The Carlos Tevez saga took a new twist this evening with City boss Roberto Mancini uttering his first words on the matter since the situation developed on Sunday.

In a very positive statement, Mancini seems convinced that there is still hope of Tevez remaining at the club…

“If Carlos is unhappy, and he’s scored ten goals and played very well, then I hope that he’s unhappy like that all season! But I don’t think he is really unhappy. He can change his mind.”

Mancini goes on to express his desire to keep the striker at Eastlands – again with plenty of positivity…

“Do I want him to stay? Absolutely. He has a contract, and he is our player. It’s my belief that Carlos will stay with us, I think that he will continue to play for us.”

Mancini confirms that he will meet with Tevez on Friday and it appears that the Everton clash on Monday is very much on the agenda…

“I will see him Friday morning. I will say ‘good morning’, and then we will talk. It’s important that we speak, because we have a game with Everton on Monday and other very important games this month.”

There’s no doubt that this latest development comes as a huge positive for Fantasy Managers. Clearly Mancini is set to go all out to persuade Tevez to stay and, from this statement, it seems highly likely that Mancini will look to select the striker against Everton on Monday.

It will be interesting to see how Mancini approaches the issue of the club captaincy but again, tonight’s statement offers such a positive front, it seems possible that Tevez could even keep the City armband.
We can only await further developments; there’s likely to be plenty more to come.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Anyway, on a slightly lighter note, got my first laptop today, fed up with either being in bedroom on net or livingroom on tv.
    HATE IT!
Well actually I like being able to be online and watch tv at the same time, but keep selecting things just by touching the 'touchpad' when just trying to move the cursor!
Never know when to use the 'touchpad' or press enter, can't copy and paste, (yet) and keep pressing wrong buttons as they are too small and in the wrong place!!
Tell me it's worth the effort!
    Oh, and C'MON ENGLAND!!! 🙂

Why not just buy a large TV for your bedroom. You could have also linked that up to the PC to stream the football onto it as well as movies. Also handy for the ps3/xbox.

I say Elmander should not be on the bench. Likely to be a game with goals , sunderland missing their centrebacks , the replacements are not good in the air so Davies will be knocking balls down to Elmander who has scored nearly all his goals away from home

I wouldn't have gotten many more points if I had shipped him.

He's staying now anyway. He hasn't dropped that much, and he's fantasy gold.

Personally I wouldn't do it. Is Torres going to score hatfuls? Probably not. I wouldn't want to put my trust in him. Replacing Drogba is a good idea (although I'm sticking) but I'd want someone more reliable than Torres.

What change(s), if any would you make to my team (linked)? Take it that Tevez will not be transferred out (even though I aint sure about that yet)

Funny how everyone talking up Torres , positive reinforcement of the worst kind.

Reminds me of the week when everyone was talking of replacing Berbatov for Elmander , because Elamander had some great fixtures coming up.

Berbatov scored five goals and Elmander made two points

I didnt buy into the whole Bolton Bandwagon either as they are not a top class team and neither Davies or Elmander are top class players, but I do think Torres is worth getting as he is a top class striker and one of these day he is going to explode into action. Of Liverpools next eight fixtures, Torres, no doubt, has the potential to get 12 - 14 goals. Now I dont see that fully happening, but if it does then I'd hate to miss out on it...

I aint going to debate that because its completely irrelevant, this isnt a game about which team is better that each other, its about picking the right individuals who will bring in points consistently and right now Torres looks better poised than almost anyone to do so.

If this was the Torres of 2007/08 playing in a good Liverpool side then i might agree with you.

However a 2011 disinterested Torres , playing in a poorly run team lacking confidence then your dreaming if you think he will score 14 in the next eight games

I wasnt implying that Liverpool were top class because they aint, I was implying that if Bolton WERE top class then I may have invested in Elmander. There is nothing else in that statement.
In same way that because I think Torres is top class its definetly worth while investing in him.

Your dreaming if you dismiss torres's chance of some huge scores with a run of very nice home fixtures. Sure it's not a given like a couple seasons ago when he was the best striker in the world but comparing him to Elmander is just silly.

I bought K Davies instead of Elmander. A good transfer for me as I got a return of average 6 points from him in his recent 4 matches. Definitely keeping him as Bolton will play West Brom next week.

I also bought Torres in for Drogba last gw. Doesn't sound bad for me as Liverpool's fixtures looks tempting. You may argue that Torres is a bad reinforcement but at this moment, no striker stands out from the watchlist, not even Tevez. I would say 'yes' to those who are planning to bring Torres into their team.

I replied to your post in the other topic.

The only thing I make use of through being a member is the season ticker and the 'sort by difficulty' function. I rarely check the stats. I tried, but it didn't help at all.

It tells you what games are coming up for each team and the potential difficulty of each. When you click on sort by difficulty, the team with the best run of fixtures over the next five weeks goes on top. Right now Liverpool are on top with most of their matches in blue as they're playing supposedly easy to defeat teams.

It's handy but can't always be trusted.

Im deciding whether to transfer him out for Onuoha.. Is that pointless? It's probly a long term move as well as short term, not sure though.. Team is:

    Foster Robinson
    Ridgewell Jags Toure Elmo Jara
    Nani Malouda Nasri Adam N'Zogbia
    Drogba Elmander Carroll

Probly gonna hold onto Malouda til WC, unless VDV is fit and firing again.. I'll upgrade Ridgewell also, probly to Vidic long term.. Thoughts and Opinions on what you'd do? Cheers!

Malouda has probably been Chelsea's best attacking player during this bad run, his form suggests that when Chelsea find their goal scoring touch again he'll be one of the biggest scorers.

Again right. But the chemistry is gonna change again with Frank coming back in the lineup. Don't forget that Kalou is a starter, and with Essien, Mikel and Lampard regularly in the first team, I reckon that Malouda's place is gonna be in the eyes of both Kalou and Anelka. Again, that's only an opinion...

Yeah imo I think Lampard's return will make all the difference and we'll start seeing Chelsea of old. However I think Malouda will benefit more than anyone from that. As for Kalou I don't see him as anymore than backup when everyone's fit, Malouda, Drogba and Anelka are nailed on for the front 3 until new signings come in.
