birmingham (so-so, sure) and one to Arsenal (not one for the defenders, certainly). Scott Parker (5.4) is always the key figure in midfield, although Mark Noble’s (5.4) spot-kicks are getting him noticed. Investment in the bargain strike-force of Victor Obinna (5.5) and Frederic Piquionne (5.1) is perhaps more likely, while Da Costa (4.8) is a growing presence at the back and that’s beginning to interest the FPL Bonus judges.

Blackpool
Unfortunate in their defeat to Man City on Sunday, “plucky little Blackpool” are close to shedding that patronising label as they continue to put in displays of no-fear flowing football. We stressed it last week and we will emphasise it again – after a bout of away games, they’ve now got the fixtures on their side and are offering Fantasy Managers with decent potential in the budget bracket. Their attacking assets remain tempting, with Charlie Adam (currently in the Fantasy Premier League dream team), DJ Campbell and Luke Varney (both 4.5) all an ever-present danger to the opposition.

Also to consider: Bolton, Newcastle, Man United and, if you really need to gamble, Liverpool.

The Lows…

Sunderland
The Black Cats seem to have been stuck in a spell of testing opposition since day one. Not a week goes by without Steve Bruce’s side being flagged up in the worst possible way in our “frisking”. Away games at Newcastle, Tottenham and Chelsea continue to offer little encouragement for investment however, and while Darren Bent and Elmohammady seem to offers potential returns regardless of opposition, there’s little doubt that they’re getting little assistance from the fixture list. Form at the Stadium of Light is solid, but away from home things are pretty much disastrous. Three draws and a defeat this season fail to mask the fact that they’ve won just 2 of their last 33 away games – a staggering stat and one that will hardly fill Fanatsy Managers with confidence given their forthcoming schedule.

Blackburn
Last night’s 0-0 draw with the Black Cats signalled the start of a run of games that will test Blackburn’s progress and could have Fantasy Managers shedding any of their remaining assets. The spell starts with a trip to Anfield – a good time to pay a visit perhaps but even so, it’s hardly a potential Fantasy payday at either end of the field. This is followed by away games at Newcastle and Spurs and home encounters with Chelsea and Villa. It’s tough to spot a clean sheet in that run of five, which means that owners of Chris Samba and Phil Jones will have to keep fingers and limbs crossed for attacking returns; not a great scenario.

Wolves
Horrible, just horrible. That’s a pretty kind way of describing the four fixtures about to wheel their way into Wolves’ line of sight this week. Given the form that Mick McCarthy’s men have shown against the “weaker” opposition, Wolves could well be about to sink further into the mire. It all starts with a trip to Stamford Bridge this weekend, before both Man City and Arsenal pop down to Molineux. With an Old Trafford trip to follow that, Wolves have basically got to play this season’s likely “big four”, including arguably the two toughest fixtures of the season. McCarthy is putting a brave Yorkshire face on the situation, but the HMS Wolverhampton is a sinking ship under fire right now.

I have an almost identical problem. I'm going with Elmo/Boateng/Jara also at the moment, though am tempted to bring in Salcido for Jara as I do see West Brom conceding. He looked pretty good at the weekend too I thought.

    Hi guys,

I dont usually ask and live our die by my decisions but after starting well my team has let me down, funnily enough since i wildcarded...mortal mistake as its proved. Could i kindly as that people comment on my squad and suggest a move or two they'd prioritise? Ive got a couple of moves in mind, Bale to Nzog this week and Coleman next week but im interested in what you guys think? Zero in the bank.

    Robinson Foster
    Williamson Konchesky O'Shea Faye Gohouri
    Barton Bale Fabregas Malouda Nani
    Berbatov Elmander Drogba

You have a handy team for this weekend, I would get rid of Faye first out of that lot, Stoke are at home to United and aren't the same force they were at home, fixtures are rubbish enough too with Man U and Pool at home and 2 away games in next 4. Faye OUT Jara IN this weekend, Brom have nice home game and it frees up .5 for you.

N'Zog is a good move, when Wigan play at home he invariably gets BP's if nothing else, but I would prefer VDV for his good fixtures in GW 12 and 13, so would try and free up another .4 by selling Konchesky for Coleman and then Bale to VDV the following week, so a 3 week plan. Only proviso with Coleman is he may be rotated soon, but we just can't tell, it may be clearer next week and the week after

Thanks Johnny, thats a really good suggestion. I was also thinking of getting Bosingwa and or Kolarov for a big 3 defense on the cheap. Its tough, when i played the WC there werent that many options, now there are loads. This makes it interesting of course but also oh so tempting to take those hits which i promised i wouldnt do this year.

      Some suggestions:
      Bale to Adam
O'Shea to Bosingwar (or wait for Kolarov if you fear 3 chelscums)
      Faye to Jara
      Williamson to Simpson

Thanks Gaz. Bozzy is definately on my list as is Kolarov. What are peopls thoughts on malouda. I thought he was season keeper but there are a number of cheaper alternatives now that would allow me to get tevez in. VDV, Nzog and Arteta etc.

Williamson » Simpson is a bit risky - surely he'll be slowly brought back from injury? A straight swap is unlikely as Williamson has been fairly effective in the NU back 4.

Is anyone else having the Nzogbia OR Adam dilemma? JU just posted he might bench Adam this weekend, but I get the feeling Adam is like Elmo - fixture proof. If you have them you play them.

My idea(prior to this weekend's 15pt haul)was to bring Nzogbia this week at home vs Bolton. BP & wigan rotate well so I thought you can play one & bench the other.

