The roundabout otherwise known as “Frisking the Fixtures” is rocking once more as teams go hopping on and off at fantasy manager’s excitement and/or peril. It’s up to us to keep up to speed with all these comings and goings and raise a flag of awareness for the good and the bad, so let’s take a peek at what gameweek ten (and onwards) is telling us…

The Highs…

Everton
David Moyes’ men get their first favourable frisking of the season, and boy it’s a good one. After their usual ploddy start to the season the Everton train has started to pick up pace over recent weeks and the fixtures that coincide (clicking sort by difficulty on your next six ticker will show you they are top dogs) with the form spell excellence with a capital E. The Toffees are set to stay close to home over November as they have four home games in the next six, and they’re quite attractive too (STK, BOL, ARS, WBA); plenty of potential for the forwards in particular, and not so bad for defenders either. Midfielders Tim Cahill and Mikel Arteta should expect to see bumper investment in the coming time, as should ultimate “out of position” candidate Seamus Coleman and the not quite so bargain Leighton Baines from defence.

Bolton
Bolton join the budget parade when it comes to favourable fixtures as they too are about to be sticking close to home a lot over the coming month. Bolton have only lost once so far this term, and that was at Arsenal with ten men, so now the games on their horizon shine brightly the results, in theory, will only improve, and aligned rightly could see a Trotters investment provide hearty returns. Johan Elmander will hopefully bring his away form to the Reebok Stadium and slots alongside Kevin Davies as a potential new striker. Martin Petrov and Chung Yong Lee will provide viable midfield variants and Gary Cahill and Zat Knight will provide your medium and low price defensive options.

Arsenal
Arsenal get drafted back into the considerations with a strong leaning on their fixtures in the next two weeks (WHM, NEW). When it comes to home sides, The Gunners are ones you want to be looking for without question or doubt, so two home fixtures against two of the weaker sides – and reasonable, if not stellar fixtures to follow – in the Premier League sounds a few sirens. Star captain Cesc Fabregas is likely to see a renewed vigour of investment from the fantasy crowd as he provides the answer to the all important captain’s conumdrum for the next two weeks, as well as players like Samir Nasri, Theo Walcott and Marouanne Chamakh all offering an opening at a price not quite as demanding on the budget.

Also to consider: West Ham (but maybe not this week in particular), Man United (with four nice home fixtures and a derby game in six), West Brom (for the long haul) and Blackpool (with a home fixture against the Baggies that looks like it has goals in it).

The Lows…

Blackburn
A simple continuation of the theme from the week previous, Blackburn’s fixtures are not good and investment in their wares carries a great deal of caution with it. Investors in their midfield and attack (anyone?) will be pretty sparse and those with a defender or two in their unit – which will be many people – may need to hunker down and expect clean sheets to be a bit of a commodity over the next month or so.

Birmingham
In two weeks time Birmingham have a pretty nice fixture (at home to West Ham), but other than that everything is most definitely not peachy on the home front, on the away front – on any front. A local derby against Aston Villa this week might appeal but is a fixture that can throw up just as much surprise, but certainly poses a threat – as with the above Blackburn – those who use their Birmingham quota to bolster their defensive unit. Throw in some fixtures with Spurs, Man City and Chelsea not soon after and the bigger picture begins to take shape. Foster, Dann, Ridgewell and co might be expecting to see some of their owners turn heels and run.

Wigan
As an opposite to those clubs highlighted as fixture angels, Wigan join the club of fixture demons with the fact they will be playing away from home four times in November a key contributing factor. Three of those long bus rides aren’t exactly the easiest places to go to either (Craven Cottage, Ewood Park and Old Trafford), which only compounds the fact investors may see trouble ahead, particular with some stern defences in the sight-lines. Rodallega and N’Zogbia are going to have an uphill challenge to get the kind of scores managers will be wanting following their recent uptick in performances.

Be wary of: Wolves (who’s fixtures are still very rough), Sunderland (with three away games in four for the poor travelers) and Spurs (with a mish mash of so-so fixtures).

Yeah, I really liked "Charlie Wilson's war" (written by the same guy who directed this)- hopefully this will be even better...

Nice to see that some film makers are actually still tring to treat their audiences like they're not all mentally underdeveloped teenagers or emotionally overdeveloped spinsters...

I steer clear of any film which seems to base itself on having big names in it: "Wait, shouldn't we write a screenplay for this movie? No- f*ck that, we've got Bruce Willis, Morgan Freeman, Helen Mirren AND John Malkovich."

