“The times they are a-changin’.”

Bob Dylan, October 1963

This song was written almost half a century ago but Dylan clearly had what’s to come right on the precipice of his mind. That’s right, Johan Elmander is leading the captain’s poll. If ever there was a sign that times were and are changing in this Fantasy season, this would certainly be it. We’re not in Kansas anymore…

“Come writers and critics who prophesize with your pen, and keep your eyes wide the chance won’t come again.”

It’s taken him a fair bit longer than expected to settle into life in the Premier league, but alongside Chung-Yong Lee, Elmander is somewhat perversely proving Gary Megson makes a great scout if an ill-bodied manager. This season, under the stewardship of Owen Coyle, he has begun to flourish, much to the surprise of the many who had previously written the Swede off as a Premier League flop. With 8 goals, 5 assists and 13 Fantasy Premier League (FPL) Bonus Points Elmander is the current value pick for the season and your lead candidate for the armband.

Evidently, following the lack of assurances the “obvious” picks have been able to provide in recent weeks – the next step in line is to play a bit more fast and loose and bank on a form player against a defence which is known for conceding the odd goal or two.

“The line it is drawn, the curse it is cast, the slow one now, will later be fast”

It’s not like this is some kind of runaway victory for Elmander though, evidence so far points to an incredibly close race with Nani a mere handful of votes in the wake of the Bolton striker, and with good cause considering his home form and the visit of Blackburn for him and his United cohorts this week. The news of Newcastle’s second string centre-back pairing sees Didier Drogba well in the reckoning for another crack at the whip as well.

Rafael Van Der Vaart, Carlos Tevez and even Wayne Rooney following his penalty at Rangers, are also well and truly in the reckoning.

If you’ve not let us know of your decision, or you’ve not yet made one, why not stew on it briefly and then head back to the frontpage and rock the vote. Make sure it counts.

“And the first one now will later be last, for the times they are a-changin’.”

Yeah can afford Hangeland. Would be for a 4 point hit but my team is in a bit of a state so it's needed.

Considering an 8 pointer to replace Caroll as well but that seems a bit silly. But I want a front 3 of ROoney/Tevez/Drogba 🙂

I'm fed up of my team revolving around getting Fabregas in so I'm going to get shut again and try to resist his ample charms. My current thinking is downgrade to Lee as the obvious choices are VDV (but I have Bale), Cahill (but I have Arteta) and Malouda but I only shipped him out last week. If I get Lee I'll have 7.5m in the bank and would plan on Odemwingie to Tevez next week unless Drogba does poop again then it may be Drogba to Tevez.

    Seem reasonable?

I swapped Cesc to Lee yesterday. Need another transfer which will either be Nasri or N'zogbia for Albrighton. Nice to have the luxury of money being no object but there aren't that many great options.

Remember that week about two games went ahead? I thought West Ham game would happen so here's me taking a 4 pointer to get someone in, only for it to be called off.

Same happened me with Tevez. Around this time last year he went goal crazy.

I remember being stung that week. I think Tevez single-handedly got as many points as most people's entire teams, many didn't have him but some had him as captain.

How much of a risk would you say Rafeal is? Hes played well, but doesn't seem to play 2 games in a row?

      quite a big risk

best option if u wana cut price united defender (if u can call 6.5 odd that ) is ferdinand

tis who im goin with atm

        I was thinking:
        Cesc - Nasri
        Jara - Rafeal
        Adam - VDV

or i could just do, Cesc - nasri & Jara - Vidic.

VDV = far more important then nasri will ever be and fixture proof

id do cesc > VDV ...jara > ferdinand/vidic

I've already got Bale so VDV isn't a must for me at the moment.

Fair point, and with Blackburn's aerial bombardment, O'Shea might play.

Scholes has never asked for a pay rise in his entire career and doesn't have an agent. Man's a legend in every sense of the word. On that note: Total football

      Nonsense AP.

Even Real & Barcelona both agreed he was in advanced talks with City and they couldnt get him if they tried. Ballegue even announced it on tv and both clubs didnt have a problem with him revealing it.

He is just saving face. He was on his bike to City.

Nope, bought him and stuck him on the bench. MGP is all about the 5 fixtures after OT.

Hi Guys! I have Nolan & Albrighton, my question is
1)do I just play Nolan? or
2)transfer Albrighton for Nzog -4 & (play Nzog bench Nolan)?

    Thanks for inputs.

Play Nolan but not alot in it. Weather in Newcastle may sway your decision!