That's my point, if you have either one of the 2 Charlie's you need to play them week in / week out as they could rip any team apart.

    A bit of a dilemma.

I think there is more potential in the Wigan team, Blackpool are dogid and effective, I just think N'Zogbia has that slight little bit more. That being said, Charlie Adam hogs all of the set pieces and that is reason enough to sway your vote. I am always reluctant getting too caught up in a players good week, so much so that I play him the next week expecting the same thing, only to be disappointed.

My dilemma was around whether I should play O'Shea away to a struggling to score Stoke or play Adam away to a resolute and well organised Birmingham.

If I had neither right now, with his fixtures, I would go for N'Zogbia, and only reason I didn't last week on WC was because Adam was 5.2, due to rise, I got the rise, and thought "what the hell, I'll leave him in and hope for a further .1 to make a profit,he has alright fixtures", N'Zog was that .2 too dear for me at the time

Ok lads lets please switch it per minute to UCL fantasy for a moment. Currently 40th overall but planing to win it this year or top 10 hahhah 🙂

The questions I am gonna raise are:
Is Fabregas gonna start or should I keep faith with Nasri as my Arsenal representative?

Man Utd lineup. Is Nani starting and what the back for will look like. Is Vidic gonna start? Rafael. Vidic, Rio, Evra IMO or? Smalling maybe? The've already lost points but won at Valencia. Is Fergie gonna send second strip out there? But even than Nani is gonna play right? Cause Park, GIgs, Valencia all injured he has to right?

I would love to here your thinkings.

I have Nasri and am keeping him in, Fabregas will not start in my opinion, and if he does, I am still happy enough with Nasri this week. I have already done Benzema OUT Anelka IN and may burn 2 points on another switch, I wanted Man U players too, but at the moment it is nigh on impossible to tell what side Fergie will put out, Smalling played first, not second, doubt Rio will play in Champions League and play Stoke at weekend where the defence needs to start getting things right in the league. I would fancy Evans to come in for a start alongside Smalling maybe, O'Shea in at RB, or maybe Evans at LB and Vidic to start alongside Smalling.

Nani is by no means guaranteed a start, but with all the goings on in the news, United need a win tomorrow night, we don't want to be going into the weekend on the back of a loss or another draw! Am steering clear of United players in UCL

Thanks a lot Johnny, very helpful , but I think that Nani could score plenty of points in this two games against Bursa. And regarding point hits in CL I have always done it. Its only minus 2 so 4 or 6 point hit its nothing cause there are always plenty of games where there a lot of goals so I encourage UCL Fantasy Managers to take them.

P.S. I won't do the Anelka switch it could be easily 0:0 there. What are your other strikers? But Benzema has to go IMO.

Mummy - didn't impress me last night, but still not a bad option. Not great fixtures though.

Jones - OOP but as a DM and although I have him, he offers very little attacking threat.

Stam - too much of a risk for me.

Cashley - not OOP but may aswell be. Too expensive for me now but will easily be top scoring defender.

Coleman - I'm a big fan and just hope he cements his place.

I would never go near Stam yet, more specualting here. I won't go near Coleman unti after the Spurs game but his performance on Sunday may make him hard to leave out for Moyes now. Osman's injury only makes him more appealling.

Sunderland have kept CS against City and United so they are pretty solid nowadays.

I agree on Jones having little attacking threat but I would still rather him there than CB. Only seen him v Blackpool and get forward a lot more than I expected.

Cashley is becoming a bit of a must-have for me. And I hate spending this on defenders. gonna wait till the fixtures ease, by which point I am hoping the Bos situation will be clearer.

cheap as possible but with some logic, i.e OOP and stoke/blackburn/wolves/birmingham etc. OOP looks the way forward though with these particually defensive temas coming up against harder opposition/away games.

think i'm gonna do back three of acole/elmo/coleman for the foreseeable future, 3-4-3

Yes, Liverpool and newcastle are beatable. Just cause its a hard fixture, doesnt mean he cant score, look at West brom.

    SAYING THAT
with the frisk in mind and his off pitch turmoils,

is carroll to odemwigngngneie ( presuming hes past fit)
    an ideal move

i know this was discussed to death when odem got his write up from mark, but things have shifted in his favour now, no?

Wheyhey, a nice result on the Ubecha weekend wager. Level pegging in 1st place with my nearest rival going last night's game. A pot of 150 Euros at stake. But he had a player still to score in the Blackburn Sunderland game, and I didn’t. All his player had to do was score 1 measily point and the first place was his. What could go wrong?

    Step forward...Christopher Samba.

I did a little dance when he got red carded. Kerching, 90 Euros better off. Tra la la.

Sorry to brag, but that’s what bragging rights were invented for.

The cash makes up nicely for a pretty average week in the main event…

      Konchesky > Coleman

Everton are without Pienaar, Fellaini, Rodwell and possibly now Arteta + they have a decent run of fixtures where coleman could well cement his place and figure for assists + the CS points with a strong defence.

    Regarding Ashley Cole,

Is it just me that sees Cashley as an extention to your attackers? To me, he is a winger who get a bonus each week for a cleansheet. And at 8.0 mil is real value for money?

I have seen a few commenst recently (cant't justify spending that much on a defender, Alex/bosingwa/Ivan is cheaper. For me he is a player who consistnly score 6-9 points week in week out. There isn't a midfielder/stricker who delivers the amount of points, constantly, so if he is in defence, midfiled or attack, it doesn't make any difference, its teh points that count....

    Thoughts?
