Charlie Adam is at the centre of today’s transfer speculation circus with Ian Holloway confirming that Blackpool have turned down bids for their skipper. The offers from Birmingham and Aston Villa and are thought to be in the region of £2.5 million; Sunderland are also thought to be an interested party.

Holloway reacted to the bids by confirming that Blackpool were under no pressure to sell their star asset…

“We’re a well-run club, we’ve got no reason to sell anyone, in fact we want to add in this window, not lose anyone.”

He did however also confirm that he has had talks with Adam only this morning and indicated that the player could move on if the money was right…

“It’s important to keep working with him [Adam] to achieve one of his ultimate goals, which is to play for one of the top four or five, or even six, clubs. We have got him for 18 months on his contract and if one of those top clubs I told him this morning come in then I might have to consider it, but they would have to offer the right amount of money for this club to move forward.”

Fantasy Managers will need to monitor the situation closely. There’s no doubt that Adam has adapted brilliantly the Premier League stage and, while his goal and assist returns have remained moderate (3 goals, 4 assists), Adam has stood out in Holloway’s side and dominated their Fantasy Premier League (FPL) Bonus Point returns as a result. The heartbeat of the team, Adam tops of the FPL Bonus rankings with a hugely impressive haul of 27. Whilst he remains at Bloomfield Road that total would seem likely to keep ticking away – a move in the January transfer window would likely disrupt that. Certainly if either Villa or Birmingham are successful with follow-up bids, you would expect Adam’s returns in terms of Bonus to take a dent, while his influence at set-plays could also diminish.

In the short-term, his Fantasy owners will be hoping that this latest speculation will not get in the way of Adam taking to the field for Blackpool’s second fixture of the Gameweek on Wednesday. The Scot will wear the Gameweek 22 armband for many Fantasy Managers when Blackpool take on Liverpool and, having returned another couple of Bonus in the defeat to Birmingham last week, hopes will be high for further profit. Adam was rested for Blackpool’s 2-0 FA Cup defeat to Southampton at the weekend.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

berba and tevez yes but Torres surey has not prroven his huge worth (value) anytim this season. i think Drogba, rooney and RVP will all outscore him in next 5. even despite his DGWs,

Fairt play Kenny looks to have changed the team around and brought a bit more solidity, and will probably play frownando up front alone with gerrard inpocket and could work, we will see.

Lone strikers have to pressure the defenders nonstop. (See Carlos Tevez, Wayne Rooney, Kevin Davies)
Nando hasn't have the speed to close down or the work rate

Can't see them breaking a Christopher Samba or even a Givet down like that, maybe an individual effort against a helpless Givet, but they could quite possibly beat Chelsea in Stamford Bridge. Depending on which Rovers show, of course.

Irish Examiner - Terrace Talk on a Wednesday. Everyone should try and read it. Views and opinions from a resident Arsenal, Chelsea,Liverpool and Manc fan. Great read, they're all hilarious, die-hard fans.
The Chelsea bird is quite good. Here's her shit.
    http://www.chelseasupportersgroup.net/category/terrace-talk/

The Liverpool guy, Steven Kelly is probably the funniest.
Typically , the United guy is a let down, spends 90% of the time talking about FC United and the Glazers so I don't read him anymore but when he talks about football, he's funny enough. He used the phrase "shit invincibles" afew times this season so he's not the worst 🙂
    Arsenal guy is Bernard Azulay.

I'd strongly encourage any Irish people here to get the Examiner on a Wednesday and read Terrace Talk.

Both are really good value price but for me i like to keep space for arsenal attacking players as they can score many on their day. with the limit of 3 per club i prefer to have the option of having at least 2 attacking players for a team that is scoring well (which i think arsenal will do). but you're right, those 2 players are very good value and could be worth going for.

the thing with kolorov is, if he is to be benched that's like Mancini saying to the owners "yeah, i paid 20mil for this chap but he's not good enough to play ahead of someone we already had". i'm not sure mancini will rid him yet, maybe keep him for one more game and see if he starts.

    Hi guys,

very quick opinions on this wild card team. Any glaring mistakes?

    Begovic - Al-Habsi
    Gohouri - Pantsil - Coleman - Bardsley - Rafael
Adam - Fabregas - Van der Vaart - Nani - Nasri
    Rooney - Rodallega - Tevez

I think Arsenal is possibly the exception though. I'd lose a lot on Nasri too. This midfield is the one i've already got so just rebalancing the rest of the team.

It is a tad annoying after getting the midfield i was really happy with, everyone gets a wildcard and goes and gets the same one lol.

NOW im sure FIFA are corrupt, why did messi het the ballon d'or plus nasri's goal was way better than hamit altintop's lucky shot which he had no idea where it could have gone. GRRRRRRRRRRRR nasri is sooo much batter. imo ballon dor to iniesta and goal of the year to nasri. DONE NASRI FTW

Goal of the year should've gone to the Glentoran bloke out of the ones nominated. Saying that I actually think either Elmander's or Mark Davies the week after were better. The Glentoran one only got in due to millions of you tube hits, not that I'm saying it wasn't worthy of inclusion.

for example, if it was v chelsea they would have closed him down earlier. what im saying is that its easier to score goals at that level. hence why less players get into the top level because its HARDER

The quality of opposition in this instance means nothing. The guy took it first time so regardless of who he was playing against wouldn't have had time to close him down. Plus it was in the last minute to win the game. Anyway, each to their own. I've seen plenty of goals I'd say were better this season such as the Bolton ones I've mentioned but God knows who makes up these lists.

agree with the bolton team one and elmander one, but both included elements of skill where the players werent just hoping for the best, they meant and knew what they were doing, thats why i think nasri's is the best.

most of those were based on luck purely, no real intent like in nasri's where he knew what he was doing. none of the porto defenders even touched the ball away from him, which meant he didnt give them a chance

thats cuz everyone here are sheep and would pick the easy option without thinking about it. plus i dont think porto have done this well in the champions league without having a good defence. I bet any money if messi made that run v porto, he would have got it, your judging the player here not the goal, should be opposite.

Im thinking of doing my wild card this week, but only bringing in 3 new players.. this does sound a bit stupid, but I dont think my team needs changing that much.

    I want to bring in

    Fabregas for Brunt
    Djourou for Boswinga
    Berbatov for Torres

    My team will be:

    Hart Foster
    Coleman Bardsley Djourou Kolarov Rafael
    Nasri Fabregas Nani VDV Adam
    Berbatov Tevez DJ Campbell

8 point hit or wild card??
