Charlie Adam is at the centre of today’s transfer speculation circus with Ian Holloway confirming that Blackpool have turned down bids for their skipper. The offers from Birmingham and Aston Villa and are thought to be in the region of £2.5 million; Sunderland are also thought to be an interested party.

Holloway reacted to the bids by confirming that Blackpool were under no pressure to sell their star asset…

“We’re a well-run club, we’ve got no reason to sell anyone, in fact we want to add in this window, not lose anyone.”

He did however also confirm that he has had talks with Adam only this morning and indicated that the player could move on if the money was right…

“It’s important to keep working with him [Adam] to achieve one of his ultimate goals, which is to play for one of the top four or five, or even six, clubs. We have got him for 18 months on his contract and if one of those top clubs I told him this morning come in then I might have to consider it, but they would have to offer the right amount of money for this club to move forward.”

Fantasy Managers will need to monitor the situation closely. There’s no doubt that Adam has adapted brilliantly the Premier League stage and, while his goal and assist returns have remained moderate (3 goals, 4 assists), Adam has stood out in Holloway’s side and dominated their Fantasy Premier League (FPL) Bonus Point returns as a result. The heartbeat of the team, Adam tops of the FPL Bonus rankings with a hugely impressive haul of 27. Whilst he remains at Bloomfield Road that total would seem likely to keep ticking away – a move in the January transfer window would likely disrupt that. Certainly if either Villa or Birmingham are successful with follow-up bids, you would expect Adam’s returns in terms of Bonus to take a dent, while his influence at set-plays could also diminish.

In the short-term, his Fantasy owners will be hoping that this latest speculation will not get in the way of Adam taking to the field for Blackpool’s second fixture of the Gameweek on Wednesday. The Scot will wear the Gameweek 22 armband for many Fantasy Managers when Blackpool take on Liverpool and, having returned another couple of Bonus in the defeat to Birmingham last week, hopes will be high for further profit. Adam was rested for Blackpool’s 2-0 FA Cup defeat to Southampton at the weekend.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Apologies posted this earlier by accident meant to be here...

TRANSFER POINTS HITS – ARE THEY WORTH IT?

Just wondered what other peoples thoughts were?

Personally, I believe that points hits are a bad idea and should be avoided unless absolutely neccessary (like only having 9 fit outfield players playing or something). Its all very well saying if x comes in he is due a goal/assist but we dont know what is going to happen and they are just as likely to miss a penalty or get sent off.

I decided at beginning of last season (my 4th playing FPL) to refrain from 4 point hits and it served me well, won my mini league and my best season to date.

So far this season no points hits. I am always surprised how many people are willing to take hits on here and in general (one of my mates has made over 50 transfers already this season and guess what he is down the bottom.

I looked at the Top 20 FPL teams currently overall and no. of transfers made (1 a week would be 22)

    1st 8
    2nd 17
    3rd 8
    4th 14
    5th 19
    6th 22
    7th 13
    8th 19
    9th 18
    10th 21
    11th 21
    12th 22
    13th 20
    14th 11
    15th 22
    16th 5
    17th 14
    18th 20
    19th 21
    20th 16

So as you can see there are NO teams in top 20 who have made on average more than 1 transfer per week! This is definitely made easier now you can carry over a transfer.

While i agree that these stats are interested, i personally don't think they make the point you arrived at.

Surely the people at the top now are those teams that started with a good set of player, those that have scored consistantly, and therefore not needed to make transfers.

What if you had a terrible start? You may need points hits to bring your team back around.

True, but i don't think its as clear cut as that. I played my WC early as i felt i hadn't picked the right people. But even after my WC things didn't go quite right. Poor decisions probably on my part fair enough, but i wouldn't call it not correctable, but i think i need points hits to do it.

Having said that i am looking forward to my WC soon!

I think it's more important to pick a really good team in the first week. If you do that, and can avoid 4 point hits, like the top 20 in the world did, you will have a really good team. However, if your team suffers injuries or you pick a lemon you have to make moves.

Begovic, Foster. Coleman, Kolarov, Rafael, Sagna, Terry. Adam, Albrighton, Nani, VDV, Yaya. Carroll, Drogba, Tevez.

Would not involve me playing my 2nd W/C. Thanks

How’s this for a WC team (unsure whether to use it or not):

    Hart/Stockdale
    Rafael/Djourou/Huth/Coleman/Dann
    Fabregas/Nani/VDV/Adam/Brunt
    Tevez/RVP/Carroll

Then bringing in Rooney for Tevez the next week.

    I've done 34 transfers... Overkill?
But 55,000 flat + 12point Nani and Captain Adam & Fail-Johnson to play = Good week. So that seems like a good return in overall rank?
Although I know this site has a high average, but I do seem to be roughly average in terms of overall rank for different teams I've clicked on 🙂

Hey guys, Who would be best to get in replace of Cahill?
In my midfield I currently have Cahill, Adam, Nasri, Nani, Bale.

Need to free up some cash so was thinking getting in:
    N'zogbia or Watson

Dempsey bit too expensive for me to free up some cash. Do you rate Watson?

Cool, thanks. Albrighton not being a regular starter and potentially missing one of the games in the DGW, so not sure about him.

Yep, I’m playing my w/c this GW – it had to be done to stop the rot.

Have a look and give me your thoughts:

Foster Stockdale (short term option for fulhams good run)
    Djourou Huth Bardsley Rafael Hangeland
    Adam VDV Fabs NZog Nani
    Tevez Berbatov RVP

    Whay you think?

Just another WC team for everyone to see!

Kinda out of the loop here in NZ but this site serves me kinda ok.

    Fabianski - Begovic
    Bardsley - Hughes - Coleman - Djourou - Foley
    Nani - Adam - VDV - Fab - Yaya
    Tevez - Rod - Torres

I know Torres is a bit of a risk but hey.....

Also not totally convinced on yaya, would brunt be a safer option? Just think that maybe City have a good run of fixtures and playing well.
