Im Not Marshal Foch Im Not Marshal Foch

Chatter in the Fantasy Football Scout halls this week has been constant and along the lines of;

“I’m thinking of bringing Fabregas in, I need to take a hit, who should I get rid of?”

Given the fact that second placed Arsenal are at home to struggling West Ham, this comes as no surprise. The incredibly influential Spaniard would be an obvious pick for captain given his ability to unlock defences with his passing and goal scoring prowess.

However, todays game against Manchester City would have given a number of managers food for thought about whether tinkering with their side and taking hits to get Fabregas in is really essential after the performance of fellow Arsenal Midfielder Samir Nasri.

The Frenchman has scored 7 goals in 11 games this season in all competitions with 3 assists. 4 of those 7 goals have come in the league with his solitary league assist in todays game, setting up Nicholas Bendter for Arsenals third goal. In the FPL game, he has also picked up 9 bonus points this season which perhaps understates his contribution.

Whilst there is no doubting that long term Fabregas offers a greater potential return, at £7.4m Nasri is 4.4 million pounds cheaper than Cesc, and for those without a limitless pot of money or not wanting to take out other potential big hitters such as Malouda or Nani he could provide an alternative source of points.

One factor in the thought process may well be the penalty miss by Fabregas. Whilst there is little to suggest that this miss will see the Spaniard removed from penalty taking duty, given the fact that a number of Nasri’s goals this season have come from the spot in Fabregas’s absence, a number of people will keep a keen eye on the Arsenal penalty taker should the recent flurry of Arsenal penalty’s continue.

Away from the Arsenal game, Manchester United notched up a 2-1 win against Stoke at the Britannia. Both of United’s goals were scored by Javier ‘Chicharito’ Hernandez. These were goals 4 and 5 for the young Mexican in a United shirt and will only have added to a blossoming reputation. Two goals, one of which which was marvellously improvised back header (i’ve never said that before), will have proved to many that  he all the attributes required to be a big star at Manchester United.

In Wayne Rooney’s absence, this was Hernandez’s second consecutive start in the Premier League and with Rooney’s injury looking to keep him out for a further 2 to 3 weeks there is a good chance that the little pea will continue to get starts. Certainly if he continues in a similar form, as a short term solution at £6.9m, he appears to be something of a bargain. Naturally it’s nearly impossible to determine whether or not he will start but what does seem likely is that if he is given starts he’s a huge goalscoring threat.

if you worry about injuries during the week: wait until friday or saturday.

      * Torres might have had some transfer protection so it is not 100% certain he will drop (someone knows more of this than me I reckon)

...and here's what Man City's website says about Tevez

The City skipper did not see out the game, having been replaced just after half time, but thankfully his condition does not look to be serious with just under a week to City's next game.

"We don't think it is a bad one, he took a knock in a muscle in the second half but it should be OK," reported the manaager.

i think the key issues for the evening are whther fabregas and tevez are injured, and to a lesser extent arteta. Therefore, its a waste of time deciding on transfers until information is on board. EVEN, to save.1 million, which, i’d like to point out, is ONE THOUSANDTH, or the budget.

I would therefore posit that it’s a complete wate of time for any of us to be thinking out loud on transient transfer thoughts. Much better to spend our time plotting to bomb the Irish apprentice house, all RTE sportspresenters (particularly ryle Nugent, and that fat fool that does the ‘in depth’ aspect and talks pure shite), and bringing down the Irish government, by violent, appaling acts visited on developers, bribed councillors, and Fianna Fail TD’s that have basically turned our country into a meaningless clearing house for international banking.

Oh, and if youve any time left, lets get those fu*kers jedward, and string them up, slowly.

Discuss or dont, im off to find some rope for them two

        yeah man, fond memories.

The rte football punditry does it for me i sose, jsut cos theyre an institution, but the rugby drives me nuts. I like brent, and hook is ok, but nugent and that fat idiot, drive me up the wall.

whaty really get my goat are the f**in news sports people- they are the most talentless, unenthusiastic people on earth. i went to school with one of them, i wont mention names, but watch on eof the guys when he signs off- he does this stupid nod, three times- im telling you, never a bigger social retard on the planet, RTE IS ALL A CLIQUE.

i will however, let yo in on something george hook let slip a few months ago...he used to be tipping Nugent's mother ., i SHIT YOU NOT. the quickly blew over him saying it.
Now listening to that idiot Nugent, and Hooks position on the rugby panel and hes there for life by the way, you tell me how Nugent the fukwit got that job??

He actually embarrasses me when i bring foreign clients out for the games and hes on the tv. WHen i say foreign clients, i do of course mean foreign birds ive picked up on a friday night and end up having the craic all the following day with 🙂

seriously thogh, Nugent=awful=the state of this country.

        we need a revolution

I am a sucker for the soccer dream team - Giles, Dunphy and Brady with Billo in the hot seat playing them like a fiddle.

Not a huge rugby fan but don't mind McGurk and Hook. Popey is ok, Conor O'Shea is bland but I totally agree on Ryle Nugent. I actually watch the games on BBC to avoid that guy and then switch back to RTE for the anlysis.

The GAA mob are getting fairly stale at this stage and could do with a re-vamp. Ger Canning is woeful and Marty Morrissey does my head in.

    N'Zogbia Fabregas Malouda Nani VDV

    Drogba Carroll Tevez

Basically, to sacrifice Tevez or Malouda? Surely it has to be Malouda but then after todays showing, are City that good, Will Tevez play. Is he now a rotation risk anyways? Or shall I just wait until the leagues are updated for this GW at least?

      Wait. Definitely wait.

We still don't know if Tevez is okay or if Fabregas took a knock or not.

No rush, and there aren't really any price rises to chase either, so making a move early would be a bad decision.

Im also worrying about tevez, if they continue with one out and out striker, adebayor and the return of ballotelli will certainly have an impact on his gametime. Its a tricky one

        sorry, didn't see your suggestions.
I would hold on to Malouda if possible...but then you might have to take a hit?

Wow. Nice ranking Evasivo. You know I said I will play you in the cup, I sort of hope I don't now.

          I was lucky with Nasri.

My WC GW8 is turning out to be a better move than I first thought.

Planned to get A. Cole and Nasri in for only 2 gameweeks, and looks how that's played out 😀

I'm still looking at a 4 point hit for Fabregas this GW though, and for once, I'm going to hold off hitting that transfer button until maybe Friday.
