Our weekly Watchlist refresh took place earlier today and the eagle-eyed amongst you may have spotted the latest ranking changes for our mid-term player recommendations. Those new to all this shebang can find the Watchlist rankings at the bottom of the sidebar on your frontpage.

Movement within the rankings is pretty tame in comparison to previous weeks with Chelsea’s fixtures kind enough to see their top rated players – Petr Cech, Ashley Cole and Didier Drogba hold firm in top spots. Improved runs for both United and Arsenal have seen their assets enjoy climbs however, with Cesc Fabregas coming close to toppling Nani at the top of our Midfield rankings.

In the Keepers table there are climbs for Tim Howard of Everton and Jussi Jaaskelainen of Bolton as both embark on kind opponent runs. Our earlier “Frisking of the Fixtures†revealed that both teams are set to embark on schedules that bring them four home fixtures in the next six Gameweeks.

Arsenal were also singled out in that article and subsequently we see Lucasz Fabianski holding firm in the Keeper rankings, despite the impending threat from Manuel Almunia. The Pole’s performance at Eastlands last weekend should be enough to see him maintain his start and, with a clean sheet in that game, the Gunners will go into their next three Gameweeks with renewed confidence at the back.

That’s also reflected in our Defenders rankings where Sébastien Squillaci enjoys a climb in the middle of the table. Above him we have the goal threat and improved clean sheet potential of Gary Cahill and the latest bargain acquisition in the form of Newcastle’s Danny Simpson. He returned to the starting lineup at Upton Park last time out and at 3.9 offers a superb “route to recruit†option for Fabregas hunters. Simpson’s rise has Jose Enrique dropping, despite his stronger assist potential. Newcastle’s clean sheet returns have been disappointing but three strong home fixtures in the next four certainly shows promise.

Out top five Defenders remain untouched with Chelsea’s Cole attracting Bonus Points in addition to clean sheets, the Everton pairing of Seamus Coleman and Leighton Baines offering strong attacking potential along with Sunderland’s “out of position†Egyptian Elmohamady. United’s Patrice Evra has also enjoyed a recent boost having claimed a left midfield starting role at Stoke last weekend. That could well continue to be the case against Spurs in Gameweek ten. John O’Shea enters high again as the cheaper option in a United defence which should pick up points in the next month with four Old Trafford encounters in the next six.

The top positions in the midfield area also survived. Fabregas pushed Nani for the top spot, while Rafael Van der Vaart held on to the fifth with his goal against Everton, despite facing trips to United and Bolton next. Climbs for West Brom’s Chris Brunt and Arsenal’s Samir Nasri weren’t quite enough to see them break the top five then. Below them Kevin Nolan’s goal and link-up with housemate Andy Carroll appears to bode well ahead of Newcastle’s run of home fixtures. Ashley Young also enjoys a climb as his fixtures improve slightly with four home games in six, even if the opponents include both United and Arsenal.

Injury concerns for Carlos Tevez and the new threat of rotation with Mario Balotelli has him drop from second in the Forward rankings. Below him he’s now threatened by the resurging Andy Carroll and the consistent form of Johan Elmander which, given his fixtures to come, could continue to bear fruit for those Fantasy Managers taking a punt on Bolton’s Swede. Fulham’s returning trickster Mousa Dembele is an interesting climb at the halfway point, while West Brom’s Peter Odemwingie needs to shake off his injury woes to re-establish himself in the top five. He drops today but could climb again if we can get solid news on his fitness. Finally, Mexican of the moment, Javier Hernandez has to settle for a surprisingly lowly footing. The threat of Rooney’s return in a fortnight surely dents his potential beyond Gameweek’s ten and eleven.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

    Alright boys and girlz,

Anyone have any thoughts on if Coleman is likely to keep his place in the starting 11 for much longer? I defo wanna get in an Everton Def but would rather just get in Jags if he is likely to lose his place in a few wks. I heard he didn't play great last wkend either

    Comments on my team please...

    Hart (Migolet)
    Djourou, Coleman, Mummy, (Jara, Alcaraz)
    Malouda, Nani, Fabs, VDV, Nasri
    Drogs, Elmander, (Harewood)

Thinking of outing Djourou & Alcaraz to try & get in Bosingwa/Simpson, should just be able to afford it by next week but will incur a costs hit - Is this worth it?

Already got fabs in this week so used up transfer.

Looks good. I wouldn't change a thing. Djourou has better fixtures that Boswinga, but keep an eye on the injury news of other Arsenal centre backs because he'll probably be dropped once they return from injury.

