The Carlos Tevez transfer saga is without doubt playing havoc with the minds of Fantasy Football Managers. In the Fantasy Premier League (FPL) game Tevez boasts the third highest points tally and is owned by a whopping 24.3% as a result. Beyond that existing ownership, plenty of others will have been eyeing up Tevez as an option with City entering a kind run of opponents over the forthcoming Gameweeks. In the light of the weekend’s events however, there’s every chance that Tevez will not be seen in a City shirt again this season then, let alone in Monday’s fixture with Everton at Eastlands.

The initial signs are positive however. The want-away striker apparently smiled his way through training and the latest reports suggest that he is happy to continue playing for City for the time being. His adviser Kia Joorabchian has recently stated…

“Carlos has never said he is not going to play so those rumours are rubbish. He will play if picked and 100% do his best. He feels that is important every time he puts on the shirt.”

In the main then, his Fantasy owners are surely set to hold firm, at least until we hear an official statement from City. That’s when we are due to get Roberto Mancini’s take on the situation; his view will be crucial.

It’s still not 100% certain that the City boss will select Tevez. Mancini has favoured a 4-5-1 for much of the season and 20 year-old loose cannon, Mario Balotelli, has all the potential to become City’s principal attacker. Plus of course, City won convincingly at West Ham last time out, without a suspended Tevez.

If the Argentinian’s Eastlands departure is confirmed, Mancini will surely have to decide on who to appoint as his new captain as Tevez’s stance will do little for dressing room morale. Whether Mancini opts to make a replacement signing in the January transfer window remains to be seen, but reports suggest that the likes of current FPL joint top scorer Andy Carroll, Atletico Madrid’s Sergio Aguero, Edin Dzeko and a swap deal for either Karim Benzema or Gonzalo Higuain are all firmly on City’s radar.

Tevez possible destination is another matter, with his most obvious port of call, Real Madrid, reportedly unable to afford the Argentine, it is unclear where he will end up. Reports generally seem to think that he is destined for La Liga, although an Argentinian journalist, who is reportedly close to Tevez’s family, has stated that a move to another Premier League club is not outside the realms of possibility…

“Carlos is unhappy with Manchester City and some of the relationships in the club – he is not unhappy with England, with the Premier League. He says he is tired, he is mentally and physically tired, but the impression he gives is that he will not give up football – and his motivation is not money. Carlos will join another club, and although Spain offers him another option – one where his family may be prepared to move nearer to him – he could stay in England.”

We’re informed that Roberto Mancini will hold talks with Tevez on Friday and that will be the next major development in the saga. Until then we can expect further speculation and conflicting reports from all corners of the media. The only certainty right now is that Tevez remains a crucial player – not only for City but also for many Fantasy Managers.

"At least 700 people have been arrested in central Moscow in an attempt to prevent further ethnic clashes over the shooting of a football fan"

People of different ethnicities from across the world will be gathered in Russia in 2018. That's less than 8 years to sort out this problem or Mr. Blatter and his organisation are going to look extremely foolish.

    Regarding Torres.

All the Torres love is based on previous seasons.
All the people who say Liverpool have a good run of fixtures , forget that there is no such thing for this poorly lead team.

Wasnt Newcastle supposed to be a very easy fixture ? and they were played off the park.

Fulham are suposed to be an easy fixture , however i dont see it that way at all . Not much to choose between them at the moment

I think anyone who kept their heads straight knew Newcastle away was not going to be a picnic, particularly with Barton returning. People just got carried away because of the Hughton sacking, Fulham at home is a much easier game.

      1) liverpool were never played off the park against newcastle, they had the majority of the play but newcastle took all their chances.
      2) largely the torres love is based on the past, but there have also been games this season e.g v chelsea in which he has fired. the torres love is usually torres anfield love.
      3) no away fixture is an easy fixture for liverpool, i doubt anyone was really that over confident.

I support Liverpool and I agree with you. At the moment you can not judge Liverppool players on previous seasons. So in the case of Torres - think - striker, low in confidence, not scoring, playing for a mid table team. If Aston Villa had a good run of games would you put Agbonlahor in your team??????

Its was never going to be easy form liverpool AWAY to a full strength newcastle who i got to say got a few good players.

Fulham on the other hand are historically poor travellers made worse by injured strikers. Anfield is still close to a fortress.

The key question is how up for the game toress will be

Is there anywhere you can get a tally of braces, hat-tricks and above?

