Gunners too much for 10 man City, Liverpool beat Big Sam but stay in the drop zone and Little Pea shows his class. Here’s the rest of this gameweek’s Scout Notes…

Man United managed to win away from home in the league for the first time this season thanks to Javier Hernandez’s double at the Brittania. With the injured Wayne Rooney still a few weeks away from a return, Little Pea showed the club have alternative quality options upfront, with a superbly improvised header for United’s first, as he picked up the maximum 3 Bonus Points. Although this wasn’t reflected in the Bonus Point allocation, Nemanja Vidic put in a superb shift at the back to comfortably nullify the threat of Kenwyne Jones, as well as providing the assist for United’s first.

Stoke slumped to their second defeat on the trot and despite a brilliant equaliser from Tuncay giving Tony Pulis’ side brief hope, United took the lead soon after against a largely uninspiring performance from the home side. With their next two games (eve, sun) things aren’t looking too bright for a side who have yet to pick up a clean sheet on their travels all season.

Liverpool managed a narrow 2-1 win against Sam Allardyce’s Blackburn but still remain in the relegation zone. Sotirios Kyrgiakos grabbed a goal and all 3 Bonus Points and although a Jamie Carragher own goal meant they have now went five games without recording a clean sheet, Fernando Torres second goal of the season proved to be the winner at Anfield.

Sam Allardyce’s side had Paul Robinson to thank for keeping Liverpool at bay; the Blackburn keeper recorded 6 saves in a performance which saw him awarded 2 Bonus Points, making it 5 in the last 2 gameweeks. Robinson is now the highest-scoring budget keeper in the Fantasy Premier League (FPL) game, sitting behind Petr Cech and Joe Hart. Carragher’s own goal means no Blackburn player has scored in any of their three October league games.

The fourth-minute dismissal of Dedryk Boyata at Eastlands meant it was always going to be an uphill struggle for Man City against Arsenal. Despite a spirited performance after going a goal behind midway through the first half, fatigue set in come the final quarter of the game, and City were picked off two more times as the Gunners pass and move proved too much for them. Carlos Tevez limped off in the 53rd minute, though the extent of any injury is yet unclear.

Arsenal even had the luxury of a missed Cesc Fabregas penalty in their 3-0 win over City. Samir Nasri once again showed the form that suggests he may be a cheap alternative to Fabregas, with a goal, assist and all 3 Bonus Points in the match at Eastlands. Alex Song bagged the second and Nicklas Bendtner, returning from injury, scored the third after being on the pitch for just four minutes in an overall team performance that delighted Arsene Wenger.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

Morning all. Got an early morning keeper-combo-question for you.

Can anyone cheer me up and tell me that Joe Hart has a chance of dropping this week?

He is currently on 23% on fantasy tools. He has Wolves next and just saved a penalty.

Yaya Toure dropping £0.1m has royally screwed my plans and need Hart to rise.

I remember when I first started playing FPL, I would be pretty chuffed with about 40 points. Now, I still get the neat feeling when one of my players scores, but a "good week" is generally around the 70pt mark.

A good week is only relative to where you finish in the weekly rank. 70 can easily end in a red arrow.

        Yeah, I was thinking that.

But also, whether you get a red or green arrow can depend on your rank too. Just because there will be a bell curve of sorts, you're more likely to go down the higher up you are.

True, I have got 90 over the past 2 weeks & dropped 4000 spots. Had I been 20000 2 weeks ago, I may well be 50000 now. The goal should be a top 500000 weekly rank then the rest should look after itself.

nasri's form is coming to an end IMO with fabregas back, nani has two home games and is still utd's main man, bosingwa will be rested.
ur proposed defence looks weak, if coleman is dropped (pienaar is back) and bosingwa is rested, shawx has awful fixtures and jara wont keep a clean sheet anytime soon, so u have a 1-man defence in Elmo, who has the tyne-wear derby coming up which should promise goals for both sides

Malouda rotation risks with Lampard coming back? What about Drogba's point potential seemingly less when Lamps is back in, too?

I don't think Lamps really affects Drogba much apart from spot kicks.

I did think that Malouda would be affected by Lampard, but it was pointed out to me that the way they ended up playing at the end of last season, Malouda came in high to the wing and took plenty of shots.

If they keep playing that way, I think Lampard will affect Kalou more than anyone else.