        No thanks...

Alri lads . The joy of the Mid Term Break . How has everyone been doing in terms of fantasy ? Ive been doing shockin' myself and had to do a double sub this week . I got Richards out for Boswinga and Lampard out for Milner .

    Johnny Evans-Seamus Coleman
    Jussi Jaaskelainen-Paul Robinson
    Zat Knight- Ahmed Elmohamady
    Darren Bent-Carlos Tevez
Yaya Toure -Rafael Van Der Vaart
    Andy Carroll- Nikola Zigic
    Beniot Assou Etto-Phil Jones
    Martin Skrtel-Robert Huth

Seven up to you of course.

Logically you have Chelsea cover with Cole and Drogba. Next two Chelsea games are tricky away games.

            VDV gives you Spurs cover.

Hernandez pretty certain to start the next game.

You can always swap Malouda back from Fabs in a few weeks if you are playing the fixtures.

I'd want to keep both Malouda & VDV so it's tricky really. I don't like Hernandez more than anything, it's very short term, next two games really. As a cheap striker Odemwingie would be better IMO, and with our nice fixtures will be able to keep him for ages.

I am thinking of benching Bale and starting Albrighton.

Tough fixture for Bale, but then he did get a hat-trick against Inter Milan.

Albrighton's lost his place, but could get it back due to him possibly being eased back in after hamstring trouble and illness, plus Villa lost and played better when Albrighton came on.

Also, Foster or Hahnemann, which do I play? I can see both conceding, but at least Hahnemann's at home and Wolves are a bit harder to break down at Molineux.

Let's face it, Ireland's been terrible, and when Houllier reverted back to the 'Ashley Young in the middle playing off the striker' formation that worked ok for them at the start, the side was much better.

He may go with Young in the middle for the derby too, as he will need a result.

'Almost', rather than 'scored twice' v Chelsea. 😉

Being out for a year, (benched rather than crocked), has made him lose his edge. Not saying that he won't get it back but:

Villa without Ireland > Villa with Ireland

            ...for now.

You said he was terrible yet have provided no evidence for such an analysis. He certainly hasnt been "terrible".

There is also no basis to soley contribute Ireland performances overall effect on the team.
If he scored which he should of then they would have beaten the champions Chelsea thus easily defeating your prognosis that the team is weaker with him.

Ok, against Newcastle, on his debut for Villa, he was terrible. (So were many others).

Since then he keeps getting taken off early in games, and has offered very little attacking threat. A shadow of the decent player that he was at City. I put it down to rustiness at the moment, but if he's still not producing come January, then he just isn't all that...

The fact that IF Ireland has scored does not defeat my prognosis that Villa are worse with him in the side! What a ridiculous argument DB.

If I played for Chelsea instead of Malouda this week, and the ball dropped flukily to me in the area and I score a tap-in, enabling Chelsea with me in the side to beat Wolves, that does not mean that Chelsea aren't weaker with me in the side.

Plus Ireland DIDN'T score, so I'm not sure what you're getting at mate. If Scharner scored a hat-trick in every game, he would be playing for Barcelona right now, and this easily defeats the common prognosis that he is a shit player.

I've got Coleman as he is cheaper and OOP.

Everton haven't lost with him starting, conceding only one goal and playing well. Moyes will stick with him until they lose a game, a bit like Bruce sticking by Mignolet. One defeat and Gordon's back in.

Well that is a first for me; just checked the injuries list almost hoping for bad news on one of my midfielders, to make my decision on who to replace with Fabs easier.

Malouda's knock will only hamper him for "two days" but Moyes is only "Hopeful" that Arteta will be fit for Stoke.

Does that make my mind up? Does it heck.

Three days now, churning one dilemma. I'm seriously contemplating doing a Luke Rhinehart...

There was talk on here today of him possibly going off injured but not sure if that was just people worrying as he didn't complete the 90.

Everton have been doing well since he has been starting, so he should keep his place until they suffer a bad result.

He isn't a long-term option though, once Osman and co. are back.

To bring Fab in this week I am forced to make a 4 point hit at the least, but I can't bring myself to part with any of my forwards: Drog, Tevez, Carroll... and I think Nani and VDV have to stay, forcing a Malouda transfer, it's painful getting rid of the top scoring player in the game!!

