It’s official – Blackpool have postponed Saturday’s clash with Manchester United due to a frozen pitch.

There were discussions between Blackpool, Manchester United, the Premier League and Match Officials today and it was decided that referee Peter Walton would inspect the pitch. The official was reportedly concerned that certain areas of the surface would not thaw out in time for the planned kick off tomorrow.

Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand broke the news and vented his disappointment via his Twitter page

Blackpool game tomorrow called off due to the frozen pitch, so gutted tweeps. Hope anyone who booked accommodation+hire cars gets their money back.

Earlier we reported how this would affect Fantasy Managers far and wide. A rush of team shuffling and transfers will now be expected prior to tomorrow’s Fantasy deadline.

We await a re-scheduled date for the game which will then give us the first double Gameweek of the season.

johnfinlay John swears he'll deliver unbiased Fantasy Premier League tips and news...until Leeds get promoted.

Keep in mind there will be a large number of managers that will panic. Just the one game postponed at the moment.

That & VDV being injured. May be one of those weeks where taking points hits would be very inadvisable, if you're able to field 11.

With this news I need to get rid of Arteta now instead of next gameweek and take another 4 point hit - the options to replace him are either KALOU or NASRI - I see kalou having more point scoring potential but nasri being the safer and less rotated option. Opinions? Thanks

He's scored 6 goals in little over 500 minutes of pitch time, he's explosive. The only problem is the rotation

That really isn't the only problem with Kalou.... His general retardness is the biggest issue.

Seriously though, the moment Lampard is back Kalou is out of the side.

If it was just a short term transfer then i'd go for it but i'm with you on the lampard part so nasri it is, at least then i can keep him longer than a gameweek or 2.

Am I correctly assuming that any other Saturday game cancellations will be announced before the transfer deadline tomorrow?

Annoyingly the game most likely to also be cancelled is the Sunderland v West Ham game which is Sunday so may not know in time.

Ahhh so the naysayers were correct and the game is off. Seems really strange to have a healthy Nani and Vidic on my bench, sad times.

The fact that Blackpool can't play this weekend because of a frozen pitch means that they could, weather remain consistent, not really play many games over the winter period. Does anyone know if they would be forced to play at a different ground if for 4+ weeks they were forced to postpone the match?
