With Wildcards fluttering madly, the timing of the update to our Watchlist player rankings couldn’t be better. You’ll find our current thinking in your sidebar on the frontpage.

Arsenal’s forthcoming run of obliging opponents, coupled with a delicious double in Gameweek 27 is behind their boost to their assets this week. While Samir Nasri has strong coverage in squads across the Fantasy Premier League (FPL) game, now might be the time to contemplate further Gunners investment with the likes of Cesc Fabregas, Robin Van Persie and even Johan Djourou earning attention and high placings in our tables.

Joe Hart’s showing at the Emirates that helped to fetch Man City their twelfth clean sheet of the season did little to shake his position atop our Goalkeeper rankings. Hart and City don’t benefit from any double Gameweeks but his fixtures remain favourable enough to see him hold that position. Edwin Van der Sar with two double Gameweeks, is his nearest rival with Wigan’s Al-Habsi providing the most desirable budget option with three home games in the next four to come. Arsenal’s Lucasz Fabianski is back in the Gunners goal and in form with two consecutive clean sheets – his forthcoming opponents, including that kind double in Gameweek 27, appear to offer the potential for him to go on delivering value in the mid-price bracket.

Finding five defenders to recommend at this time is a major task. With Chelsea in continuous decline, Roberto Mancini rotating heavily and Liverpool looking alarmingly frail, the options are largely cut to low and mid-price selections.

United’s Rafael holds on to top spot as he continues to offer value in a relatively solid United backline that has two doubles on the horizon. The Brazilian should be protected from rotation given Gary Neville’s recent performance at West Brom, although John O’Shea (when fit) and Wes Brown could become factors.

Below the United man, Everton’s Seamus Coleman climbs with outstanding form – damaging his team-mate Leighton Baines’ appeal in the process. Coleman now looks to have cemented the right midfield role and provides superb value at 5.0 in the FPL. Wigan’s Antolin Alcaraz is perhaps a punt in our top five, but short-term fixtures and his Bonus Point potential has him climb to third spot. Sunderland’s Phil Bardsley has form but suffers a slight drop as fixtures toughen up. City’s Kolo Toure is now the only secure option within a strong City defence in the FPL and will remain so while Mancini continues to tinker with his full-backs.

Fulham’s Brede Hangeland and the emerging potential of Arsenal’s Johan Djourou are our highest new entries and offer value further down our rankings. There’s every indication that the Swiss defender is holding the centre-back spot in Arsene Wenger’s back four – if that continues at West Ham, expect a climb into our top five in preparation for Arsenal’s continued kind run.

The midfield rankings continue to be fairly settled. The big movement sees Charlie Adam climb into our top five, with Gareth Bale dropping to sixth. We’ve gone for both Samir Nasri and Cesc Fabregas for Arsenal’s spell which surely promises plenty of goals and assists for the pairing.

Below the big five you can find value in the mid-price with Kevin Nolan and Chris Brunt continuing to offer a degree of consistency. Brunt will enjoy a further climb if he can rediscover form to coincide with the Baggies attractive double home fixtures in Gameweek 27.

Controversially perhaps, Dimitar Berbatov holds on to the top ranking amongst the forwards, despite a recent decline. Wayne Rooney’s fitness is a big factor to the Bulgarian’s form and with him set to return to action this weekend, we would expect Berbatov to start firing again, just in time for United’s double Gameweeks.

Carlos Tevez doesn’t benefit from extra fixtures and subsequently drops to third with Fernando Torres perhaps needing a goal at Blackpool ahead of his three Anfield games in four. Robin Van Persie is the big climber – he presents the alternative for those looking to harness Arsenal’s potential. Although yet to blink on the radar, Van Persie has shown glimpses and has been influential since his return.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Ya, it would be a sad place to finish your career. However, the fact that he isnt getting any playing time might be an insentive. At 30 years of age, I'm sure he would like to be on the pitch more than 15 mins or less a game before calling it quits.

