Reports in Thursday’s press have confirmed that Carlos Tevez is out of the weekend trip to Wolves. The striker has been granted permission to return to Argentina to undergo a programme of rehabilitation ahead of the crucial derby clash with United in Gameweek 12, as fears mount concerning the injury sustained against Arsenal on Sunday.

Tevez was always a doubt for the weekend with a muscle injury sustained in the 3-0 defeat to Arsenal. It is now reported that the injury, initially thought to be a dead leg, could be a more serious setback. A report in the Daily Mail suggests that scans have revealed “severe swelling and internal bleeding around Tevez’s knee and thigh”. The report goes on to claim that the players has been told he will not be able to play for “about two weeks”. That would see Tevez miss the Gameweek 11 fixture with West Brom and remain a doubt for the United game as a result. As yet there is no confirmation of this from official City sources.

The striker’s return to Argentina comes following recent claims, including those of team-mate Roque Santa Cruz, which have stated that Tevez is homesick. It is thought that, in the light of the injury, City have taken steps to quell this issue by allowing the striker to spend time with his family whilst he manages his own return to fitness.

The news will come as a major blow to Tevez owners who have dramatically increased in numbers in recent weeks. Tevez topped the goalscoring charts going into Gameweek 9 and had seen over 200,000 new owners heading into the Arsenal fixture, having scored 5 goals in his previous 4 league starts.

His owners will now have to consider his prospects over the next two to three Gameweeks in the light of this news. Roberto Mancini will likely turn to Emmanuel Adebayor to lead the attack in the absence of his skipper, while Mario Balotelli is also an option having figured from the bench last weekend. Adebayor could now pick up some short-term Fantasy interest but it seems more likely that United’s pairing of Dimitar Berbatov and Javier Hernandez will see a greater proportion of Tevez funds come their way. Hernandez’ run in the United lineup could well come to an end with Wayne Rooney’s expected return in a fortnight, which may coincide with a return to fitness for Tevez.

The other option than Tevez owners will now be considering is a move towards a cheaper alternative up front which would free up cash to recruit Cesc Fabregas in time for Arsenal’s Emirates clash with West Ham. We can certainly expect to see some major movement in the Fantasy markets in the next 48 hours and I suspect we will see points being spent by those who have already fluttered their Fantasy Premier League wildcards.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Hernandez will be back on the bench for City game IMO. Impact sub again. Good for two games but I think most have to think a bit longer than that as Tevez is more expensive than most bought him at.

BErbatov is better for Utd and Chamakh is a better option cos he is up front by himself and Arsenal will score big I reckon.

Was just about to post this.

I've got a couple of mini-league rivals, (not really close rivals, they're miles down and getting frustrated as they normally do ok at this game), and they've made 4 and 5 transfers each for this week. Probably one of them was Tevez in! 😀

Burned again by transferring too early in the week. As of right now i have .3 left over by swapping albrighton and tevez out and getting fabs and elmander in. I am praying that is enough padding to make the switch saturday which was the plan before the latest tevez news. will have to take another hit if necessary. This blows.

So hows this lineup look now?

Robinson (I know chelsea but i still have stockdale)

    Cole, Elmo, Coleman, Dann

    Nani, Malouda, VDV, Brunt

    Drogba, Carroll

    (Albrighton, Jara, Tevez)

Yup bloody annoying that. Going for Berbatov would be incredibly boring, and I can easily see him missing out on some games when Rooney is fully fit, with Hernandez banging 'em in for fun..

Im either going straight swap with Chamakh the double up on Arsenal or swapping him with Hernandez so i can do ferguson - nasri. Just debating the extra points hits. Can see Berba scoring against tottenham aswell. Hes scored well in home games. I was all sorted this GW now its decisions decisions..

Ive taken a 4 point hit to get Cesc in earlier this week. So hernandez and nasri would make it 12!! I think it could pay off this week but is it worth risking..Chamakh would be the safer option.

just to elaborate, some guys ive come to realize defy "frisking the fixtures" as they say. 4 or 5 weeks ago i dropped elmo because everywhere i read, (yes including here) it said stay away from sunderland. terrible fixtures. well i just got elmo back and i feel like as ass for ever dropping him. i know its 2 different positions, but look at the immediate impact vdv has had on spurs. i think its wise to own one spurs player and he is the guy, meanwhile you have coleman already. so you are covered for everton defence, which has always been their strong suit, plus some attacking potential, i know last year arteta was essential, but by the end of this season, vdv will be that guy.

I'm still not sure that it can beat the all-time epic first season of prison break...

First season was amazing. The whole idea, characters, plot was top notch.

                  Very jaded there after.

I was lol when I saw they were gona break out from a second prison - the writers werernt that orginal after the strike.

I stopped watching mid-way through the second series- the first series was brilliantly filmed and was one of the most gripping TV shows EVER (I watched pretty much the whole thing in about two days...)

I've been reading and commenting (occasionally) on this site since not long after it started. It was very pleasant, convivial and polite at first. Unfortunately, some Johnny Come Lately's - RBJ in particular - have gate-crashed the occasion and lowered the tone.

The sooner we get some FISO-esque type moderation in place the better.

It's annoying that Elmo has been getting all these BP's and early season cleansheets as it's made him the highest scoring Sunderland defender, and one of the highest scoring defenders in the game so that the general public go for him because of that, and not because he's OOP. If Elmo had been getting plenty of goals and assists to highlight his attacking threat, then that's ok, because at least we'd have some serious pointage in the bag, but only one indirect assist so far means the serious people like us can't keep the OOP our dirty little secret and don't get to take advantage gradually throughout the season.

Basically, if he'd done a bit worse up to this point, he'd still be owned by 3% and be priced at 4.5M, but instead he's flying up in ownership and non-serious players are going to benefit despite the majority of them probably not realising he is playing in midfield.

Eventually Elmo will get significant attacking returns, but he'll be owned my 30% by then, and virtually all your mini-league rivals will have him, so no gain.

What's the minimum score that you should be on right now to still be doing 'ok'.

Right then, replacement for Tevez will cost me 4 points. There's quite a few options. What are your thoughts on the straight swap Tevez > Adebayor?

    Team for GW9

    Foster
    Coleman Elmohamady Konchesky
    Fabregas(C) Bale Nani Brunt
    Drogba Carroll Tevez

    Hahnemann Dann Samba Albrighton
