The captain’s poll this week is fairly indicative of one key decision that needs making ahead of Gameweek 10, and something which we will be covering in more detail as the day rolls on. Let’s take a quick wander through how it is shaping up so far…

Cesc Fabregas
Arsenal Captain. Penalty taker (we think). Bonus Point Hogger. Nobel Prize Winner. He’s just about got it all, and he’s also got a march on all the competition at the forefront of captain’s poll this week with 59% of votes so far. All of the aforementioned, tied in with a home fixtures against West Ham (bottom of the table and having just played 120 minutes of Carling Cup action), are all simple indications as to why Cesc is ahead, and well ahead at that; he’s a fantasy thoroughbred. For the views of a select bunch of Scouts on the Spaniard, keep your eyes peeled on the site a little later today.

Samir Nasri
Arsenal midfielder. Back-up penalty taker (we think). Recent friend of the Bonus point judges. Fifth grade spelling competition winner. He’s beginning to live up to his “new Zidane” billing, and for those Fantasy Managers seemingly shy of the money, is representing the next best option in the captains trail ahead of the Gameweek. The Frenchman’s selection as “the next best option” makes it clear that Arsenal are the forefront of most people looking to captain this week with his 15% (along with Chamakh and Nasri too) meaning the team as a whole claim 77% approval.

The rest…
There’s not much meat left on the bone after the Arsenal contingent are taken out of the equation, but a handful of Fantasy Managers do seem set on looking beyond The Emirates. A paltry 7% of managers will be hoping that Didier Drogba bounces back from his irregular 2 point captain’s debacle last week; he faces Blackburn who have a tough home defence boosted by the return of Samba and Nelsen, but you can never bet against the Ivorian. Despite facing his old club, Dimitar Berbatov has only managed to sneak 1% of the vote while team-mate Nani has 2% ahead of the game versus Spurs. It’s slim pickings out there.

Which Arsenal player are you backing then? Are you one of the select few not putting your faith in The Gunners? If you’ve yet to vote head back to the frontpage and do so, whilst remembering to back here and join the impending discussion on those choices made.

1 more interview to go to hopefully find out more, but with lampard and ramires out zhirkov is almost a shoe-in. the only other alternatives are drop malouda into the central 3 and play kalou up top, or bring in mceachran. i reckon he'll stick with zhirkov there as he did v spartak moscow and wolves

    Afternoon O wise ones,

Worth taking out Tevez for a 4 point hit?

My auto subs will be Simpson, P Jones, Ferguson.

    Very poor.

Already got Berbs and Carrol as other forwards so Hernandez is a no go for me.
    Any help appreciated chaps...

Oh wait, not worth getting him in for a 4 point hit. Might be better benching him but that you could well lode 0.2m on his value as there is sure to be a mass exudus of him (not sure if exudus is the right word but feck it!)

Tevez will be back next week against West Brom to score a brace.

Mancini said he returns to training Monday and will be available next week.

Unless you bought him at 10.8M or more, I'd keeo him.

I also bought him at 10.4M.

Mancini said this today - he's the actual manager - not just a commenter speculating about the length of Tevez's (non-existent) injury. He has a knock. He's homesick. He's back next week:

"Carlos got a knock against Arsenal and this week it was impossible for him to play," he said. "Now he is in Argentina because of a family problem, but he will come back on Monday morning and he will be available to play against West Brom next weekend.

The key phrases are "COME BACK MONDAY" and "AVAILABLE" against West Brom - which is 6 days later - on November 7th.

By then he'll have had 2 weeks off, missed 2 games (Wolves and Europa League) and probably, as the Club Captain will play.

Mancini will want him in competitive action before the Manchester derby.

When Chamakh or Chicharito get 2 points this weekend and Tevez scores 8 pts vs West Brom, many fantasy managers may be disappointed...

Mancini said: "I gave Carlos permission to go home to solve a family problem because I don't think he will be fit for Poznan. But he will probably be available for the game at West Brom (on November 7)."

My gut feeling, and again, this is just my theory - is that Tevez isn't injured. He's just tired / homesick, and Mancini is playing along that he's injured so as to avoid controversy letting him leave to go home when he's fit to play...

Again - just my conspiracy theory, but if you read my link it makes sense.

Of course I'm speculating that, it's part of the fantasy game.

I'm also hoping City lose to Wolves and/or Lech Poznan in the Europa League - so there is more urgency to bring Captain Carlos back.

A - if he is fit, he will start. Mancini loves him, and he's the captain, and he'll have had 2 weeks off by then. not that crazy of a speculation

B - he's playing a team with an average defensive record, and he has scored something like 30 goals in his last 35 league games. so yeah, i'm speculating he'll score.

I think they are pretty conservative predictions. We'll see...

I know how good Tevez is but I feel now is the time to sell.

He is not just ruled out of Wolves but also Thursday despite him being brought back to train on Thursday. This I find odd.

Even if he plays I could see Chamackh outscore him in next 2.

Fair enough. I wonder if Chamakh will outscore him by more than 4 points over the next 2 though?

And what about when you want to buy Tevez back if he happens to play vs WBA or even score in the derby against his old club?

There is risk / reward in every situation but in this one I think most of his owners (Tevez owners) will want him back because they have seen over the last month how consistent he is. So they are going to spend 2 transfers (one out, one in) just to change him for 2-4 weeks. Unless Chamakh scores BIG (or Tevez replacement scores big) it is a bad move.

The move is superb, of course, if Chamakh scores 2 goals, etc.

I also got him in at 10.4
Selling him now will get me 10.7
He'll probably go down in value tonight
Can't really get him back unless he drops further down in price.

Still can't see why people are getting rid of him taking point hits too.
Surely people have players in their bench that can get a few points...

Bbc now says alex starts so ivanovic reverts to right back. Is that what carlo actually said or are they guessing?

I reckon against Blackburn they'll need someone like Ivanovic at right back...gutted as I brought Bosingwa into my team last week.

the rb hasn't been confirmed, they are just guessing, albeit logically. this quote from ancelotti suggests ivanovic rb imo:

'Tomorrow will be a good test for this reason because we have to play a physical game'

It does sound that way. It was a dumb ass transfer to bring him in with my team tbh

I would appreciate any opinions on a variety of options for bringing in Fabregas:

    A) Malouda > Fabregas (0.0m bank)
    B) Malouda & Tevez > Fabregas & Hernandez (5.6m bank)
    C) Etherington & Tevez > Fabregas & Dembele (1.3m bank)
    D) Etherington & Tevez & Faye > Fabregas & Hernandez & Simpson (0.3m bank, defender transfer funds Hernandez)

B & C require a 4 point hit, D is an 8 point hit (have never done that before!!) but leaves a stronger looking team.

    Thanks in advance.

Avoid the 8 pt hit..If I were to choose I think id go for C.. Considering something like myself this week to bring Fabs in.. Just deciding whether or not to do it

Thanks Gunner, C is my current preference with D the adventurous/brave option. I am trying to avoiding losing Malouda!

gk for the weekend= fabianski or hart?

I know fabianski could be risky as Arsenal rarely keep clean sheets but everyone in the game i'm playing has hart. Is it worth the gamble?
