Reports in Thursday’s press have confirmed that Carlos Tevez is out of the weekend trip to Wolves. The striker has been granted permission to return to Argentina to undergo a programme of rehabilitation ahead of the crucial derby clash with United in Gameweek 12, as fears mount concerning the injury sustained against Arsenal on Sunday.

Tevez was always a doubt for the weekend with a muscle injury sustained in the 3-0 defeat to Arsenal. It is now reported that the injury, initially thought to be a dead leg, could be a more serious setback. A report in the Daily Mail suggests that scans have revealed “severe swelling and internal bleeding around Tevez’s knee and thigh”. The report goes on to claim that the players has been told he will not be able to play for “about two weeks”. That would see Tevez miss the Gameweek 11 fixture with West Brom and remain a doubt for the United game as a result. As yet there is no confirmation of this from official City sources.

The striker’s return to Argentina comes following recent claims, including those of team-mate Roque Santa Cruz, which have stated that Tevez is homesick. It is thought that, in the light of the injury, City have taken steps to quell this issue by allowing the striker to spend time with his family whilst he manages his own return to fitness.

The news will come as a major blow to Tevez owners who have dramatically increased in numbers in recent weeks. Tevez topped the goalscoring charts going into Gameweek 9 and had seen over 200,000 new owners heading into the Arsenal fixture, having scored 5 goals in his previous 4 league starts.

His owners will now have to consider his prospects over the next two to three Gameweeks in the light of this news. Roberto Mancini will likely turn to Emmanuel Adebayor to lead the attack in the absence of his skipper, while Mario Balotelli is also an option having figured from the bench last weekend. Adebayor could now pick up some short-term Fantasy interest but it seems more likely that United’s pairing of Dimitar Berbatov and Javier Hernandez will see a greater proportion of Tevez funds come their way. Hernandez’ run in the United lineup could well come to an end with Wayne Rooney’s expected return in a fortnight, which may coincide with a return to fitness for Tevez.

The other option than Tevez owners will now be considering is a move towards a cheaper alternative up front which would free up cash to recruit Cesc Fabregas in time for Arsenal’s Emirates clash with West Ham. We can certainly expect to see some major movement in the Fantasy markets in the next 48 hours and I suspect we will see points being spent by those who have already fluttered their Fantasy Premier League wildcards.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Ok TM thanks. On my phone, so I've made spelling mistakes.

That means Dembele. But I am concerned of Fulham goalscoring form.

                Cheers,

P.S. I probably gonna bench the new striker. Thats was I am considering Odemwingie, even he is not playing this GW. IS ti madness?

but these ideas no to throw out Nani or not to do WC... I wanted to get in Fabs somehow and I have only 1 free trade and not enough cash in the bank - then I have to do a 4point hit...

Morning. I wish all my players would stop get f*cking injured. Shows you that tearing apart your team to get players in doesnt usually pay off (spent loads of points crowbar-ing Tevez in a couple of weeks ago!). Im sure a lot of people are in the same boat but, who to replace Tevez with for a 4 point hit...
    a) Chamakh - good fixtures, seems to do well at home
    b) Berbatov - fairly steady returns
    c) Hernandez - short term option
    d) Leave Tevez on my bench and hope the rest of my squad can cope!

Balls - the Tevez news isn't good. Means another 4 point hit this week.

Gerrard > Fabs is a no-brainer but i now have the chance to get a cheaper striker so that Adam could be updated later on to the likes of Arteta, Cahill or VDV. Chamakh (not the most consistent); Berbs (just gone off the boil recently); Hernandez (in great nick but a short-term inclusion only surely); or do I go into the £5m ultra-cheap bracket with Dembele or Odemwingie??

I hate it when I have to think too much going into a gamesweek 🙂

I'm also in the market for a striker to replace Tevez. I've got around 7m, but would prefer to spend around 6m....as it leaves me with more options to upgrade the following week.

I'm thinking Elmander rather than Carroll - as I already have enrique and barton.
Odemwingie is still a slight injury doubt.
Any other options I'm not thinking of...Dembele perhaps?

      I wouldn't wildcard - drop Foster/Dann/Ferguson/Tevez and go 4-4-2.

the funny thing is my plan at the start of the season was always to wildcard after gwk9, thought i could get away with it a bit longer though!

Time to wildcard. Looking at the recent slip in the rankings, maybe a freshen up was needed and you have the perfect excuse now. You need Tevez out and you don't want to lose 12pts this week. The next wildcard will be available after xmas.

Wild Card Tosey. They won't be that much double GW's this year. The WC is made for situation like this one.

          Cheers,

Already did Bale to Nasri yesterday. With tevez news, thinking:

    Tevez to cheapie (Elmander?)
    M.Petrov to Fabs
Would be an 8 pt hit (and bench carroll as a result)

    Worth it?

Would like a punt on hernandez, but wouldn't be able to do both then.

Guys, first time i have posted my team this season so would appreciate a little assistance. I have made 2 transfers this week bringing Adam and Bosingwa in for Dempsey and Konchesky but my intention is to make a few more and use my WC...team is as follows:

    Foster Mignolet
    Bosingwa Jagielka Jones Elmo Mouyokolo
    Malouda Arteta Bale Nani Adam
    Drogba Berbatov Carroll

Who should i be looking to get rid of to fund Fabregas?

    Robinson/Foster
Coleman • Shawcross • Jose Enrique • Jones • Stam
    Adam • Malouda • Nani • Bale • Etherington
    Drogba • Carroll • Tevez

    Bale ➜ Fabs
    Tevez ➜ Chamakh (-4pts)

    Agree?

Might mean 4pts to get Tevez back, did only get him in GW9 so won't lose any money on him.

I have 2 free transfers this week and was planning to bring in Fabs but the Tevez news has thrown me a bit of a dilemna.

    MF/AT as it stands is
    Malouda/Arteta/Bale/Nasri/Scholes
    Drogba/Odemwingie/Tevez

Had been planning to drop Malouda for Fabs but am now looking at two options - quick poll please?
    A) Scholes-Fabs, Tevez-Carroll or Elmander
    B)Scholes-Nani, Tevez-Chamakh

I can't believe that selling Tevez would release so much funds for my team. It's gotten to a point that I don't know who to get with all the cash! My team is:

    Krul (Carson)
    O'Shea Coleman Bosingwa (Gohouri Murphy)
    Adam Brunt Nani Fabregras (Albrighton)
    Drogba Berba Tevez

Tevez will be thrown out next week. Does anyone have any recommendations on what to do from there? Should I get someone like Varey and upgrade perhaps Albrighton or should I get a mid range striker like Chamakh or something?

    Thanks in advance

You might as well sell Tevez this week if you're getting rid next. Take the chance with a points hit, speculate to accumulate! Chamakh could easily make the 4 points back with interest this weekend.

A - Scholes-Fabs, Tevez-Carroll; Elmander is doing really well, particularly away from home but I don't buy into the feeling that Bolton have decent fixtures coming up: LIV TOT eve wol
