Sunderland have the cheek to expose Chelsea frailties in front of the Stamford Bridge crowd, while Arsenal record a second away win in the space of four days, as Fabregas returns to the scoresheet and the Bonus Points. Here’s Sunday’s Scout Notes…

Sunderland’s outstanding Stamford Bridge victory saw them claim their third clean sheet in their last five. They have recovered from the 5-1 mauling by Newcastle with two strong defensive performances at Spurs and Chelsea. Nedum Onuoha (5.0) will earn all the attention within the back four after his stunning solo goal, but Titus Bramble at 4.7 or Phil Bardsley at 4.3, perhaps offer better value. Craig Gordon is another serious consideration in goal with his 4.5 price tag. The fixture list certainly promotes investment in the Sunderland squad. A home encounter with an Everton side struggling for goals comes next, that’s then followed by a very decent run of opponents, if you see past the trip to Old Trafford on Boxing Day (wol WHM ful BOL mun BLP BLA).

The Black Cats’ attacking assets also deserve consideration. Asamoah Gyan returned another goal – his fourth in three league outings and will deservedly attract the most interest. His priced increased to 7.2 in the FPL overnight and he will surely see a further increase in ownership as the days pass. One factoer here – we’ve yet to see how Steve Bruce incorporates the Ghanian with Darren Bent and that will be key to the potential of both players. The England striker could be back in Sunderland colours in the next couple of weeks following a hamstring injury.

Danny Welbeck scored his first league goal for Sunderland and produced a superb display which surely cements his role in Steve Bruce’s side. Ahmed Elmohamady remains out of position as a result, but unfortunately that position is now at the end of the bench. The Egyptian seems to have little chance of breaking back into the starting lineup given Welbeck’s current form. Currently priced at 5.2 in the FPL, we can expect Elmohamady’ 20% ownership to decline in the next two Gameweeks.

Florent Malouda was replaced by Carlo Ancelotti on 57 minutes, despite looking Chelsea’s most inventive player to that point. The substitution reiterates the rotation threat posed by Salomon Kalou; a factor that’s likely to remain for the rest of the season. That, and alarming form from the early season Fantasy darling, will surely cause another avalanche of FPL sales for the Chelsea man. We examined Malouda’s current form in detail in Foch’s Knee Jerk article last night.

Tim Cahill scored his sixth goal of the season on Sunday – his fourth in seven games. Cahill’s contribution has been key as David Moyes’ side continue to struggle for a cutting edge. They have scored just 6 goals in their last 5 league games with the Aussie contributing a couple in that total. With trips to Sunderland and Chelsea in the next three, Everton won’t find it easy to add to their goal tally and that could well temper any increased interest in Cahill.

Mikel Arteta was sacrificed for Yakubu on 68 minutes as David Moyes chased the game against Arsenal. A surprising move perhaps, but one that emphasises just how disappointing the Spaniard has been of late. While he continues to dictate matters, he tends to patrol deep areas in midfield and is offering little attacking threat. The Arteta vs Tim Cahill debate is a non-argument right now – Arteta’s stock is falling by week on week.

Seamus Coleman was restored to the starting lineup and completed the 90 minutes, shifting to right-back as David Moyes went gung-ho. Coleman’s lively performance which saw him look Everton’s most likely source of creativity in the first-half, should have cemented his role for the time being. That will offer reassurance for his Fantasy owners, although Everton and Coleman may struggle to find returns at Sunderland next time out.

Cesc Fabregas notched his second goal of the season at Goodison with the obligatory 3 FPL Bonus Points following on. That return will likely see further interest in the Gunners skipper with Fabregas is currently owned by just over 10% of FPL Managers. One sidenote that has to be a consideration however – Fabregas picked up his third consecutive booking on Sunday; he is now just one yellow card away from a suspension and it’s Spurs at home next.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Its difficult but don't be discouraged, i think you need to go with the form.

Disregard other pieces of info and go with the players who are scoring points now.

Seems Coleman might be better than Jags, save you so cash maybe? Malouda to VDV or even Bale if you think he might get some form.
Think about replacing your from line, there are many bargains to be had. Elmander or K Davies could pay dividends over the next few GW.

      Hope that helps.

