Selection

Metro Tips – Gameweek Ten

Gameweek Ten rolls on with our brief heads-up to Managers in the Metro Fantasy Football game that our “Picks” for the weekend are now live.

Once more we have chosen three “Bankers”, two “Punts” and one form player who has been “Bubbling Under” and threatens a major points haul. This week’s selections can be found here, but, as usual, we’d like to take this opportunity to mention a couple of players on the periphery who may also be worthy of consideration…

Unsurprisingly, there are some obvious selections who miss out, simply because team-mates offer stronger alternatives. Samir Nasri plays second fiddle to the maestro Cesc Fabregas, but remains a very promising proposition at home to the lowly Hammers; the same can be said for Dimitar Berbatov, looking to put his old club Spurs to the sword at Old Trafford in his usual languid, shoulder shrugging way.

It’s the “Punts” that spark the gamblers chance of course and, as always, there are plenty of contenders who just missed the cut. I see Richard Dunne burying the ghost of Gameweek last and notching strong defensive returns in Sunday’s local derby, while recent Watchlist favourite, Kevin Nolan, may turn some of his promising shooting stats into points in his own derby encounter against the Black Cats. I’ve also got an unhealthy hunch about Louis Saha’s prospects – 75% fit and in line to feature at home to Stoke.

Metro Managers can of course ignore these outlandish predictions and head on over to this link to discover which six men earned this week’s nominations.

Probably Varney. Stretching to 5.1 would give you Piquonnie, 5.2 Odemwingie. Sub 5 it's pretty much Blackpool.

      Of course there's Boselli at 5m 😉

I reckon the Blackpool game will have loads of goals.

        Apart from that, looks good!

    Hi Guys

I am approximately 75pts behind in my mini leagues and in order for me not to fall further behind or even to reduce the gap I am thinking of taking an 8 pt hit to get rid of Jasskialnen, Tevez and either Malouda or Bale

Could you please tell me or you think I should get rid off out of Malouda or Bale

    Many Thanks

    Enriqué or Elmohamady???

P.S. I'm well aware that I hate these questions, but this is genuinely a tough decision. Potentially season defining.

      Elmohamady.

He's a midfielder, and the derby match will likely have lots of goals, so I wouldn't hope for a clean sheet. He's going to get a goal or assist one of these games.

Sod it, I'm going to ask the class I've been away from the computer all day so trying to catch up. The slight doubts are making it tricky (well, for me anyway, alright!)...

    i) Buy Odemwingie, start Adam. Hopefully one of those two will at least pass muster to play for come Monday evening.
ii) Buy Hernandez, be a complete and utter bandwagoneer for the next 2/3 weeks, bench Adam and "hope" he's a bit niggly or has a quiet one.

In the long run, I want Odemwingie in my team, but in the end not having him this week is only really going to hurt my pride at most? On the flip side, it necessitates another transfer required somewhere down the line, when I could get him now.

2 or maybe a "3" and get Elmander. The next 6 fixtures are good for him.

I'd play Adam, you would be gutted if he starts and hes unlikely to be on the bench

I'm going to have to get used to Adam on by bench anyway, so [if I got Hernandez] I might as well do it this week too as he's candidate number 8 most weeks in my team.

I don't particularly like having him in my team to be honest, and in the end I think I'll sell him. But for now I'm trying to convince myself he's a brilliant deputy, rather than a banked started.

Nah, not Elmander. Good buy, just don't think I'm going that route. It's one of these two, I'm pretty sure.

I'm stuck with a similar problem, because long term I quite like the idea of rotating Odem, carroll and Adam- but this week it seems tempting to get Hernandez.

Personally, if it's for no extra transfers, swallow ur pride n get Hernandez. Ul earn decent money off him at least.

What will your team look like for weeks 12 and 13? Because if you are able to bench Hernandez for those two weeks (which is what I plan to do with so many teams playing at home twice over those weeks) then I'd favour a punt on Hernandez.

I know you don't seem to care much about prices, but getting Hernandez in could make you a lot of money over the next few weeks, imagine the transfers he'll get in if he scores this weekend, with a home game with Wolves coming up next. You could undo all the Dorrans damage. 😉

So I've played and played an I have 2 options:

    A) fabs Adam and odemwinge (Odem will be sub this wk even if fit)
    B) fabs Morrison and Hernandez (Morrison sub).

I'm thinking A) cos it gives me more playable options, if I go B I'd prob never play morrisson.

i'm not sherlock holmes or a master of riddles but this seems to more than suggest no bosingwa tomorrow:

chesleatv reporter: 'with blackburn's physical direct style are you thinking about bringing alex and ivanovic into the side?'
ancelotti: 'it's possible (laughs) it would be a good solution. they play with lots of long balls, long free kicks, long throw-ins. i think this is the right solution to play this fromt he start.'

      Guardian is almost certainly wrong.

I think the team will most likely be:

      Cech

      Ivanovic, Terry, Alex, Cole

      Essien, Mikel, Zhirkov

      Anelka, Drogba, Malouda

No way that Kalou, Malouda and Anelka will all play against Rovers away from home like the Guardian suggests.

    Hi Guys

I am approximately 75pts behind in my mini leagues and in order for me not to fall further behind or even to reduce the gap I am thinking of taking an 8 pt hit to get rid of Jones, Tevez and either Malouda or Bale

Could you please tell me or you think I should get rid off out of Malouda or Bale

    Many Thanks

thing is if hes out i get fabs in for a 4 pointer and captain him. its majorly iritating this shit. I can only think moyes is holding off because he doesnt want stoke's tactical set up to be completely definite,

I think Ancelotti should play Bosingwa. Sure there's the odd threat from the height but for free kicks and corners just bring back Drogba to defend and stick Bosingwa as the front man just for the set pieces.

He might even nick a goal as well then
