Fulham’s home form under Roy Hodgson was key to their success in recent seasons; 36 of their 46 points last term came at home, as well as 8 of their 12 clean sheets. Despite the change in manager over the summer, the pattern this season hasn’t changed. They have picked up a respectable 9 points in five home games so far, but are still without a win away from home.

Thankfully, Fulham have the luxury of three home games in the next four, and begin their kind run of fixtures by playing host to Man City, who despite their wealth of attacking talent have struggled to find the net recently. Another home game follows with a visit from struggling Birmingham, then Arsenal away, before another home game against Sunderland. We can probably expect at least one, maybe even two clean sheets from this run, and so the likes of Salcido, Hughes and Hangeland are now firmly on our radar.

While Aaron Hughes and Stephen Kelly offer cheaper routes into the Fulham defence, the crown jewel in the Fulham defense is surely Brede Hangeland. His aerial ability and confidence on the ball has attracted the attention of several big name clubs over the years, with good reason. It’s not just his defensive qualities that make him such an appealing Fantasy prospect though, his strength in the air means he goes up for most corners and set pieces and has bagged two goals already this season as a result.

While Hangeland may not be the most exciting of picks, he offers a level of consistency that seems so hard to come by this season. Along with Aaron Hughes, Hangeland has played every minute of every game so far, and with so many other defenders nursing injuries or at risk of rotation due to European commitments, his reliability and kind fixtures make him a very smart choice right now. While 5.6 may seem like a lot of money to spend on a Fulham defender, as with Gary Cahill at Bolton, sometimes it makes sense to pay that little bit extra for potential at both ends of the field with the potential for Bonus Points thrown in.

    Gordon, Jaaskaleinen
    Vidic, Ivanovic, Kolarov, Coleman, Foley
Fabregas, Nani, VdV, Adam, De Jong
    Gyan, Carroll, Drogba

    Or

Fabregas, Drogba, VdV, Carroll, Coleman and Nani are the players left over from my old team, often with a lot of value in them. Can't afford Nzogbia too but I'm happy with a non-playing fifth MF in the team who will play when necessary - Albrighton, Ferguson and De Jong were the options here. De JOng is the only one I can afford in Team 1

Most people are going for the Gordon/Jaas combo because it gives you 11 straight home fixtures against reasonable opposition followed by away matches at Stoke and Blackpool.

The rest looks pretty good to me even though mine only contains seven of those players.

Why get rid of Toure. He's a nailed on starter and City have good fixtures. O'Shea isn't worth getting in given the uncertainty around him playing, Adam probably worth hanging onto unless he is confirmed as out. Ilunga to Phil Jones not a bad idea but do you have enough for Samba?

If your only aim is to get a Man U defender, do 2. I would only ask whether it is more likely that Man U will keep a CS than Man C? And how about in the next few weeks? Evra offers more potential attacking points. However, the question is whether the transfer is really necessary.

superdunny i was thinking if collins is out for villa to be replaced by clark then villa will have all sorts of trouble dealing with blackburn at set-pieces. a back four with lukem young, clark and warnock in it. a tiny midfield and young and agbonlahor up front.

Weird man, i was thinking exactly the same thing earlier. I assume Dunne will mark Samba (or at least try) but after that they are really struggling.

Foley has the better cleansheet odds marginally and probably no Adam for Blackpool. Think I'll be going Foley over Simpson.

Sorry for re-post, but lost on last article.

This my first asking for advise post in ages, so advice would be much appreciated.

    Team for this week:

    Gordon
    Bosingwa, Cole, Vidic
    Adam, Fabs, Nani(c), VdV
    Drogs, Carroll, Odemwingie

    Subs: Krul, Coleman, N'Zog, Simpson

With Adam a major doubt and Nani a small doubt, do you think I have my sub order correct? And captain for that matter - considering Fabs.

My rule is to always go for the home player normally, and Villa struggle away.

No chance. Cesc and Nani are both great choices for this week, the tough part is picking one of them!
