Charlie Adam is at the centre of today’s transfer speculation circus with Ian Holloway confirming that Blackpool have turned down bids for their skipper. The offers from Birmingham and Aston Villa and are thought to be in the region of £2.5 million; Sunderland are also thought to be an interested party.

Holloway reacted to the bids by confirming that Blackpool were under no pressure to sell their star asset…

“We’re a well-run club, we’ve got no reason to sell anyone, in fact we want to add in this window, not lose anyone.”

He did however also confirm that he has had talks with Adam only this morning and indicated that the player could move on if the money was right…

“It’s important to keep working with him [Adam] to achieve one of his ultimate goals, which is to play for one of the top four or five, or even six, clubs. We have got him for 18 months on his contract and if one of those top clubs I told him this morning come in then I might have to consider it, but they would have to offer the right amount of money for this club to move forward.”

Fantasy Managers will need to monitor the situation closely. There’s no doubt that Adam has adapted brilliantly the Premier League stage and, while his goal and assist returns have remained moderate (3 goals, 4 assists), Adam has stood out in Holloway’s side and dominated their Fantasy Premier League (FPL) Bonus Point returns as a result. The heartbeat of the team, Adam tops of the FPL Bonus rankings with a hugely impressive haul of 27. Whilst he remains at Bloomfield Road that total would seem likely to keep ticking away – a move in the January transfer window would likely disrupt that. Certainly if either Villa or Birmingham are successful with follow-up bids, you would expect Adam’s returns in terms of Bonus to take a dent, while his influence at set-plays could also diminish.

In the short-term, his Fantasy owners will be hoping that this latest speculation will not get in the way of Adam taking to the field for Blackpool’s second fixture of the Gameweek on Wednesday. The Scot will wear the Gameweek 22 armband for many Fantasy Managers when Blackpool take on Liverpool and, having returned another couple of Bonus in the defeat to Birmingham last week, hopes will be high for further profit. Adam was rested for Blackpool’s 2-0 FA Cup defeat to Southampton at the weekend.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Villa have just signed him on loan, young full back, could possibly be a cheap defender. Scored 9 minutes into his debut at the weekend. Had a cracking game.

definitely not the first option there BILB

or before 27 and some time after

The nightmare scenario is that Blackpool accept a bid for Adam in the next 2 days (that undersoil heating has got to be paid for somehow). Adam is then pulled out of Wednesday's match so he doesn't get injured.

Currently have Adam (C). The others in my mini-league have Torres (C).

Lucky boy! He's been captaining Malouda all season and had Bale on his bench. Even in GW18 he got lucky with Baines becoming his autocaptain.

I think his only change all season was to swap Robinson and Hart around.

That's a pretty bad defence considering you've got two relatively cheap forwards.

It said on one site today that Jonny Evans had 'returned to form'.

Can someone explain to me how 'form' can affect a footballer?

I can undertand it in tennis or snooker where you need extremely good placement of a small ball, and nerves and timing are paramount.

But surely in football, you just need to be super-fit and committed and run around a lot, as 'Arry would say?

Take my virtual pro on fifa for example. When I play with Akers, i am nervous, sort of, he is very very good, and he strikes me as someone that gets angry with me, so therefore I play worse. And I don't want the ball as much. Not to feet anyways, i'll take through balls.

Can't see the point in wasting the wildcard so early, I think it's best to wait a week get a double free transfer and maximize the players with double gameweeks. Then at the end if your team needs tinkering with you have a nice wildcard to hand. Are there any internationals or long break between gameweeks before we have to use the wildcard?

Thought about it when I see he would play Vs Wolves but then I rethought about it, and decided not to. Tevez is on penalties and will hog BP's. I didn't know who he was until a few weeks ago, my European football knowledge is terrible, won't watch him on youtube, that was the sort of thing that almost gave me inspiration to (C) Balotelli Vs West Ham. Hes a punt. I'll give you that.

    Toure Dann Bosingwa (rafael, bardsley)
    Nasri, fabregas, nani, VDV, ADAM,
    Tevez, ANELKA (DJ C)

my question is this... i a planning to keep anelka in for just this GW then transfer berbaflop in for next weeks DGW...

Q: is anelka garuanteed to start against BBURN at home? will he score mor than lets say berba away against Tott, or more importantly RVP away to westham, baring in mind i alreayd have Nasri and Fabs....
