Florent Malouda will sit out Chelsea’s visit to Anfield on Sunday. Carlo Ancelotti confirmed that the ankle injury that kept the French winger out of last night’s 4-1 Champions League win over Spartak, will be enough to see him sidelined for the Gameweek 11 encounter.

The Chelsea boss revealed the news in his post-match comments last night…

“Malouda has a twist on his ankle, not a big problem but he is not able to play against Liverpool, the week after yes.”

From the “week after” it’s not clear whether Ancelotti is indicating that Malouda will be fit to face Fulham at the Bridge on Wednesday 10. Right now, we have to presume that this will be the case, with a second home fixture with Sunderland to follow that game.

Not all bad news for Malouda owners perhaps, given that, realistically, he was set to miss out on one of Chelsea’s three matches over the seven day period starting from Sunday’s game at Anfield. In terms of potential returns, the trip to Liverpool looks to be the best option of the three matches; that is of course, presuming that Malouda will be fit to start against both Fulham and Sunderland.

Salomon Kalou would seem likely to benefit from Malouda’s absence and take up the role of flanking to the left of Didier Drogba on Sunday. Yuri Zhirkov is another option here – particularly if Frank Lampard returns to the midfield. Carlo Ancelotti remains hopeful that this will be the case.

Malouda is 42% owned in the Fantasy Premier League game and, with United’s Nani also set to be sidelined for the Old Trafford clash with Wolves, we now face the situation of having the top two scoring midfielders out of Gameweek 11.

Whether that will see big sales of the pair is another matter entirely. Both have enjoyed significant price rises due to some explosive Gameweek totals. Early adopters of the heavy-hitting pair would need to stomach a substantial loss of funds should they transfer out either player. Right now, with every chance of both players making returns a week from now, it seems that those with a bench strong enough to cover their loss, will sit tight and wait further news – particulary when it comes to Nani’s prognosis.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

    My team:
    Hart (Foster)
    Konchesky | O'Shea | Jones | Alcaraz | Elmo
    Malouda | Fabregas | Nani | VdV | Barton
    Drogba | Carroll | Dembele

With questionmarks over Elmo, O'Shea, Malouda, Fabregas, Nani and VdV I think its fitting to do a wee bit of transfering.

As mentioned above, should Nani be out for an extended period of time he will go, probably for Arteta or Cahill.

But should Nani just be out for one game, who is the most vital player to transfer out?

If Nani is out for 2+ games, easy swap to Arteta for me.
Fabregas should play, Elmo will hopefully play...all the others likely won't (or have already been ruled out)
Just wait for more news on injuries...Nani/VDV especially

...if Ferguson is a BP magnet in most of the Birmingham home games and Barton is someone I want to keep in my team for an extended period over the next few gameweeks...AND if you consider I have Nani and potentially Fab, VdV and Elmo out for the weekend...do I pick a strategy of getting Ferguson in for the home game against West Ham to try benefit from his potential to then sell him in the next break (or one thereafter) for Barton...or should I get Barton now knowing his next fixture is Arsenal away?

Barton is one yellow away from a suspension if you didn't know

Yeah...have heard the news on Barton's yellow...I can't help but worry that Ferguson will always just offer me 2/3 or 5/6 points...where as Barton has every chance of getting me more...well..that's one half of the argument...naturally my strategy would be always try use that player as my first sub...in which case the cheaper and less of a card/suspension threat player is probably my best option here..agree or?

Ferguson as a 1st sub is a pretty solid choice. But again, your going to have to have some mid 4's on the field, and Ferguson is a good choice. Along with Barton.

I've been considering him for this week too. I have Malouda, Etuhu and Nani all definitely out so I can't field a legal midfield at the moment.

If Malouda is out for just one game and Nani back next week too then I'm reluctant to get rid of them both.

Ferguson could come straight in for Etuhu this week. He's at home so probably nailed on for 5/6 points which really isn't bad for a cheap mid (better than what Bale gives you at the moment).

That would be my free transfer for the week so I'd have to play Elmo, Alex, Williamson and Konchesky in defence though (or Foley if I think Wolves will concede less than Newcastle).

Want to get Etherington in for GW11 though.