    1. Malouda > Fab, Alex > Bosingwa 0.0 left in bank (so have to do it now!)
    2. Malouda > Fab, Alex > Coleman 1.1 in bank
    3. Malouda > Fab, Konchesky/Shawcross/Jones > Simpson/Jara

The only way I can get the midfield of Fab, Malouda, VDV, Nani, Adam is if my second transfer is:
        Drogba > 6.9 or less
        Tevez > 4.6 or less

And then it would be too difficult to decide who to bench each week from the front 8

It's a move that will be the subject of some heated debate.

For the move - FloMo has the possibility of rotation hanging over him. Give you significant exposure to Arsenal attacking points. You gain captain material.

Against the move - Errr, hmmmm, ahhhh. Malouda could continue to score/assist I suppose.

Boils down to a very simple thought. Who is more likely to score more points over the next few gameweeks?

Yeah, but it should only cost you 0.5 max, as you make half of the rise in profit.

If Malouda drops 0.1 or 0.2, which could happen if he goes on another barren run, then you could feasibly buy him back not that much more expensive.

Plus the January wildcard will help get him back if you want him for the second half of the season.

Simpson is great value at 3.9, unquestionably. Carroll and Barton great value as well. At the moment Carroll and Barton are in form and getting praised by their manager so until that changes, don't think it's a problem to have all three. you're not exactly 'doubling up', because all three are different positions on the field.

I must be blind because I just noticed he's on 85% on FPL Tools
It does say protected but this darn -1 from FISO has me confused
Probably going to get him in just before he hits 100% just to be safe!

I just assumed the negative one day meant he's a day beyond the 10 or so days they expected him to be protected, so the protection has ceased but they are not sure if it has or hasn't either.

Anyone know how long Bosingwa is likely to be protected for?

      Thinking of doing: Malouda>Fabregas
      Berbatov>Odemwingie
      P.Jones>Bosingwa

-8 but all are for the long term.

Thanks for the Advice. Another one i'm considering is to keep Berbatov and do this:

              Foster>Mignolet/Krul/Al-Habsi
              P.Jones>Simpson
              Dann>S. Taylor
              Malouda>Fabregas!

-12 though and if Steven taylor is not back in for a while it could be calmatous, only other 3.9 defender who is playing is Richard Stearman of Wolves, and his fixtures are terrible!

Nasri is quality but not a nailed on starter like Fabs - that's the long & short of it.

He's a nailed on starter for the considerable future, yet i wouldn't bother with him and just get Fabregas. As you've already transferred Nasri in you may as well wait a week then get Fabregas in.

Wilshire not back until after that game too so Nasri will 100% start.

No way I'm taking Nasri out!

He's got two of the best home fixtures to come.

            Transfers today are:

            Malouda > Fabregas
            Albrighton > Emerton

Emerton... yeah, I needed someone that cost 4.3 to make the move, and he gets a consistent two points in case one of my players gets injured. At least he's not a red card liability like De Jong. Besides, he'll be sitting on my bench 95% of the time. I've had Albrighton for the last 9 gameweeks and played him once (and he didn't play, was auto-subbed GW8). No point spending money on someone I won't play, especially since I won't be dropping Carroll for the next 4 gameweeks or so.

                Yep.

                It's an easy decision really.

We've been doubling on Malouda and Drogba for the last 9 gameweeks, so why not switch to Arsenal for their easy fixtures?

good, agreed. i suppose i just wanted the reassurance. i'll wait until after carling cup and then make the switch as i don't see his price climbing again before then.

He's playing very well, but is clearly for the short term.

It's likely most people will be unable to have both Fabregas or Malouda for the season so it's one or the other really.

Has to be Fab IMO and then three of Drogba/A.Cole/Essien/Bosingwa in your team.

I had an absolutely horrible gameweek, 38 points. Subbing Nasri out for VDV really burned me.

I was planning to bring in Fabregas this gameweek,

1)Do I sub Berbatov/Tevez out for Elmander, then Malouda out for fabregas

2)Or do I sub Tevez out for Chamakh, and Malouda out for Fabregas, then hope arsenal destroy WH and NEW?

Still trying to convince myself that Flo-Mo can Flo-go... Chelsea have used nine midfielders so far this season. Benny is out long term, but with Kalou back, Lamps imminent and Ramires, Kakuta & McEachran all getting time, how likely is it that Malouda will be rested in league games as he was vs West Ham?
