Blackpool are reporting that the clash with Manchester United on Saturday is under increased threat of postponement as temperatures fell to minus eight last night. During the cold snap, large patches of the playing surface at Bloomfield Road have become frozen and last night’s spell meant that the problem has worsened.

Although the ground staff have been working throughout the night, with large hot air blowers and covering over the ground, the situation is certainly one that is causing concern. The club are keeping in regular contact with the Premier League and are going to make another official update to supporters via their website later today.

The news will come as a massive blow to Manager Ian Holloway who has been in a determined mood this week, in preparation for the Manchester United’s first visit to Bloomfield Road since 1974.

Blackpool’s reportedly frozen training facilities were certainly not enough to trouble the single-minded gaffer…

“We will be on the training ground tomorrow whatever the weather, but if it’s too bad and still frozen, then we will train on the beach if the tide is out. It is a luxury that we have in Blackpool. It’s flat and you can train on it. We tried to train down there last year during the bad weather, but it was frozen. Stanley Matthews was down there every morning when he played for the club and it didn’t do him any harm, did it? If the beach was good enough for that calibre of player, then it’s certainly all right for my lot.”

This potential of a postponement creates a massive dilemma for Fantasy Managers who have invested heavily in Manchester United players. Dimitar Berbatov has expectedly been transferred in by over 83,000 Managers in the Fantasy Premier League (FPL) game this week after his stunning five goal haul against Blackburn Rovers, and owners of the Bulgarian could be particularly frustrated. Nani has an ownership of 40.1% in the FPL and has been the top scoring midfielder this season. With Wayne Rooney back in bloom, over 31,000 Fantasy Managers have also opted to bring him into their teams this week.

It’s not just Manchester United’s stars that there will be concern over, Blackpool have been performing above expectation this season and many have opted for some of their cut-price players. Tangerines’ captain Charlie Adam has been in great form since their promotion to the Premier League notching up 69 points and is unsurprisingly owned by 17.4% of FPL Managers.

We can only wait on further news from Blackpool and hope that a decision arrives well before tomorrow’s Fantasy deadlines.

johnfinlay John swears he'll deliver unbiased Fantasy Premier League tips and news...until Leeds get promoted.

Normally agree, but the guy I'm playing against also had VDV and we both agreed to take a 4 point hit to transfer him out. Also, I had to consider that Nani might not play and I wanted to make sure I had enough to fill the lineup.

Elmander's one of the most in-form stikers in the league, more than capable of scoring away from home... much like Carroll he seems undroppbale at the moment.

What's your front-line look like currently - I'll guess... Drogba, Elmander & Carroll?

    Good afternoon all.
My main priority this week is Arteta OUT (prob bringin Dunn IN)

That will leave me enough cash to do Piquionne OUT Tevez IN.

My main work rival has Tevez and this worries me with upcoming fixtures.
Piquionne has been a great little signing and think he may do something against 2nd choice Sunderland defence.

So, my question is; Do you think Tevez will outscore Piquionne by 4+ points? Thanks all.

Will Piquionnne play. We beat Man U 4-0 without him, so surely Grant will be looking to keep things the same(ish)? He won't drop Obinna or C.Cole after there performances, so Barrera may be dropped. But then again, he may not. Just food for thought.

To be fair though - Bolton have had a pretty simple first few months regarding their away fixtures. Only Arsenal from the top half, and Arsenal at home don't care too much about defending. The Man City defence will be their toughest proposition yet.

even with the doubt he wont start, and given the tough fixture (away to Chelsea), would you lads start coleman over simpson? Seems worth the risk when at worst coleman is subbed on for 1 point and it seems simpsons got virtually no chance of getting more than 2. Have to arrange my 4th defender in my subs for the chance nani isnt playing.

newcastle arent exactly known for clean sheets are they, and their 1st team defence is not intact, no williamson, no coloccini. and simpson isnt exactly an attacking threat. Other than that, i guess i have no reason to think such an absurd thought.

Hmmmm. I have issues in defence this week. A.Cole Kolarov and One of Jara Hutton or Coleman to play this week. But also in midfield. Arteta/VDV. Arteta -> Dunn. That will be done. But as I said I need to play Coleman Jara or Hutton. All of whon are pretty crap options... However I want to get Tevez in but then I am not sure who I should get rid of (Elmander Carroll Or Drogba). But I suppose getting in Tevez is a luxury for me. So basically, should I take a 4 point hit and get Samba in for Hutton or Coleman ? Or take a 4 point hit and get Tevez in for Elmander/Carroll/Drogba Or Take an 8 point hit and do both?