I've had Ferg since the start, and he's clutch for what he's worth.
Barton also takes free kicks and corners. I'm just waiting for him to have a game. That said, keep 'em both!

    Hart
    Jagielka, Elmo, A Cole, Clichy
    Adam, Nasri, Ferguson
    Tevez, Drogs, Doyle
    (Barton, Williamson, Malouda)

Save my transfer for this week? 0 in the bank.

Nothing wrong with that, reduces the chances of them both having 2 point weeks. You're going to play whoever's vs Blackpool every week, but Adam is so involved it seems if Blackpool produce a performance he'll benefit.

Not stupid if you'd play them anyway if you didn't have the other. Always the chance that they'll both score and share the BPs if it's an evenly matched game.

Put Tevez in starting 11. He might play. Not to sure bosingwa is worth the rotation risk, especially since you have Cole.

Absolutely. I'm delighted at Nani's injury. Not just because he's the cheatingest player in the league, not just because it pains me to have him in my team, but also because everyone has him so it will have a big impact.

Malouda out for NZogbia for me, there's not much better value in the game and his problems seem behind him now with the bonus points flowing again.

This will leave me enough money to double up on Chelsea defenders or bring in Lampard, Tevez or Van Persie so it seems the only move to make.

Considered Arteta but is he really doing any more the NZogbia????

Did Malouda and Bale to Fabregas and N'Zogbia last week. Let's hope he can continue to produce.

Arteta hasn't had the returns yet, but I think the stats show he is creating the possibility. I'm weighing up either him or Bale in for Nani.

Since many teams have such similar midfields and therefore the same problems with injuries, maybe FFS could create two new polls, one for "Which injured midfielder will you transfer out?" and one for "Who will you transfer in?". Could save a lot of similar posts over the next couple of days.

So the poll is useless then? Makes your point about having two more polls less worthy...

Everyone will just have to make their own mind up. people can post those 2 questions but getting a good response is the hard part.

There aren't that many questions each week regarding captaincy are there?

Anyway, I think we have established that you don't agree and it was just a suggestion. Let's move on.

There are plenty of question on who to captain every week even with a captain poll apart from last week. Not everyone has the same MF so "Which injured midfielder will you transfer out?" doesn't really make sense. Next weeks polls will be "Who should my keeper be between Foster & Krul" & who do I play between "Ferguson & Barton".

Nice idea but just make FFS a more generic teams area.

Nani 2671 NTO in 7 hours. Needs another 80000 trades out. Watch the selloff explode in the next 6 hours.

Guessing being late on the Nani bandwagon has it's advantages. Bought him at 8.6 so would get 8.7 when selling & could buy back at 8.7 after the Man City game probably.

I think he's saying it's the equivalent to 8 points because it's two transfers you couldn't use elsewhere...
On a side note, I was also bit late to get Nani, and will be dropping him for Arteta (most likely)
He'll surely be back in my team in a few GW's though

I see what you mean. No guarantees the other trades you could make instead of the Nani trade would score more points. You are correct in saying it's using up 2 trades in the next 3GWs. I have 0.1 to play with for Nani so that helps. Really depends on how well the Nani replacement does.

Personally, I think the argument for transferring in and out a season-keeper can work if you are struggling to find a captain. Doubling up on a new captain choice can potentially make it worthwhile or certainly easier to justify. Outside of that, I find it helps to consider all transfers as costing me 4 pts particularly now that they carry over gameweeks.

That said, I might be letting Nani go but think I have other areas of the team that could be improved.

If you only have 10 this week, using the free trade is a no brainer unless you have bigger plans for GW12.

          Your link isn't working!!

Still needs to be a shift in money to make sense. If both plans transfers can be made independently then the extra player in GW11 will still earn you points for that week. 2pts is better than none.

I can see a case for doubling up on Fabs & Nas. I've got Fabs + Chamakh, partly thanks to the paucity of essential strikers. I'm convinced Fabs is essential.

id rather field 10 players than take a hit, or mess up the team its taken me a while to build seeing as peeps will return from injury soon enough. Long-term this is the better plan, two transfers to sell Nani and get him back will only really work if he is out for quite a while...

Like many others I have to sell Nani to Cahill/Arteta and lose 0.3.

Is it worth doing Vaughan>Adam for a 4p hit, to avoid playing Faye?