Hi lads, wondering if you could help

    Hart, Gilks

    Elmo, Alcaraz, Konchesky, Jose Enrique

Nani, Malouda, Van Der Vaart, Adam, Albrighton

    Drogba, Berbatov, Elmander

Was looking at taking Berb out for Chamakh but was wondering if i should be doing a different transfer first?

    Got 2.6m in bank

    Cheers

i personally wouldnt go for chamakh, he'll prob play saturday but with bentner coming back he'll most likely get a good few rests, esp as wenger intimated already this season he's played chamakh more often than he'd like to.

is there any way you can squeeze fabregas in? or even nasri? I think your forward line is just fine as it is!

Sorry, you are swapping 2 of the biggest bargains in the game, a central dominant playmaker and an out of position defender with good fixtures coming up and a good defence behind him, for a wolves player and a man city left back who is coming back from injury who you can't guarantee will start? Suicide.

I'm pretty sure that Boswinga will start this week he is their best right back but he could get rotated when champions league games come around. Same applies for Alex and apparently Ancelotti is not sure who to select out of him and Ivanovic to play alongside Terry, which suggests that he is fit. I think I might end up getting both.

Here's a pop quiz folks. Who's going to start up top for Arsenal this weekend... Chamakh or Bendtner??
I'm tight for cash (shifting K.Toure who might drop, and purchasing Fab who might rise), so I'm probably going to move tonight - but not sure which Arsenal forward to get!?! Any ideas folks?

The other option up top is Hernandez... hmm?

as of today yes because lampard has been ruled out already and ramires is still not back in full training. as he's only been out for a week should ramires return tommorow or friday though he'd be in with a very good shout of returning at zhirkov's expense

Have just come back to the site after doing some work (I work a lot from home) and have read through the posts since I was last on.

    FOR THE RECORD:

    I am female.
My name is Katie Elizabeth Lewis.
I was born on 10-06-84 in Brecon, S.Wales.
    I am 5'7" tall.

My gravatar is a picture of me taken by my boyfriend Mattieuh, who is French. I chose this as my gravatar because :

    1. After viewing other posters gravatars(that are faces) for such a long time, I found myself visualising them as their gravatar. I did not want that to be the case for people viewing my gravatar.
    2. Matt loves the picture and says it sums me up, a fun, not too 'girly' girl.

I like most sports but have a passion for American Football. This led me to playing fantasy NFL 3 years ago and because I enjoy it so much, I decided to give FPL a try in early Dec 2009 and here we are today, my first go at a full FPL season.

Why some posters believe/suspect I am not a girl/woman is beyond me but there you go.

    Katie.

Agreed. I just think it makes you both that much cooler imo because it's a rarity. My gf wanted to try and play this year for the first time after she saw how obsessed I was and how time consuming. She's nowhere near as addicted as I am, but understands a bit more now where I'm coming from.

Impossible to decide. Equally good in my opinion, stay with the ones you have if it involves hits.

Yes I've decided to keep Malouda. I have good money in the bank and if I want to cut an expensive players to fund a rejig of my side then Drogba will be the first one cut.

It's unbelievable how much good you can do if you sell him.

Hmmm why not sell Malouda. Given Lampard is still injured it means Drogba remains on penalties at least.

Im looking at maybe getting the likes of VDV, Arteta, Davies,

All penalty takers to fall back on. I wouldnt sell Drogba.

Because Drogba is 3m more and I've started to doubt if he's worth it. Sooner or later Lampard will be back and steal the penalties.

The extra cash gained by chopping Drogba easily fund Ashley Cole and one of Arteta/VDV.

I know this is viewed as lunacy by lots of posters but I firmly believed it is better or equally good as chopping Malouda.

Who would be your Drogba replacement.

Im considering selling Tevez if he is a doubt.

Tevez might get the chop if he's out for long but he's a long term keeper for me if it's only one game.

Not decided on Drogba replacement yet, I'm open for suggestions. Davies, Elmander, Odemwingie, Hernandez are all interesting options to weigh up.

    Katie.

    MWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!

This week I'm gonna have to give you the beat down, DESPITE having the #1 WR in the league on bye, oh and my starting QB, and peyton hillis but thats it, oh wait, and ahmad bradshaw, just 2 of the top 15 RBS in the NFL, in a 16 team league. The scheduling gods have been kind to you, it would be humiliating to lose with these circumstances. But dont despair, I will see you in the playoffs as well love.

hahaha see and yesterday someone said i knew nothing about football after i said that i wouldn't be surprised if wenger played a mixed side w/some strong starters like fabs or nasri because of the pressure on them to actually win something this yaer. i think they're really going for the league cup as it may be their only hope for silverware.
