[sbu_large_image] The Knee Jerk

You could nearly make a half decent eleven with the players who didn’t play this Gameweek. I was tempted to sit and try and get a team together just to highlight this fact and, well, I could have done it but it got a bit contrived. (Alex Baptiste?)

Needless to say there was a number of high profile absentees which left some gaping holes in players teams and pushed peoples benches to breaking point. Of those missing Nasri, Adam and Alex were irritations but it was the absence of out of position defenders El-Mohammady and Coleman which will have got players worried.

Much is made of the out of position player and to find one is, well, it’s great. To find two therefore is, without wanting to sound lame, absolutely amazing. Many will have both these players as their respective price, attacking potential and ability to keep clean sheets will have made them obvious picks. To have them both out and to etch doubts into our collective minds about their ability to start games going forward is an unwanted distraction. Indeed many have already discussed potentially taking these players out of their teams.

One key thing to consider and remember is the fact that at this time of year, as games come thick and fast, Premier League managers do tend to rotate. This is especially true in situations where games come on Saturday, Wednesday, Saturday. It’s important to take a FFS team deep breath, step back and appreciate the fact that rotation does happen, particularly with players of lower value. This is the knee jerk and the knee jerk reaction is to remove these players. Going forward we don’t know if this is just a rest or if this is a long term issue therefore it’s worth waiting to see what will materialise. For example in Coleman’s case Fellaini’s late red card should lead to a shuffle in the Everton midfield. This could mean Heitinga being called into the centre or a re-call for Coleman.

Elsewhere it was another week of captains under performing. Before the games (and particularly during) people were talking about dropping Drogba, Fabregas and Malouda. Whilst there may be some merit in considering other options such as Torres, who appears to have found his goal scoring form, surely it is only a matter of time before these big hitters begin to find form again. As such my logic follows as above, hold tight. Knee Jerkers (the players, not the articles) tend to act quick, spend points and regret their moves a couple of weeks later. Patience is advised.

Overall though its fair to say these midweek games have been ones to forget. Thankfully we only have to wait two more days until the weekend. Expect more rotation and more headaches going forward. Stay tuned on the site and through our Twitter for updates.

Drog a let down again...really tempted to get rid of him and bring in Lamps, especially with Essien suspended this weekend. Could have both just for one gameweek, but Fab being back in the points makes that a very tough one to take.

In this incidence yes, as the red for probably for dangerous play. A straight red doesn't however automatically mean a 3 match ban as so many seem to think. Certain offences, such as denying a goal-scoring opportunity is a straight red, but only worth one match. Whereas more serious misdemeanours like violent conduct get 3.

Worried about Coleman and elmo"s starting positions .. Hopefuy with fellainis red card that will give colmans spot back

the plan was to take fab out for nzogbia so I can upgrade varney to tevez.

I think it was a clear red, 2 footed tackle, doesn't matter if he caught him or not, or if there was no intent to catch him but it was dangerous and deserved red imo.

Don't mean to gloat but I am seriously on a roll. All season I've only ever had one red arrow way back in GW 3. From that week I was 741,269th overall and 9 gameweeks later I'm currently 1,455th.

I've also checked the other team scores in the FFS Cup and I have the highest score for round 5 so I've won a free £25 bet. I hope I don't jinx myself but happy times for me.

I am new to game and I remember the advice was NOT to use WC early, only for a mess. I haven't used my WC yet. I will do that a bit different next year.

Key word is Intent. Lrt's face it, Cesc isn't that type of player and it was an accident. Too many players go in with the intent of doing damage - Eduardo and Ramsey have been on the receiving end and if Essien like challenges continue with intent more legs will get broken in comparison to the Cesc challenge.

I'm sorry, but intent has nothing to do with whether or not it was a dangerous challenge- it clearly was and the point about him being a nice guy is irrelevant- I'm sure Essien is too, but that didn't save him from a red...

No-one fancy Keiron Dyer for the next few weeks then?

Am I mental to even consider him?
Played well by all accounts today and West Ham will surley score at least a couple against Blackpool?

Fair reply Mr Wild Rover but are you really going to lose Drogba and play each week with one Chelsea player?

As things stand, Chelsea are the best team in the land and you have a wonderful asset in A Cole but will you feel comfortable with just the one Chelsea player?

Getting rid of Drog and Bale after next gw. Any Better suggestions than RVP and Nani?

Drog and Bale replies will be discounted! 🙂

Everyone wants rid of Drogba but i'm only dropping him when Lamp's comes back. Having a chelsea penalty taker, free kick taker and corner taker is great, as well as the goal threat?

not really pissed at all, id love to know, have you a camera in my bedroom? im glad i got him out, he did virtually ntohing, and i have money for other transfers. Im merely commenting that there was nothing but intent on his face for that tackle, watch the replay on footytube.

If youre looking for a row, go look for one with your boyfriend-yis can have makeup arse-banditry afterwards.
