[sbu_large_image] The Knee Jerk

You could nearly make a half decent eleven with the players who didn’t play this Gameweek. I was tempted to sit and try and get a team together just to highlight this fact and, well, I could have done it but it got a bit contrived. (Alex Baptiste?)

Needless to say there was a number of high profile absentees which left some gaping holes in players teams and pushed peoples benches to breaking point. Of those missing Nasri, Adam and Alex were irritations but it was the absence of out of position defenders El-Mohammady and Coleman which will have got players worried.

Much is made of the out of position player and to find one is, well, it’s great. To find two therefore is, without wanting to sound lame, absolutely amazing. Many will have both these players as their respective price, attacking potential and ability to keep clean sheets will have made them obvious picks. To have them both out and to etch doubts into our collective minds about their ability to start games going forward is an unwanted distraction. Indeed many have already discussed potentially taking these players out of their teams.

One key thing to consider and remember is the fact that at this time of year, as games come thick and fast, Premier League managers do tend to rotate. This is especially true in situations where games come on Saturday, Wednesday, Saturday. It’s important to take a FFS team deep breath, step back and appreciate the fact that rotation does happen, particularly with players of lower value. This is the knee jerk and the knee jerk reaction is to remove these players. Going forward we don’t know if this is just a rest or if this is a long term issue therefore it’s worth waiting to see what will materialise. For example in Coleman’s case Fellaini’s late red card should lead to a shuffle in the Everton midfield. This could mean Heitinga being called into the centre or a re-call for Coleman.

Elsewhere it was another week of captains under performing. Before the games (and particularly during) people were talking about dropping Drogba, Fabregas and Malouda. Whilst there may be some merit in considering other options such as Torres, who appears to have found his goal scoring form, surely it is only a matter of time before these big hitters begin to find form again. As such my logic follows as above, hold tight. Knee Jerkers (the players, not the articles) tend to act quick, spend points and regret their moves a couple of weeks later. Patience is advised.

Overall though its fair to say these midweek games have been ones to forget. Thankfully we only have to wait two more days until the weekend. Expect more rotation and more headaches going forward. Stay tuned on the site and through our Twitter for updates.

That's what the articles I've read have alluded to.

Maybe Carlo will let us know on Friday.

Way everyone else is playing, seems to be a case of his value to teams going up, since he's been injured!

No question, I f@cked up this gameweek but just watched Blackburn's second goal vs Newcastle and it looks like a clear assist by Robinson. Goal kick, then Roberts wins the aerial duel and then he scores. No deflection, before that so clear assist. Here is the link:

Rio and Vidic are such a stupidly good partnership. I wish we could clone them. Vidic does need someone like Rio next to him to mop up if one of his beastly challenges gets him out of position.

      1. All 4 of the Top 4 kept a clean sheet. The most popular defenders across the game are from the Top 4 - Cole, Vidic, and Terry are three of the most popular.

      2. Hart is the most popular keeper in the game - clean sheet.

      3. Van der Vaart Gerrard and Fabregas scored well and were all captain material

      4. Carroll owned by over 40% of managers and scored well too.

I don't own VDV either. He is one of my top targets.

I got rid of Chamakh this week (13 points) and captained Drogba 2 x 2 and still ended with 51, so I can't be too disappointed, though I obviously am.

Defoe will be back soon to de-rail the VDV Wagon.. Jermaine will be gobbling up all those Crouch's knock downs inside the six yard box. In fact Jermaine is one of the few players in the Premier League who is almost as greedy as VDV.

Well I sure hope so anyway...either that or I may have to buy VDV myself.

That's so funny! Wrote the same thing on my blog early this morning... Defoe will steal those tap-in goals.

By my count VDV has 3 goals from 3 yards or less - that's 15 points for good positioning!

Spurs have scored 14 goals in 12 games, no wins in their last 4 games.

No need to have a 4-4-2 when you have such talented midfielders.

            4
            Bale, Modric, VDV, Huddlestone, Lennon
            Defoe

looks great to me and Spurs will score a lot of goals like that. No need to open up with 4-4-2 unless you are two goals down.

Who wouldn't say yes to a player like him but....

Tottenham one way or another always finds the way to the net. Always seem to score at least one goal.

Main problem is the LB position (hate that Ekkoto muppet) and the CB situation when we can not keep a certain pair of CBacks week in week out due to injuries.

Also a good replacement for Lennon would be very good.

Thought this was going to be a bit of a bad GW, but jesus christ what a bad GW. 1,867,184th this week! Dreadful. I even managed to lose around 25 points on my minileague leader who's barely touched his team, and it would have been 8 points worse were it not for that late Bolton goal. Nights like these really make me question why I bother 😛

Rooney has been complete SHlT for 7 months now for club & country! But nobody knows what he'll be like when he returns?
Surely he'll start playing to his ability again! If not, I'd start worrying about him!

I may not be the best around but I would do Barton to a Bolton midfielder (maybe Lee) from Gameweek 14 onwards.

Also, as we both have Arteta, I am seriously thinking a Arteta to Cahill slight upgrade (as far as money is concerned). I am really worried with Arteta's outcome and involvment in the game the whole season. Cahill seems to be more involved these days

Bolton from Gameweek 14 to Gameweek 19 has 4 Home games against NEW, BLACKPOOL, BLACKBURN and WEST BROM. For sure they will have some serious scoring to do. I am seriously thinking of taking Bolton players in for that period. For sure it is worthy

Guy coming first in my league has taken a 4 point hit the last 2 weeks yet 4 pts hasn't come off his overall score both weeks. Am I missing something?