Two words. Andy Carroll. You're in free fall since you sold him in week 8 for varney.
But youre only really plummeting seriously the last 3 weeks. Carrolls scores in that time: 8-9-5.
      Varneys: 2-0-2.
At the top end of the rankings, nearly everyone has Carroll and that'd be enough to cost you.
Add 18pts to your score and see if you'd still be top 10k

Don't mind your defence. No one is makin massive gains at the back.

I'm playing a different version of EPL Fantasy, but the scoring is pretty much the same. This is my team:

    Hart
    Clichy, Vidic, A Cole, Coleman
    Nani, VDV, Fabregas, Brunt
    Drogba, Caroll, (Taylor-Fletcher)

Any changes I should make? I'm thinking of getting rid of Taylor-Fletcher for Elmander, but this means that I need to downgrade one of my defenders. Which one should I get rid of and to whom?

For those playing the Oz Sportal game.

A weird week this week. Ended up getting more Chelsea player for great results lol. Down to 63rd overall.
Top scorers in the league were François Bozizé & Jafalad. PDM takes over top spot overall in the league in 47th overall.
Biggest weekly risers were Gyan, Onuoha & Bale. Biggest fallers were Nasri & Ivanovic.

Week was pretty bad really apart from Bale & VDV. Defenders scored crap, most teams had at least 1 CS in their team. I picked the wrong captain. VDV or Fabregas would have been nice. You went up over 300 places to 1354th overall. I captained Malouda to add insult to injury lol. Cech dropped over 1 million btw.

There are obvious players that will rise regardless of what they score next week. Bale will rise another 1.5 or so etc. Selling players that are dropping quickly then buying back when they bottom out can work but burn trades. I have nearly used half my trades. You should have 5 good mids now minimum & you just need to work around them as they are the main men in the game.

I've 29 transfers left. I started with differentials, Kolarov, Koscielny, Van Damme, Hitzlberger, Boselli, Joe Cole, Martin Petrov, Hilario (Cech was sopposed to be injured). That didn't work out well. Also Gerrard, Rooney and Valencia didn't do very well... Nowadays I check after every gw the form drop players, Evra and Dunne were bargains.

Some teams in our game are full of MU, Chelsea, Arsenal & Liverpool players. having no limits makes things easier but all eggs in 1 basket = big risk, big reward. Bale was a differential in our game so he saved me dropping heaps. I have just about given up on the overall now. You can trade at any time before lockout. Players only change prices after all the matches. Trading late is a no brainer.

Did some stats after GW7 on the amount of FFS players in the top 1000 overall.
Decided to compared those stats to the stats for GW13.

GW7 : 45 members were in the top 1000 overall

GW13 : 34 members are in the top 1000 overall (a scary stat, thought that number would increase)

Position in previous season, quite a few finished higher in other seasons also.

    Rank 09-10 - GW7 : GW13

New or 500K+ meaning probably started late or gave up - 18 : 10
    100-500K - 6 : 6
    50-100K - 2 : 7
    10-50K - 6 : 10
    5-10K - 6 : 4
    1-5K - 6 : 6
    1-1000 - 1 : 2 (The guy leading FFS finished 602nd last year & 1362nd the year before.)

Interesting fact is (New or 500K+) players went from 18 to 10. I expect this figure to get smaller as the season moves on.

Reading some posts earlier about skill, luck & timing made me have another look. The cream is starting to rise already just by looking at these stats imo.

    Malouda -> VanDeVart
    Elmohammedy -> Kolorov
    (free transferS)

and Carroll -> Elmander (if Carroll out for a while)
    too knee-jerky? anyone keeping Malouda!?

What is the general consensus on Elmo amongst the chatter today...worth holding on to or chucking? 2 games on the bench and the team really played well against us (Chelsea)...seems ominous considering they are keeping clean sheets and such...Bardsley and Onouha seem worthy replacements yes or?

Glad to get them but Nani's 1pt seemed off and despite 0-0 all bps in Newcastle game went to offensive (no not barton-not that type of offensive) players.

dont like those trades at all. for starters rooney hasnt played for ages and theres no prove he'll even start on the weekend. Bosingwa to evra, a bit sideways. Bosingwa is a great price in a usually solid defence, when terry is back the backline will be fine. mummy to bardsley is the only one that makes a bit of sense. Although i like going to vidic if you possibly can or cahill who has quality fixtures coming up.
