Last weekend saw the return of Jose Bosingwa to Premier League action after a year-long absence with a knee injury and the Chelsea full-back thoroughly impressed against Mick McCarthy‘s Wolves.

Although Chelsea have both Branislav Ivanovic and Paulo Ferreira as options for the right-back slot, Bosingwa is perhaps the best fit for Carlo Ancelotti’s system and the Chelsea boss admitted as much after the 2-0 win, saying:

Bosingwa was one the best players on the pitch. He put a lot of pressure on in the second half by pushing up without the ball and he had opportunities to score. For 70 minutes he played very well and he is an important player for us in the future because we can use his speed and resistance to play better in attacking play.

A look at this Average Position map from the Wolves game indicates there was not much positional difference between Ashley Cole (no.3) and Bosingwa (no.17) on Saturday and suggests that, within this system, Bosingwa can be expected to mirror the threat of Cole on the opposite flank every time he is selected.

As the Passing Heatmaps below also show, 40% of all Bosingwa’s passes were made in his opponent’s final third of the pitch, whereas only 32% of all Cole’s were. Given that Bosingwa made 50 passes and Cole made 38, it’s fair to say there was more of a threat coming down Chelsea’s right flank for a change.

As a result, Bosingwa made 2 Key Passes that led to Goal Attempts on Saturday, and considering that Cole has made 10 Key Passes in 9 games, it’s food for thought for Fantasy Premier League (FPL) managers, bearing in mind the right-back comes in at £5.6m compared to Cole’s £8.2m. However, for those Fantasy managers giving him the once over, a word of caution: there’s no doubt that Ancelotti will take time in easing him back into the fold, and it’s perhaps worth waiting to see how things unfold over the next couple of gameweeks before diving in. Once his fitness is full, though, it’s feasible that Bosingwa’s impact could see him become a first-team regular if Ancelotti’s comments are anything to go by.

Bosingwa also managed 3 shots at goal and was perhaps unlucky not to find the net, denied by Marcus Hahnemann on a couple of occasions. This was an amount beaten only by Didier Drogba on the day and considering Ashley Cole has had 6 shots at goal all season, it’s further indication of his attacking prowess.

Somewhat bizarrely, despite lagging behind Bosingwa in such critical areas, Cole was still awarded all 3 FPL Bonus Points but if the right-back continues to perform as he did at the weekend, there’s no reason why he won’t soon be offering the kind of returns that saw him bag 156 FPL points a couple of seasons ago.

I wouldn't touch Dunn until he's regularly playing. Have you considered Fabs & VDV?

Dunn the brum centre back....played every game hasn't he?

Have considered VDV but fixtures tough for the next few - will look to get him in 3/4 weeks

Anyone fancy Chamakh over the next two?

Bit worrying that his team can win with big numbers and he doesn’t seem to get many points.

I have Chamakh and have been worried about his place in my team for a while now...Yes his 12 points the weekend before kinda softened the blow of having him but I fear he is up for rotation now and with his scores in mind...BUT...he is currently leading the way and there is no reason to believe he won't keep his place as he has been good for them...I hope for some more scores before I move him out...so yeah...he is an option but be careful...

Manchester United have scored 20 goals this season in the premiership and for every single goal there was an assisst.

    So 20 goals 20 assists.

    That's quite amazing.

I checked the average position map for Newcastle V West Ham and they have it arseways, Simpson appears to be left back, Enrique right midfield, Joey Barton left wing and Gutierrez right wing. Do they often reverse sides/make errors like that? Useful tool nonetheless.

    Hey Guys!! Please please help!!

    Foster Robinson
    Foley A.Cole Elohamady Coleman Konchesky
    Arteta Malouda V.DerVaart Nani Ferguson
    Chamakh Caroll Drogba

    1. A.COLE -> BOSINGWA and ARTETA -> FABREGAS
    2. ARTETA -> FABREGAS and -> CHAMAKH -> ELMANDER

I like option 1, I bought Cole early so I will get 7.9 for him and how I see it, Bosingwa will raise up like crazy now anyway so I can always buy him back. And fabregas is a must have. I think Fab and Bosingwa will become vital soon.

Also, until when is bosingwa protected?

Bos is an option but one to be monitored...it was great seeing him play and really did seem like he was never injured at all...and all those rumors regarding his confidence...squashed! But, he is still on his way back and as the article highlights...he isn't sure to start just yet...But I'd go #2 if I were you...

