Fulham’s home form under Roy Hodgson was key to their success in recent seasons; 36 of their 46 points last term came at home, as well as 8 of their 12 clean sheets. Despite the change in manager over the summer, the pattern this season hasn’t changed. They have picked up a respectable 9 points in five home games so far, but are still without a win away from home.

Thankfully, Fulham have the luxury of three home games in the next four, and begin their kind run of fixtures by playing host to Man City, who despite their wealth of attacking talent have struggled to find the net recently. Another home game follows with a visit from struggling Birmingham, then Arsenal away, before another home game against Sunderland. We can probably expect at least one, maybe even two clean sheets from this run, and so the likes of Salcido, Hughes and Hangeland are now firmly on our radar.

While Aaron Hughes and Stephen Kelly offer cheaper routes into the Fulham defence, the crown jewel in the Fulham defense is surely Brede Hangeland. His aerial ability and confidence on the ball has attracted the attention of several big name clubs over the years, with good reason. It’s not just his defensive qualities that make him such an appealing Fantasy prospect though, his strength in the air means he goes up for most corners and set pieces and has bagged two goals already this season as a result.

While Hangeland may not be the most exciting of picks, he offers a level of consistency that seems so hard to come by this season. Along with Aaron Hughes, Hangeland has played every minute of every game so far, and with so many other defenders nursing injuries or at risk of rotation due to European commitments, his reliability and kind fixtures make him a very smart choice right now. While 5.6 may seem like a lot of money to spend on a Fulham defender, as with Gary Cahill at Bolton, sometimes it makes sense to pay that little bit extra for potential at both ends of the field with the potential for Bonus Points thrown in.

My current defence is three from the following (selling price)

    Stam (4.2) Williamson (4.2) Foley (3.9) Elmo (4.9) Hutton (4.8)

I have nothing in the bank.

    It's either
    a) Stick, have double transfer next week to fix
    b) Elmo>Coleman
    c) Hutton>Steinsson
    d) You decide!!

Option 1): Immediate Action to strengthen that defence.
      Elmo for P.Jones/Shawcross/Tamas/Alcaraz
      Option 2)
Save a transfer then next week then strengthen that defence.
      Malouda out for Brunt/Etherington/Bale/Vdv +
Upgrade any of yr defenders up to the likes of Squillaci/Clichy/Samba/Jagielka/Krygiakos/Carragher

Why does no one seem to think Torres is a good shout for the armband? At home to west ham and he'll be on pens and more likely to get the bonus with no gerrard!

I am playing him as a differential. A lot more managers have nani than fabs (by a huge percentage). I think fabs has something to prove, has been gaining momentum over the last few games, has been making masses of passes and even some of the numpties he makes the passes to now seem to be converting them .. I see him as solid with a chance of greatness.

Evening all. My team at the mo is as follows:

    Foster (Krul)
    Elmo, Jagielka, Konchesky (Dann, Crainey)
    Fabregas, VDV, Cahill, Malouda (Adam)
    Carroll, Drogba, Hernandez

    I'm thinking of doing

    Hernandez --> Odemwingie
    Elmo --> Kolarov

Should I take a risk this week?

    Captain choices:

Nani - Obvious choice, plum home fixture, ManUtd creative force, a slight rotation risk? Decent returns guaranteed. I'd say something like 6-10 points.

Fabregas - Real alternative. At home in a derby, Arsenal's best player, penalties, red card risk? For me, he could either get 10+ points or 1 point.

Drogba - Dark horse. Away at Brum, he's Chelsea's main man, been training well/has had a lot of rest, not many people are going to captain him? Potential for points 2-13.

    So who to go for?

Camzy, this has been the biggest question all night. I think Nani purely based on the opposition. Not a rotation risk, but slight risk may be rested due to fatigue from weeks events, so auto-sub would kick in.

I see the Arsenal Spurs game as a tough one, and Fabs not necessarily gonna get the 3BPs. Nani will almost definitely be involved an any Man U goals, and there may be a few.

Drogs ia a dark horse full stop, but Brum have such a good record at home it will be tough.

        You make good points.

I'm currently on Nani, and the more I look at the stats, the more convinced I am that he's the right choice.

What I'm most worried about though is SAF benching him and only using him in the second half if they need to chase the game.

Fabs will defo get 90 mins. Nani could still score well as a sub. The news from Man U site today got me thinking as Nani hhas been my captain choice all week. And my mini-league rival has not even got him, so would be a great way to catch him up. Tough one!

Having the same problem. Nani is the safe choice, Fabs is bolder and I agree could pay off big or give you nothing.

By the way I was looking for you earlier as I had decided to bring Ivanovic in instead of Konchesky. I've got over that one having seen Chelsea's fixtures. Final decisions are Adam or Nzog, Ferguson or Albrighton.

Albrighton's a good choice, but he'll give you a dilemma some weeks, and I hear he's an injury doubt too. I think I'd rather save the 0.3.

Adam or N'Zog is a toughie. I'd probably keep Adam for this week actually (you haven't got him out yet, so your earned value is still there right?) then decide next week. You might even decide to make a move for Jarvis or Lee.

For me N'Zog is a season keeper, and an absolute steal at 5.5m, just not a good choice for this week.

          Depends on his fitness really.

I would rather play Adam if he is fit though. Blackpool have scored in every home game this season.

Ah, Camzy. I will reply to you post in a mo, but while you are hear, would apprciate your thoughts.

    Team for this week:

    Gordon
    Bosingwa, Cole, Vidic
    Adam, Fabs, Nani(c), VdV
    Drogs, Carroll, Odemwingie

    Subs: Krul, Coleman, N'Zog, Simpson

With Adam a major doubt and Nani a small doubt, do you think I have my sub order correct? And captain for that matter - considering Fabs.

N'Zog before Coleman in sub order imo.

      Other than that, looks fine.

Thanks. I can just see N'Zog getting 2 points at Man U, and Sunderland 0-0 Everton. However, I guess you are thinking if Wigan get anything, it will be through N'Zog?

          Yeah that's the thought.

ManUtd haven't been all that tight defensively, so it's quite possible N'Zog could get something either an assist from a corner or a goal from a direct freekick.

How many games do we think Alex has in the Chelsea first time before he goes off for surgery?

Right gents. One final question before I hit the sack. I was planning to keep Adam in my WC team and then bring in N'Zogbia in a couple of weeks. Given the doubt around Adam's fitness, is it better to get NZog now before his probable price rise tonight. Had Adam since the beginning.

There's a guy I know (lets call him Johnny). Funnily enough, he has the same exact team as me! But he is thinking of taking a 12 point hit!!!?!1! He just told me he was thinking of doing

    Mummy > Kolarov
    Malouda > Cahill
    Piquionne > Davies
    Drogba > Torres

My fellow players, please let him know he is making a giant error of judgement! Surely he cannot get back that 12 point hit with those 4 players???