I’m thinking if we maybe look at the stats from the last couple of years we can figure out who’s capable of the really big hauls.

I can guess the usual suspects, but if we start with everyone with 20+ goals a season, that would be a good look for the captain potentials.

I'll ask your permission next time.

It's only a few weeks since your club's star striker was doing the same thing. He was offered more money a couple of days after saying he was leaving the club and signed. It's ridiculous that now you're dancing around with glee because it's happening to someone else.

It's completely different set of circumstances, the only similarity is they both wanted to leave. And when is it illegal to be happy one of your main rivals is struggling, especially when they were only too happy to rub our noses it in with Rooney. Good grief you you're a bore. Don't like it? From an outside point of view, it's not a different set of circumstances. They've both aired their dirty laundry in public and made a bit of a scene, and their reward will be a new big contract. They'll both get a bit of bother from fans on their first match back, then it will be forgotten and we'll move on to the next tit-for-tat.

    Hi all.

Toughts appreciated on my current team:

    Reina;Begovic
Coleman; Evra; R Johnson; Simpson; Jara
    Cahill; Nasri; Nani; Bale; MGP
    Drogba; Elmander; Caroll

    4,3 in the bank.

Having doubts about doing this week free transfer or stay put and get 2 next week.

But on the other side i feel i need to improve some areas:
    - defense: maybe with one Sunderland or Man City defender for Jara;
    - midfield: maybe take a gamble with Lamps (in that case downgrade Drogs)
    - attack: the plan was Drogs to Tevez this week but with this Tevez-case ongoing i'm off. Elmander is also in a kind of slump with 3 GW doing nothing and Sunderland next is not ideal to start firing again, also Liv and Chelsea next... Maybe drop Elmander to who? (10,5 available in that case)

    Once again toughts appreciated guys.

    Cheers from Oporto.

WOW! what a weird few weeks… what to do…
please RMT. all thoughts greatly appreciated.

    Foster (Jaaskelainen)
Kolarov Vidic Cole A (Simpson Coleman)
Nasri Bale Nani Brunt (c) (Ferguson)
    Rooney Tevez Carroll

    considering… so much really…
    a. Jussi – Reina/Robinson (kinda weary of blackburn though)
    b. Simpson/Coleman/Vidic – Konch (had cole since start)
    c. Ferg – Nzog (yet believe in keeping ferg for bench fodder)
    d. Tevez – RVP/??????

Really stuck with my bench and captain for this gameweek considering the fixtures – any help would be much appreciated!

    Foster – Carson
    A. Cole – Vidic – Konchesky – Foley – Jones
    Nasri – Nani – Essien – Brunt – Cahill
    Tevez – K. Davies – Carroll

    Thanks

Brunt, Tevez or Nasri I reckon. Got Tevez as my captain at the moment but think I would put it on Brunt if I had him this week.

Indeed, I'm thinking about taking out Cahill for Brunt and captaining him this week myself.

        +1

Very funny song, but it's ridiculously overplayed.

With regards your dilemma, I wouldn't count out RVP, back on set pieces and a top player. Fixtures aren't amazing but I'm considering him. Definately get Torres.

Was thinking of getting RvP too but he's been pretty poor since returning from injury. He looks sluggish and cumbersome.

A new and even better saga is about to erupt in Madrid as 3 different spanish papers are now reporting that Ronaldo wants to quit the club and move away from spain and la liga where he enjoys no support neither on or off the field..

    Tevez ‘Will Play If Picked’

Lazy jounalism, do you actually get paid for this??

oh wait sorry, thought I was on the Guardian blog!

Yep hopefully Tevez plays on monday and is firing on all cylinders. Just don't trust Torres, especially if Stevie G doesn't play

Right gents, off on holiday tomorrow so need some advice on my team.

Thought on potential transfers and subs?

    Gordon
    Konchesky, Samba, Kolarov
    Nasri, Nani, Cahill, Pederson
    Torres(c), Elmander, Carroll

    Jaask, Jarvis, Vidic, Coleman

This whole "Brucie realising Darren Bent isn't that good" nonsense has potentially ruined a potentially good differential for me this weekend. I have the funds to buy Torres or Tevez instead but something tells me to stick with Bent for this game...

There was a tweet saying Bent wasn't guaranteed a starting spot, and that Wellbeck and Gyan are gonna have it rotated between them. Something like that.
