Drogba or bust.

That’s pretty much what the results of our Captain’s Poll is telling us this week; Didier Drogba is set to walk away with the armband crown at a canter, and is on 57% of those polled to date. It’s a one horse race, unless of course, you fancy a gamble or find yourself forced to back another nag.

Will a french filly named Malouda be enough to tempt you his way instead? He’s currently galloping along in second place with just 12% of your vote to date; behind him in third is the new flourishing breed from Holland – Van Der Vaart’s form is good but he’s still only clocked up a modest 8% of the vote to this point.

The real long shots aren’t getting much of a look in from our betting public. The horses in question are Carlos Tevez, Nani and Ashley Cole, all straggling along at the back, with just a few punters willing to gamble their Fantasy stake money. The remainder of the runners include the likes of Dimitar Berbatov, Fernando Torres, Gareth Bale, Cesc Fabregas and Steven Gerrard – all big big names who to this point, have gathered just 7% of the vote. Conditions will surely improve for that pack in future Gameweeks, but as far as this weekend is concerned, they’re doing all they can to avoid the glue factory.

So, who are you backing? Don’t forget to go to the frontpage and place your vote and let us know all the same. Particularly if you’re one of the brave, or foolish, few who will be looking beyond the Ivorian thoroughbred.

Did someone say earlier that Simon Davies is out? Nothing in team news or injuries sections. Please say it ain't so. If he's out and Malouda is rested and Petrov is dropped, I'll have only 2 in MF!

Current team linked (Please ignore the 19 points sitting on the bench for last week - painful stuff!)

Thinking Samba -> Bosingwa this week (team news dependant)

    Then Nasri -> Fabs
and Tevez -> a cheaper striker (Elmander/Varney probably)

    Good plan? Any other thoughts?

Do people think Rooney will start for Utd over the next few games? My initial plan was to get rid for Drogba and give him the armband, but GW10 and 11 are much better for Utd than Chelsea, and will mean I can fix up my defence this week, which currently has these 3 clowns starting (Jara, Williamson, P Jones).

    So, should I

    a) Do the Rooney -> Drog swap and captain drog, or
    b) Keep Rooney for next 3 games, then get drog in, and this week sort out defence?

In that case, do you think i should do Rooney -> Drog or Berbs this week. Obviously Drog is the better option for GW9, but I think Berbs is better GW10 and 11, plus the Berb transfer would mean my GW10 transfer would be Noaln/Etherington out for Fabs rather than Malouda out for Fabs...

        reckon malouda, nani, that's it

possibly fabs and VDV if ur gonna count european games and fa cup as well.

defo not lampard though. he's injured for a start, and plays too deep, like gerrard. fabs is good for assists but can't see him getting over 20 goals in the league, vdv will undoubtably get crocked for a couple of months and that would be the end of his form.

Brilliant. Can't wait till the ugly tw*t warms up in front of his smitten fans...

big balls. notice he also said we have to be patient with bosingwa. people might as well buy zhirkov if they want a chelsea defender for 1 week

Stevie G did something similar when we won the champions league in 2005. He was going to Chelsea... then he got a bumper contract.

Waynes done exactly the same, depends whether the united fans take to him

I have no idea what to do with this one. Ferguson vs Carroll. I imagine a lot of people have thse two? Or a few anyway. Ferguson at home to Blackpool where he has a chance of picking up some bonus (he's recorded 8 bonus points in his last 4 home games) verus Carroll who could get anything between 2-12+

    Thoughts?

Same problem. My gut feeling was Ferguson, but now I'm swaying towards Carroll.