I'm finding it hard to WC - full stop. The changes I want to make I can do over the next 4 weeks, injuries etc permitting.

      Planning:
GW23 - Konchesky out Djourou in (double gw or not)
GW24 - Tevez out Berba in
GW25 - Hutton out Raphael in
GW26 - Torres out RVP in

Can still WC week 27 if I'm unhappy with how they're performing, but otherwise I'm pretty happy with that team and will have 4.2 in bank barring increases.

Seems silly seeing how bad they are but how many Liverpool players do people plan to have for their double in GW24? I currently have Torres & G Johnson but had planned to ditch Johnson for a cheap defender and get in Fabregas with the spare cash. But really want to make the most out of the doubles so do you think it's worth either keeping Johnson or downgrading to Skrtel?

U have to be careful with doubles and weigh up each teams fixtures along with the form, it's unlikely Skrtel and Torres are gonna be anywhere near my biggest scorers this week, but obvviously in 24 Arsenals fixtures are too good to ignore.

So is it like double or nothing for the first two, then anything after that is a bonus?

For example, if Doncaster and Peterborough win, their money is safe and if Millwal win you get that as well, but then say Sheff Utd lose, you get up to and including Millwall winnings?

                  Can't answer u said last question 😉

No it's basically 21 bets I think, u are basically bettin on:

                  Millwall & Doncaster to win
                  Millwall & Peterborough to win
                  Doncaster & Peterborough to win
                  Etc.

They are all different bets, Its probably a dumb idea, I'm not a experienced better, it's best to put on singles or an accumulator I reckon.

Personally I am not very fond of Kuyt, Bale has double in GW 27. Depends how much cash u've paid for Bale.

I think Hangleland its to expensive. Skrtel also but all the doubles maybe it worth. Givet is no good for your team. Sell him.

Im not struggling for cash and Im only doing short term transfers because Im planning to use my WC in WC 27.

Im planning to probably get Skrtel in my for Givet. I think that my team is good enough to play until GW 27 when I use my WC. Thats why Im focusing on the next DGW.

I am also planning to get Bale out when I use my WC because I already have VDV. But for now Im probably keep him for some more weeks.

Ill probably just get rid of Givet first who has been a pain for Skrtel who has a DGW and some nice fixtures.

Evening lads I really will appreciate feedback.

I was happy with my team and had a plan for the double in GW 24. I planned to use my wild card before GW 27 for the second double but it seems so difficult to find teams that have good fixtures. IT seems like better to use it now and bring certain Mr. Cesc. GW 27 is good for Arsenal players and WBA who are in free fall. Anybody having second thoughts and using the WC now or? I am having problems with my defense really. Especially If I use it for the second W Card. Sun defenders - bad fixtures, Tot (Dawson also), New cheap defense bad fixtures also. Do not know what to do.

Use it now or wait? If I use it know I will make 6-7 trades.
    Cheers,

Wait, january will be hectic with the cups/transfers and all. Just do your WC in GW 27. Your team looks pretty good and you dont need major surgery imo.

Get 1 or 2 more players for the next DGW cause the good DGW teams also have easy fixtures after the DGW. By that time its almost GW 27.

Thats my plan. You can thank me later when you get massive points.

If it helps Daniel, this was my reply to Goose earlier:

---I’m finding it hard to WC – full stop. The changes I want to make I can do over the next 4 weeks, injuries etc permitting.

      Planning:
GW23 – Konchesky out Djourou in (double gw or not)
GW24 – Tevez out Berba in
GW25 – Hutton out Raphael in
GW26 – Torres out RVP in

Can still WC week 27 if I’m unhappy with how they’re performing, but otherwise I’m pretty happy with that team and will have 4.2 in bank barring increases.---

From Wk 27 onwards the following have pretty decent fixtures - ARS, AVL, SUN, CHE, WOL, BLA, BIR. So you can use your WC in GW 27 to bring in some of those players or to revamp your team if it's not performing.

Purely my opinion though 🙂 My team is in the link btw.