Oh...and I have Chamakh and haven't been overjoyed with his performances..sure he nailed a 12 pointer the other day but Elmander has been consistent...Which is why that option works...also read that Chamakh's movement changes when Fab is around...which is why (perhaps) he only got 2pts...And Wenger can;t get over his boy Bendtner...Rotation risk for the future...

I think Nasri could be played against Newcastle. Remember Arsene is trophyless for 5 years and might play Nasri to be the Fabregas of the CC.

He probably thinks they can beat West Ham at the weekend without Nasri, which they could.

Personally I would play him in the PL because of his form, but just a thought.

Just saw a personal injury lawyers ad where the guy on it said he was delivering something to a customer, opened the iron gate, it swung back and "crushed him" against the gate post... So now we can sue people for there gates not staying open? Thats severely messed up.

Xbox controller is mostly better, PS3 has a better D-pad.
I don't really have a problem going from one to another.
Yes, PSN is free, XBL costs around £25 a year if you look around
XBL is better, but PSN is getting better, although they've already introduced a premium charged service which isn't worth it.

PS3 has netflix, and is 1080p if you have the TV.

But overriding ALL of this: pick the console all your friends have, or at least who you want to play against the most.

If you're not in the UK it doesn't really matter. Both are places you subscribe to and you can rent DVDs through the post, but they've both moved now to streaming content online.

              http://www.dealspwn.com/xbox-360-4gb-134-tesco-direct-xbox-360/

Are the kind of thing you want to aim for.

You don't need a HD that big, I have a 120GB and I've fot about 70gb free. You can download films, yes, but you can download additional content to make games go further, or games on XBLA etc etc.

If all you're doing is playing fifa 11, then see how far the 4gb gets you as you might only use it for saves. But I think spending over £130 on one game is a bit excessive, you might as well use it for the other stuff too.

Got mine for £50 second hand, and I've never had any problems with it.

Ps3 has free online, but is a dearer console. I've a PS3, as do most on here.

A lot of my mates' Xbox's have broken down lately (red rings or summit) and they are considering getting PS3's.

To be honest though, it depends on you, if a lot of your friends have Xbox's and you plan to play online with them, then maybe that's the better option.

infact Man Utd signed a guy Bebe for 7m, he'l no doubt be hitting hattricks every week down grade balotelli and you'l easy finish in the top 10 overall 😉

imo no no and no a billion times over. lamps is injured, balotelli is not doing anything same as with gerrard. in fact if i were you id keep fabs, malouda n arshavin n work around them. dont overload your midfield too much is my advice.

          dont like it noob

you should look at some of the teams who wildcarded on this site for pointers

like taz and atilla (just click their links)

u need to maximise value , not price

so al muhammad who plays on the wing , but is in fpl as defender is a great pick!
simpson starting at 3.9 is super value!
          nani, fabregas, malouda and drogs

if i was picking my team this week i would be taking a punt on hernandez for the next few weeks!

Am Wildcarding this week and I would like this team but am *only* 3.9 million short:

    Robinson-Foster
    Cashley-Mummy-Coleman-Bosingwa-Simpson
    Nani-Brunt-Nzogbia-Fabregas-VDV
    Carroll-Tevez-Drogba

Question is what are the best options to free up money:
    A) Cashley > Jara/Tamas
    B) Carroll > Varney, Brunt > BoaMorte (or 4.3 mid), Boswinga > Tamaz, Robinson > Gilks

    Thanks!

He's too expensive for me,I bought him cheaper than he is now but the price is still high imo. I can get two strikers if I Sell him.

    Here is my team:

    Harper Carson
    Konch Bosingwa Faye Kelly(ful) O’shea
    N’Zog Albrighton VDV Nasri Malouda
    Carroll Torres Drogba

I have 1.4 million in the bank.

Here are transfers im thinking of doing:
    1) Harper + Torres = Howard + Chemakh/Berb/Hernandez/Tevez
    2) Albrighton + Torres = Nani + Chemakh/ Hernandez
    3) Malouda + Torres = Fabregas + Tevez/Berbatov/Hernandez
    4) Albrighton + Torres = Fabregas + Dembele/ 5.6 mil forward

    Or any other options?

    Cheers

I can't afford to replace Benjani, unless is sell VDV or Tevez.Tevez is worth his price but still too expensive for my taste.
