Charlie Adam finally returned to action this weekend and was once again influential in a Blackpool performance at Man City that won them further plaudits.

Having been denied appearances by postponements and a belated one-game ban, Adam is now firmly back on our radar at an opportune time.

The postponed games have created a backlog of Bloomfield Road fixtures that now makes Blackpool players all the more attractive in Fantasy Football terms. With three double gameweeks of home matches coming up (BIR & LIV, wba, SUN & MUN, WHM, eve, AVL & TOT) and favourable opponents such as West Ham at home, Ian Holloway’s men present some alluring options.

Charlie Adam looks to be the number one target to consider amongst Ian Holloway’s assets…

In the Fantasy Premier League (FPL) game the Scot has already notched up 77 points this season. As well as having the potential to find the back of the net (3 goals) and set-up teammates (4 assists). With Adam dominating set-plays for the Tangerines, he always carries the promise of potential returns.

Adam is also charged with some serious Bonus Points magnetism and has managed to grab 25 so far this term, the highest in the game with his latest maximum gathered in the defeat to City. Our Members’s OPTA stats clearly show Adam to be amongst the most influential players in the league in terms of “touches” and “passes” and it’s this presence that continues to hoover up the Bonus. There’s no reason why this pull should diminish over the frenzied Blackpool schedule, particularly if Holloway’s side can go on defying the odds and earning points.

Adam’s ownerships has understandably been plummeting in recent weeks and he now has a current FPL coverage of 12.1%. Combine that with a valuation of just £5.4 million and Adam looks like a reliable cut-price choice to compliment your more costly and explosive midfield options.

As the cold snap seems to be momentarily ceasing and Bloomfield Road finally thaws out, now appears to be the ideal time to pick a rested and rejuvenated Charlie Adam; a player who has helped shape Blackpool into this fearlessly entertaining side that everyone has developed such a soft spot for. Certainly, if the current Captain Poll results are any indication, Adam is in big demand as we enter Blackpool’s first double fixture against Birmingham and Liverpool. He currently dominates the poll with 44% of the votes so far.

johnfinlay John swears he'll deliver unbiased Fantasy Premier League tips and news...until Leeds get promoted.

He's good. And we're not exactly concrete at the back.

You may as well stick £3 on him. Still doubled your money if Austin doesn't score.

Had an absolutely awful gameweek (30 points)... really didn't see it coming either.
I've potentially got Carroll, Nani and N'Zogbia all out for this gameweek too.

Any ideas what I can do with this team? I've already done Cahill -> Adam.

    Foster (Gordon)
    Vidic Kolarov Konchesky (Nelsen Coleman)
    Nasri VDV Nani(c) Adam (N’Zogbia)
    Carroll Tevez Berbatov

    Bank: 4.9, 1 free transfer

    Cheers.

I used my free this week to bring inn Evatt. If you do that, you might have three plaers with two games. Torres is also an option, but might be a gamble since he rarely plays good away from Anfield.

    Hi guys,

Which one of my midfield of Nani, Nasri, Fabs, Bale and VDV should i sell for Adam? I am kind of loathe to get rid of any of them but I guess Nasri or Bale are the best bets?

Yep thats my thinking too. Is Nasri and Bale out for Gerrard and Adam too much? It would be a 4 point hit but would reduce the reliance on Arsenal and Tottenham doing well.

On the flip side, Tottenham always concede and Coleman is as good a shout as any Everton player to be involved. Plus my other defenders are Jara and Lolarov. And no, I don't want a fecking Blackpool defender!!

Plus, Coleman will 100% play vs Spurs. They need him to put Bale back in his pocket like in the reverse fixture. 😉

He looked up for it against Bolton, and the Blackpool fixture alone is a good shout for a big score. I was even going to captain him for the original fixture (obviously only a single week).

He's got a good record vs Blackeye Rovers too, and they are rubbish right now.

plus we had this convo on totalfpl about how theyd pair up and they could either have him as a lone striker (which seems to suit tevez) or they could drop balotelli and have him play there instead....

Not a clue how City will line up if/when he does join though... Mancini clearly loves Yaya playing in that advanced role, and De Jong + Barry are both playing fairly well too at the moment. Perhaps Tevez is off?

I think that midfield has the perfect balance, you have the destroyer: De Jong, the box to boxer: YaYa and the magician: Silva.

Just because city are playing 3DMs now doesn't mean they always have to.

The attack is unbalanced though. Tevez runs a lot, but is ultimately a forward, Balotelli won't do any running whatsoever, and Dzeko won't have anyone to cross the ball into him. It looks more like a Kevin Keegan interpretation of 4-3-3 than anything.

Man City use 3 DMs because it suits their style of play, they're very patient and play at a very slow pace. Having three proper forwards, plus Silva, means they'll need to get the ball up the pitch very quickly.

He's a better player than Barry, lets put it that way. If he wanted to play 2 holding mids, Yaya would get my vote over Barry. Still, i hope he DOES play Barry, De Jong and Yaya as it'll annoy all those strikers they've bought no end. 😀

Been away for new year in Amsterdam. Trying to work out a couple of things without trawling back through old posts...

Konchesky - rested, dropped or injured? Should I change for another Liverpool or Blackpool defender?

Nani - still injured? likely to be back for this weeks game?

    Cheers

I think SAF said that the Stoke game is a realistic return date for Nani, so hopefully he'll play. We'll know the Utd line up before the deadline anyway, so no need to worry too much yet.

Konchesky was seemingly dropped. Woy probably caved into the pressure of the fans and took Konchesky out of the spotlight for the last game. Given that Liverpool have 3 games in a week coming up (the two in the double and then the FA Cup game with Utd) so given the fact that Aurelio can barely play twice in a week, it's probably worth holding onto to Konchesky as he'll probably play at least one of the games in the league.

      NICE , how was it?

      konchesky who knows,
we have 2 articles to go by, one saying he wants to leave, but not let, atest article saying he wants to prove himself!!

so its hard to call whether he was dropped or rested!
case for dropped, fans jeered when he was brought off a week early,
he should have no fitness issues

case for rested, it is the hectic xmas periord, so hard to call at this stage, aurelio never made the grade in the past, which is why woy signed konchesky
if roy drops konchesky hes basically not backing himself!

nani unknown, as likely to be back as he was last game, so we should see him (i think), but we should have teamsheet before deadline, im worried he might be benched.

Here's my team, made one free change already (Drogba > Carroll)

    Hart (Carson)
Nelson, Hangeland, Knight, K Toure (Will he play?) (Jara)
    Malouda, Nasri, Bale, Brunt (Nani)
    Balotelli, Drogba (Elmander)

What do you guys think? Should I make an extra change and take 4 point hit? Also any wor on Nani if he will be playing etc?

The reason i'm doubtful is because i think Roy has to play him full time against United in the cup. not sure how strong he'll be after that game, because 3 games in a week is tough for torres. But of course he could do well, he's the type of player that can bag a brace quite easily if its his day. Blackburn and blackpool are both tempting fixtures. It's a tough one to call, i simply can't decide. the upside is that torres also has a good GW24 (fulham at home and wolves away) but drogba has easy games in that time too.

nice first one, second one, so hard to call!
i have a feeling he will only score score 4 max more then drogba
BUT on the other hand, paying 4 points for a top striker playing 180 minutes (maybe) , definitely worth it!

hell do it, take the risk, if it goes wrong, it goes wrong, but if you miss the boat, many others will be on it!
