Liverpool football club confirmed the inevitable this morning with the announcement that Roy Hodgson has left the club “by mutual consent” (why can’t we just say sacked?). The official word from Liverpool’s new owner John Henry is as follows…

“We are grateful for Roy’s efforts over the past six months, but both parties thought it in the best interests of the club that he stand down from his position as team manager. We wish him all the best for the future.”

The departure of Hodgson was becoming more a case of when and not if over recent weeks and months, the home loss to Wolves was seen as the final straw by many but the late home win against Bolton seemed to offer Hogdson another late reprieve. Days later Blackburn so resolutely trumped Liverpool on Wednesday by three goals to one that the writing was quite literally on the wall…

What this now means is that [many of] the Liverpool fans now get what they wanted back in the summer with the added announcement that Kenny Dalglish has been granted temporary charge of team affairs. Dalglish starts with the FA Cup trip to Old Trafford and will stay in charge through to the end of the season. Club chairman Tom Werner said…

“No one who cares for this great club has been happy with the way this season has unfolded and we have examined options and considered at length what is best for us going forward. Kenny will bring considerable experience to the position and provide management and leadership for the rest of the season.”

Fans and Fantasy Managers alike were getting frustrated with the tactics employed by the now incumbent manager so it will be interesting to track exactly how the Merseyside legend attempts to bring his club back from the brink, having not managed for the past decade the size of task on his hands must not be under-estimated.

In Fantasy Football terms, Liverpool have a decent run of games (EVE, wlv/FUL, STK, che, WIG) having been Frisked just days ago which, in combination with the impetus often following a new managerial appointment, may provide renewed vigour when it comes to investing in a Liverpool side that has disappointed more often than not to date. With the club in the midst of their own double-gameweek, and with an FA Cup tie to play tomorrow, managers will have time to assess how and if anything has clearly changed over these two games before we enter our next gameweek.

The picture of Liverpool’s defence will have many questions that need answering as the likes of Konchesky and Aurelio will be vying for their new managers favour and Daniel Agger hoping to get a smoother ride than he seemingly faced under Hodgson. The 12% of Fernando Torres owners and 10% of Steven Gerrard proprietors will be hoping King Kenny also adopts a more attacking formation last seen in the Benitez era which will be built around Liverpool’s two star players as opposed to the rugged 4-4-2 we have been seeing somewhat stifle them this season.

Those already on the Liverpool bandwagon hope the club will bring a spark with them to Blackpool on Wednesday to boost their first double-gameweek of the season; but for now, we wait, and watch.

Is anyone finding it really difficult to find a differential? Most teams on here I look at have about 7-10 players the same as me. 😆

I like the look of my team but I'm really not sure on it at the same time...

I guess alot of it comes down to captain choice aswell though...

the captain choice is the differential, some people seem to get it right all the time and it makes a hell of a difference.

The 7-10 you refer to are common because they produce, getting rid is only worth it if you are way behind.

Possible Wc team, to be played before the next gw.

    Foster Gordon
    Foley Coleman Djourou Alex Rafael
    Fabs VdV Nani Adam Nzog
    Torres Tevez Carroll

Abandoning the 2 defenders from the same team business because i simply couldn't afford to do it with the front 8.

No to Djourou (rotation risk when Vermaelen is back), Alex (injured for a while yet) and Carroll (tough fixtures, tough GW and also injured). Also, prefer Fabianski & Bergovic to Foster & Gordon. That's my opnion anyway. Rest is good.

      Hi AP,

I'd try and get Drogba for this gameweek as I can see a big haul for him against Blackburn, he will be my captain.

I think the Carroll boat might have sailed now - there are some good cheaply priced alternatively froms double gameweek teams who are worth looking at...

Do Foster and Gordon rotate well? Maybe go Foster and Harper and then do Alex -> Bardsley.

I think you need to carefully consider the upcoming double weeks, is the plan to get Rooney in for the United dbl>?

Drogba! That's the biggest gamble i've heard so far considering his recent form.

Foster and Gordon don't rotate but i think they are the best cheap goalkeepers at the moment.

Would like Rooney for the double, but his ankle still worries me.

The concensus on WC seems to be either before the DGW coming or DGW 27.

Is it not as simple as picking what your WC team would be for each time. Then with those 3 teams, Current Team, WC24 Team, WC27 Team.

If, in terms of transfers, your current team is further from your WC24 team, than your WC24 team wud be from your WC27 team, You should use it now?

Easy to follow I know 🙂

    Hi Guys

Thinking ahead to GW24 who is the best Liverpool player to have under the current circumstances?

    Skrtel or Gerrard

Gerrard should be in the hole with Kenny in charge.. so I'd say Stevie-G.

Is anyone finding it really difficult to find a differential? Most teams on here I look at have about 7-10 players the same as me.

I like the look of my team but I’m really not sure on it at the same time…

I guess alot of it comes down to captain choice aswell though…

I've played my wild and have managed to scrape every last 0.1 together and I can get RVP instead of Berbatov. What do you think, stick with Berbs or go fro RVP given that he's going up in price?

Considering the double I think you should go with Berbs. I'm hoping he gets rested against Spurs and plays both games in the DGW. RvP could easily outscore him against Wham and Wigan though..

It's a toughie, but long term can RVP keep his fitness. If I don't take the plunge this week I'm struggling for cash. Oh I don't know, *wanders off muttering*

I wouldn't put Walcott in your team, rotation means he's the type of player to cause tears in those who own him, but Nani as close to necessary as it goes I think.

So... neither of those two combinations if I'm honest.

Routledge is a homeless man's Walcott.

He has absolutely nothing to his game but pace.

He's found his level tonight, and even that's being generous.
