Fulham’s home form under Roy Hodgson was key to their success in recent seasons; 36 of their 46 points last term came at home, as well as 8 of their 12 clean sheets. Despite the change in manager over the summer, the pattern this season hasn’t changed. They have picked up a respectable 9 points in five home games so far, but are still without a win away from home.

Thankfully, Fulham have the luxury of three home games in the next four, and begin their kind run of fixtures by playing host to Man City, who despite their wealth of attacking talent have struggled to find the net recently. Another home game follows with a visit from struggling Birmingham, then Arsenal away, before another home game against Sunderland. We can probably expect at least one, maybe even two clean sheets from this run, and so the likes of Salcido, Hughes and Hangeland are now firmly on our radar.

While Aaron Hughes and Stephen Kelly offer cheaper routes into the Fulham defence, the crown jewel in the Fulham defense is surely Brede Hangeland. His aerial ability and confidence on the ball has attracted the attention of several big name clubs over the years, with good reason. It’s not just his defensive qualities that make him such an appealing Fantasy prospect though, his strength in the air means he goes up for most corners and set pieces and has bagged two goals already this season as a result.

While Hangeland may not be the most exciting of picks, he offers a level of consistency that seems so hard to come by this season. Along with Aaron Hughes, Hangeland has played every minute of every game so far, and with so many other defenders nursing injuries or at risk of rotation due to European commitments, his reliability and kind fixtures make him a very smart choice right now. While 5.6 may seem like a lot of money to spend on a Fulham defender, as with Gary Cahill at Bolton, sometimes it makes sense to pay that little bit extra for potential at both ends of the field with the potential for Bonus Points thrown in.

    Need some help here.

    Team is:
    Cech-Gilks
    Coleman-Jara-Crainey-Simpson-R Johnson
    Nani-Bale-Fabs-Nolan-T Cahill
    Drogba-ELmander-Carroll

    2 questoins:

1- Who to drop to the bench from my front 8? Leaning towards Nolan.

2- 3,3 in the bank and 1 free to use, thinking on upgrading defense: who to drop? Crainey or Jara (leaning towards Crainey); Who to bring under 7,3? 3 names i came up: Evra; K Toure or Sagna.

    Help appreciated

    Cheers.

Just done one change, Elmo out and Hangeland in.

Like Hangeland's next 6 games. Leaves me with thid team this week:

    Hart
    Hangeland, Konchesky, Cole
Arteta, Bale, N'Zogbia, Nani (c), Fabregas
    Tevez, Carroll

    Carson, Piquionne, Williamson, Foley

Wondering if I should drop Piq and bring Kevin Davies in (bench Charlie or Arteta) or leave as is and do the Davies move next week?

        It'd be a 4 point hit.

Arteta at least has penalty duty and gives me some Monday night action now that Elmo has gone. He will go, but the 2 guys I would have swapped him for, Jarvis or Adam, are both questionable for this GW.

Couldn't bring myself to get Vidic in. Just couldn't justify £7.6m on a Utd defender. I just think that if he doesn't score he gets 1 or 2 pts max and that's a lot of money for those kind of scores. And I fancy N'Zog to get something out of the game tomorrow.

        May captain Fabs instead too.

I have a selection problem that maybe you could help with?

            Tough one that.

Play Jarvis but have Cahill as your first sub.

Don't drop Carroll as Bolton are likely to concede and, if they do, Carroll will most likely be involved in it.

Utd have 3 nice games (can see Blackpool scoring though) but then 3 really tough ones.

Fulham's next 6 are nice. If I could've done Vidic in 1 move I'd have done it. But it needed 2 and once I saw Jarvis and Adam with yellows then that 4pt hit lost its appeal somewhat.

I’ve made some minor adjustments to my wild card team. What do yous reckon?

    Gordon/ Jaask
    Vidic/ Kolarov/ Samba
    Fab/ VDV/ Nani/ Jarvis
    Torres/ Carrol/ Gyan

    Konchesky/Albrighton/Simpson

    1) I have enough in the bank to do Gyan > RVP in a couple of weeks.
    2) Rotate 2 from Samba, Konchesky, Jarvis, Albrighton
    3) I saw Jarvis has been yellow flagged, but haven’t seen any news on that. Is he likely to be out for today? If so, Lee?

    Cheers in advance

      Very nice.

I like that team a lot.

      Nice balance.

No real suggestions either. You have an idea for rotation that looks good, but be prepared to be frustrated a few weeks when you choose the wrong 2, and it will happen.

For sure. Definitely starting konchesky. I will rotate the 4 that I mentioned, and on even fixtures I would go with Samba. But for today, definitely konchesky. Thanks for the vote of confidence. I got a load of negative comments for my last effort.

I was thinking of getting Coleman in over Konchesky though. Thoughts?

      Thinking about it.

Don't usually like captaining the player in the early Saturday game in case he bombs and you have the rest of the weekend to mope about it. But Fabs could get a decent score against a relatively average Spurs defence.

If Bolton could put 3 past them at the Reebok then a rested Fabs can certainly do some damage there.

For me, Fabs is too big a risk. It's a derby, and you never know what's going to happen. It could play out like the Manchester derby 10 days ago or the 4-3 thriller last season.

I could see Fabregas getting sent off just as much as him getting a brace.

I would only really (c) Fabs if I really needed to chase someone/win a cup match/feeling risky.

And I don't need to. I have a high ranking and a high team value, so I can rely on my other 10 players to carry me through and play a safe captain.

            Nah.

I took one last week with Tevez and it didn't pay off.

A steady points gain will do just fine, and I don't have a particularly good feeling about Fabregas.

Mind you, last time I had a good feeling about someone, he did brilliantly the game after the one I recommended...

I said to (c) Bale VS Sunderland...

Hi guys, looking for some advice...

Need to pick 3 out of these five defenders to play:

    P. Jones, Kolarov, Konchesky, Jara, Jagielka.

Also would you put Carroll or Z'zogbia inot the starting 11?

Right, I'm just sorting my team out. Not made any transfers yet, are there any you guys think I should be looking at? I was thinking about maybe downgrading one of my forwards to Elmander and brining Vidic in? Any suggestions are welcome!

    My team is:

    Foster, Krul
    Konchesky, Bosingwa, Coleman, Elmohamady, Dann
Adam, Nani, Van Der Vaart, Cahill, Nasri
    Drogba, Tevez, Carroll

Malouda out for sure, took him out weeks ago and laughing at all the money freed up and points raked in thereof. Could be though now that everyone has let him go he'll get hat trick plus assists... up to you, you have enough Chelsea coverage given their poor returns point-wise recently... perhaps go for a differential in midfield, been seeing a lot of talk about Jarvis and Lee of late, don't kick yourself like I will when I miss the boat on that one, I'll stick with Elmander for Bolton coverage and see where that gets me... you can save a transfer to have two next week after after seeing this weeks results? I say use 'em both though!
