Carlos Tevez has withdrawn his formal transfer request after “clear the air talks” with Roberto Mancini and the club.

The news comes just hours before Tevez is due to take the field for City against Everton in a game which could see Mancini’s side climb to the summit of the Premier League.

In an official club statement City announce that “Carlos expressed his absolute commitment to the Club and formally withdrew his transfer request.”

A delighted Roberto Mancini went a stage further…

“Carlos is a world class player whose contribution since he joined the Club has been invaluable. I am pleased that we are now able to focus on pure football matters and to be able to look forward to Carlos continuing to play a significant role in the Club’s progress.”

The news comes as a major boost for City and for Fantasy owners of Carlos Tevez. The Argentine will presumably now wear the captain’s armband in tonight’s game.

Expect Tevez to crash back into our Watchlist rankings in tomorrow’s update.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Tevez is even more a drama queen than Drogba. I didnt think it could be possible to top Drogs.

Utopian view on the Tevez scenario:

    1. Mancini jets off early to Turin on Sunday (for a minor eye operation prior to the Juve game) unaware that the transfer request story is about to break.

    2. The slanging match starts but Mancini tells both sides to STFU until he's back. Press continue making up stories.

    3. Mancini and City's lawyer meet with Tevez and Joorabchian.

    4. Mancini plays the 'good cop' and strokes his ego and tells what a great player he is and how valuable to City he is.

    5. City's lawyer ('bad cop') tells Tevez and Joorabchian that if he fails to see out his contract (refuses to play or retires) City will sue them collectively for £50m. City are playing hardball and it's between themselves (Tevez/Joorabchian) who pays what percentage. City don't care. They want their money back. But they will sue.

    6. Tevez, but more probably Joorabchian, think 'shit!' and bottle it.

    7. Vague promises from Manicini/Lawyer to review the situation in the summer. Everyone shakes hands and smiles.

    Sorted.