Ok there are a lot of different versions but essentially there's a lot of people here who are looking to drop an expensive player to get Fabregas in.

Say everyone is definitely fit here's a quick straw poll of my current three expensive potential evictees.
Who to drop out of the following to finance the Fabregas move???

My current thinking is to drop Berbs, as I have Nani and while Chelsea's next two game look a bit a bit meh, they get better after that. I can just see Malouda getting on the end of some of Bosingwa's runs. Tevez, if fit is undroppable. I'm thinking long and short term here.

I can only feasably drop Tevez, and may if he's injured. But I'd only drop petrov out of that midfield...

Tevez is my current train of thought - especially now old Mario has come onto the scene.

        So would be:

        Tevez OUT - Elmander IN

        Etherington OUT - Fabs IN

        I would then have Fabs/Malouda/Nani/VDV/Adam as a midfield 5.

        Worth it?

I have Nasri and to bring Fabs in, seems a pretty straight forward swap.

Berbs - keeping him 2 more GWs.

Malouda - still think he'll be good over the next 6 or 7 games so too early to drop.

      Tevez - I don't currently have

So, after a decent gameweek (65pts), I'm looking to tweak:

    Carson (Foster)
Konchesky - Elmo - Dann (Jones, Faye)
    Nasri - Nani - Malouda - VDV (A. Johnson)
    Carroll - Drogba(C) - Tevez

    Two options
    1. Defence doesn't look strong for this gameweek - maybe ship out Faye and get in Coleman?
    2. A.Johnson just isn't doing it given rotation - get rid and stick some extra money in the bank for future GWs by getting in...N'Zog? Barton?

Ashley Cole is out scoring every single midfielder and striker except for Drogba and Malouda. How is he too expensive at 8.2m. With the way Chelsea have been playing it's very likely they will keep getting clean sheets which si at least 6 points a game plus the chances for assists goals and BPs (which he seems to be getting a lot of).

Now I don't have him personally, but if I could get him in without taking so many points hits I'd definitely have him in by now. I'm not saying he's a must but he's certainly not "too expensive to get now".

bosingwa better imo. after 4-5 weeks he should be fully fit i.e. no need to be rested every week, and his rampaging runs should just as likely yield assists. also he is 2.6 million cheaper

Bosingwa is a nice option I admit. Only if he gets regular starts which we can't be sure of at the moment. Although he is the guy I have after last week. Like I said I'm not syaing he's a must for every team but I don't get why people keep saying he's too expensive to get when he keeps scoring so well

He's too expensive to get now. He maybe out scoring Drog & Malouda but for the price of £8.2 it will cripple your team elsewhere. Good to have him at the start of the season, but wouldnt touch him now.

Because you'd have to have at least 2 shit players to afford Cole & 3 average defenders will score more than 1 good & 2 shit. Also as King quite rightly says below it is also down to value.

So why do people have Drogba instead of Elamander. Surely Elmander is better for the value of money?

Plus I don't think a midfield of VDV Nani Fabs Adam and a defence of Cole Elmo and O'Shea would be too "shit".

      It's all down to value.

For instance, Mummy is better value than Cole.

What Cole does have in his favour is that he's pretty much rotation proof so you know he'll be in your team regardless of opposition.

That's just the nature of this game, the lower priced players easily have good value but they still won't shoot you up the rankings by themselves because their scores are just not high enough. You need to mix them up with the players that bring in the points for you as you can only play 11 players each week.

Ashley Cole is great value for money and also brings you lots of points. I personally rather invest in attacking players but that might very well be a big mistake.

So currently with 1.1 in bank -
    Hart
    Bramble, A Cole, O'Shea
    Bale, Malouda, Adam, Nani, Ferguson
    Drog, Carroll, Berb

I'm tempted to bring in Nasri for Bale (as he just doesn't seem to produce points wise anywhere but Europe) and perhaps Hernandez/Chamakh for Berb.

I keep sticking with the 2 of them thinking they'll deliver next week but rarely do.

I'm quite happy to take points hit for more if you guys think of anyone else worth swapping within the team!

The wildcard lets you make unlimited free transfers before the next deadline.

I don't think you NEED to use it with that squad but if you want to freshen things up I wouldn't really blame you for using it either.

The wildcard allows u to make unlimited transfers in a week, usually used when your team is so rubbish that 5-15 changes need to be made. that team is ok imo, no need to wildcard.