I have much of the same issues. I have Coleman, Van der Vaart and a forward triple of Elmander, Carroll, Drogba.

Konchesky, Kolarov, Vidic*/Enrique will be my defense this week.

*Depending on whether or not their game is off.

I am thinking Coleman + one of Elmander, Carroll and Drogba out for Tevez. How about a 4 pt hit for: Coleman and Elmander OUT, Samba and Tevez IN? Or is that a luxury? Maybe get VdV out first? Or just Coleman?

Certainly there are many questions. But if I were you Greg, I would probably do Arteta and Coleman OUT, Dunn and Samba IN.

Sorry if this is from the school of the bleeding obvious.....

If the man utd game is off what happens to the players I have in my team, will they get auto subbed and recieve 0 points as if they didn't play or do I need to put them on the subs bench?

As you said, Auto subbed as if they didn't play (Because they didn't), and then we get Double Gameweeks later down the line (But don't worry about that for now, we'll explain nearer the time.)

Man City Next 5 - BOL, whm, EVE, new, AVL (not bad)

Any merit in a VDV replacement from their Mid-"failed"??

David Silva has been there in the back of my mind all week but I just can't justify it (season high of 8pts and his last few games 3,2,2).

Is there any logic in a city player outside of Tevez, Hart and perhaps Kolarov?

Not really. I thought about Silva, but the fact that he got nothing in the 4-1 thrashing at Fulham put me off.

Don't think so - he was coming back from injury last week so was on the bench. He did play on Wednesday though, so Richards may get another shot this weekend (although Richards had a run out as sub on Wednesday too). Most City fans see the first choice defence as Boateng-Toure-Kompany-Kolarov.

he's probably fine (as are the Toure boys)

the only reason I added Kolarov (to the obvious Tev, Hart) is because he's a bargin and "a bandwagon waiting to happen".

    All,

    I currently have:

    Foster, Gilks
    ACole, Rio, Konchesky, Jara, Alcaraz
    Nani, VDV, Jarvis, Barton, Cahill
    Elmander, Carroll, Drogba

No transfers made and not sure whether to not make any and play Alacraz or do VDV-> Narsi and bench Barton, Jara and Alcaraz.

Alcaraz -> Kolorov needs to happen at some stage also.

Obviously don't know what u will lose (£££) selling VDV but Nasri is going to pick up a sh1t load of transfers off the back of VDV and Fabregas injuries (so it's a sound transfer IMO).

Personally I went with Nasri during the first Fabs injury and it paid off well (£££ and points)

This time ive gone with Wilshere (just gut instinct but he's peanuts and he opened up with a 9 for me last week).

Former West Ham players still playing today:
    David James
Glen Johnson, John Terry, Rio Ferdinand, Paul Konchesky
Joe Cole, Frank Lampard, Javier Mascherano, Craig Bellamy
    Jermain Defoe, Carlos Tevez

Subs: Roy Carroll, Anton Ferdinand, Lucas Neill, James Collins, Mathew Etherington, Micheal Carrick, Yossi Benayoun, Bobby Zamora

That aint half bad, incredible the amount of players West Ham have brought through, and most are English, England need more teams like this to have a better International team.

Captain's poll massively favours Nasri over Bale, scout picks tonight will also include Nasri. But over the next 5 Bale looks better to me - I can see him picking up points against everyone whereas I can imagine Nasri getting a couple of blanks. Haven't seen many fancying Bale over Nasri as VdV replacement though so wondering what I'm missing?

Sorry new players in caps, transferring out Elmo, Jagielka, Arteta.
Major concern being potential for matches to be called off making an eight point hit a real liability

I see, I think the transfers themselces are good. I think the Liverpool game will be more than fine as it is an evening one. In fact, so is the Man U game, I think that one will be alright too. You have no Sunderland players so no worries there. But I think most people will be in the same boat if it is called off. You should just want the Man City game to be on. 4 players in it.

u need a samba clean sheet to break even, i was going to bring in both but then thought unless samba gets a cleanie and scores which is very unlikely im best off waiting
